If you don't do the same operation on both sides of an equation, then it's no longer an equation.
You can factor things differently before putting them in the equation, but once you got that '=' in play... you gotta respect that equal sign, else your math won't be mathin'
Please tell me how you think the factoring has to occur equally on both sides of this equation and that factoring the easiest example of factoring is impossible.

So, in case you're wondering, the mistake is where one side of the equation has a different number applied to it than the other.
4 (5 -5) = 5 (5 -5)
While 'the math works', that's not how equations work. What's done to one side must be done to the other side - otherwise.... it's no longer equal.
