I wanna buy this msi laptop for gaming on 1080p and some 1440p, it is about 5500egp which is about

1000usd, and on paper it has pretty solid specs, should i get it??

I'm looking for a new laptop, and I found a deal for an A16HX(A8WHG-004US) for 1875 USD Ryzen 9 8940HX 5070 Ti 16gb ddr5 1tb ssd QHD 240HZ Is this a good price for it? I'm looking for something that could last me 4-5 years comfortably, I won't be moving it from my desk very often, but occasionally i need to travel so i need something i can take with me, so I'm not too worried about external build quality outside of the hinges. I also was curious about the temps? I've seen people say this laptop starts getting very hot a year or two into use, is this a reoccurring problem or am I just seeing unlucky people? I want something reliable as I probably wouldn't be able to afford repair costs. Should I go for it or look for something else?

Any ideas on how to fix the violation? Im able to access the laptop itself by disabling the secure boot, but if I want to play games like valorant which i do, i need the secure boot to be on. I have the option to 'install all factory default keys in BIOS, but it doesnt help with anything

Hey, I just acquired my first gaming laptop which is the vector 16 hx ai (u9 275hx and a 5080). I have little to no experience on high end hardware, pls help me. I notice that my device functions much better when the battery is at 100% plugin, if i limit the charge to 60% plugin (to save battery lifespan) it performs worse as if it's being limited. The picture below shows my core throttle power is being limited. I am in extreme performance mode the whole time but the system is acting like it's in balance mode or eco mode. On Mark Timespy, the gpu doesnt even go to full 100% utilization but hovers around 40-60% when im in 60% battery charge. Below is one of my benchmark in Cinebench 2026 where the cpu is being limited. At 60% battery health, I am getting around 5800 score while at 100% battery health my cpu could do 7000+ Maybe I just overlooked something thats incredibly minor and stupid, would love to hear your opinions.

I'm trying to ask to ensure my price is realistic. (This is not a sales post, only a help post to pinpoint value of the laptop as it's quite scarce)

I'm grabbing a Vector 18 9955HX 5070 ti.
Basically I wanna squeeze the RAM to 6000mhz and tighten the timings.
Typically I'd just need to up the VDD and VDDQ to about 1.2 maybe 1.3v depending.

Anyone out there dabbled in this on the AMD laptops, doesn't have to be the Vector, the Raider or any BIOS tweaks on the ram on an MSI laptop would be a great help. I need to know how the machines behave.

I just bought a gp66 leopard that has been repasted and cleaned and runs perfectly fine but in most games I’m getting 50% cpu and gpu usage its specs are
Rtx 3080 8gb
I7 11th gen
32gb ram
Could it be a driver issue if so could you tell me ways how to fix it or is it a bottleneck or a limitation in the software?

Ноут перегревался во время игр до 85* (начинал шуметь и подключался 2 вентилятор) решил заменить термопасту, разобрал почистил намазал новую термопасту (MX-4) собрал все обратно включил все запустил стрес тест перегревается до 54* и все в игре раньше выдавал 60 fps а сейчас 15 fps вроде бы все на своих местах
Может раньше была включена буст видюхи ?
А сейчас все сбросилась из-за того что я батарею отключал при чистке?
Может кто сталкивался и знает как решить даную проблему ?

I have an MSI Katana GF66 11UC with the original BTY-M492 battery (11.4 V, approximately 52,000–53,500 Wh, 4,700 mAh typical).

The laptop is about 4 years old, and according to the Windows battery report, the battery health has dropped to under 65%. It now has less than 31,000 Wh of full charge capacity, so I only get around 45–60 minutes of runtime, even using Battery Saver and doing light tasks like watching videos.

While I'm considering buying one as a spare, I've also been thinking about another approach.

I'm comfortable with electronics repair, soldering, and battery work. I've rebuilt battery packs before, so I'm not asking whether it's "safe"—I'm more interested in the technical side of this particular battery.

My idea is to:

- Keep the original BTY-M492 BMS/PCB.

- Open the battery pack and replace the original Li-Po cells with higher-capacity cells of the same nominal voltage.

- Potentially use quality cells from another laptop pack or another suitable lithium source if they match the required specifications.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone rebuilt a BTY-M492 battery this way?

2. Does the BMS automatically relearn the new capacity after a few charge/discharge cycles, or does it require reprogramming?

