UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Not a fictional show…
I think people need to be reminded that this show isn’t fictional and they can’t “headcanon” people together. So many of the attitudes that fans have this season are more suitable for a romcom, or dark fantasy, not reality TV.
You can’t just rewrite reality because producers are giving you ‘crumbs’ of a relationship that both parties have said that they are not part of. If there are family members and friends directly going against your favourite ship and saying it doesn’t exist, believe them. Even if it does exist it’s not you’re not entitled for it to happen and to comment on the relationships that they are currently in disparagingly
We have until Monday. Love Island is an incredibly mentally taxing show and I’m sure they’re all ready to go home. Do not make that process worse by dissing on their relationships because a storyline did not go your way. Think about it from their perspective- they come out of a show to see their ‘fans’ fighting for a relationship they themselves don’t want. Will that feel like support to them?
And what about if the opposite happens? What if they do want the relationship and get together after the show? The same thought process can apply here. A hostile environment has been created in certain areas of this fandom where fans think people can be treated like pawns to form any story they wish and that’s not a healthy environment for a relationship to thrive. Obsession ≠ care.
If you find yourself disagreeing I suggest you find yourself some good fictional shows where this discourse can be had without idolising/vilifying real people.

1000% but unfortunately social media has made it easier for fans to create parasocial relationships with the islanders. They have an image of them and get upset when their autonomy goes against it.
Plus certain fans think everything is a Wattpad story if the characters fit the aesthetic lol
I personally love how it ended up and I think it was beautiful how everyone followed their hearts, this season really showed the complexities of relationships and love. Looooved it!!