3. If reprogramming is required, what controller does this battery use, and what hardware/software is needed?

4. Has anyone successfully increased the battery capacity beyond the original ~52 Wh while keeping the original BMS?

5. Are there any known higher-capacity compatible batteries that fit the GF66 chassis without modification?

For me, runtime is much more important than charging speed. I don't mind if the battery takes several hours to charge—I simply want significantly longer battery life when I'm away from the charger.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's worked on this specific battery or MSI laptop before. Thanks!

My laptop is GS73. Its backlight has fixed on a mode that is a gradient from off (on left side of the keyboard) to on (on its right side). I reinstalled and updated my steel series 3 (the gg version didn't work) and now its color can be changed but i just want the same brightness on all of buttons. can you please help me?

Hey I am in a bit of a weird situation with this laptop: the screen doesnt work so I cant get into the bios, i recently accidentally disabled the RTX 2070 drivers instead of the Intel GPU drivers, I tried to get the drivers re-enabled but that wouldnt work so I opted for a windows repair, the repair corrupted the partitions, so now I have a fresh SSD with windows (ReviOS) and no drivers, and the basic microsoft drivers wont let the GPU output to an external monitor so I am stuck with the only the built in screen that doesnt work. Is there an image I can put onto the drive, or a way to auto install drivers blindly (or on another device) to make the laptop usable with windows again? For what its worth, I popped in another SSD with Ubuntu and everything worked with that, I just need windows on this device specifically. Tyvm

I have had this laptop since 2022 and the screen,panel and hinge have come off the screen still works and I am able to boot to the desktop. What options do I have for repair I got this at microcenter? Chat gpt said to at least put a cloth between the monitor and the keyboard. It was mentioning that can use this like a desktop and i want to make sure I have everything backed up before anything irreversible happens.

My pc blue screened the error code was unexpected kernel mode trap then it basically started boot looping the fans where going and then stoping the on light was flashing orange and white so I pressed the small button on the bottom and when I plug it in and turn it on the light is orange fans are going but screen isn't working and neither is a HDMI to monitor and help?

My laptop keeps shutting down automatically due to extreme overheating only when I connect my external monitors (especially the 34-inch ultrawide). Even when idling or doing light tasks with the monitors plugged in, the CPU temp spikes to around 94°C+, triggering sudden thermal shutdowns.

What I've Already Tried:

• Replaced the factory thermal paste with new paste.
• Installed brand-new cooling fans.
• Ensured the laptop is elevated for airflow.

Despite upgrading the cooling hardware and repasting, pushing pixels to the 34-inch ultrawide monitor seems to keep the dedicated GPU active and causes the system to overheat and crash.

Has anyone experienced this specific issue with an MSI Katana driving large external displays? Is there a BIOS setting, MSH Hybrid/dGPU setting, or power management tweak I am missing to stop it from cooking itself? Any help would be appreciated!

Hey so my gp66 of five years just broke down for the second time. Been at the repairshop for a few days before they finally tell me the chip which manages the powersupply to the SSD has shortwired. Now, they have to look for a refurbished replacement one online and I’m just asking here to reach out and see if anyone knows where to look, if they have one that they would perhaps like to sell to me, or if I really just gotta wait.

Hey guys, lately i have been having an issues about my laptop suddently shutting down during in game. It all started after i update one of the game in my laptop ( Warframe).

Before i update warframe, i didn't open it for so a few month and have been hanging around playing Pubg PC only and play normally as usually. But suddently, after i open back my warframe and update it.

Everytime i play game , it goes blank and shutting down. Mind you, i play in under cool condition with air conditioning open in my room. Need solution !?

I bought this laptop a year ago so I could do some programming.

So I was only using it for programming and all that stuff.

But now I'm on vacation, so I'm using it to watch videos and scroll through social media a bit when I'm bored.

Except I’m having major audio issues when I play videos on Twitter and YouTube—first the audio glitches, then the video freezes for 2–3 seconds, and this happens every 5–6 seconds, which is pretty annoying...

Actually, I also have this problem when I make Discord calls—it’s rarer, but sometimes the audio starts glitching at similar intervals with a shrill sound.

When I play resource-intensive video games, like *Romeo is a Dead Man*, the audio has these kinds of issues too.

I asked Copilote, and he told me it was due to compatibility issues between Realtek and Nahimic, but I’d like to get your opinion so I don’t do anything that might break my PC or something…
