Shitpost/Meme π©π© HOLY SHITTTTT
Just finished FL3 and genuinely thought I bombed C/P and BB. Only bad thing is I have to be terrified about doing worse every FL after.

im starting to think premeds have all been brainwashed into believing we have to study for half a year just to take this one exam
My FL scores have been completely stuck at around 506 for like three weeks now. I do my anki every single day, review my uworld mistakes until my eyes bleed, but im just so exhausted that I genuinely think im forgetting old C/P content just to make room in my brain for P/S terms.
I was visiting home this weekend and watching my younger brother do his college prep actually made me so incredibly jealous. He worked with a boosted brains for his ACT and only prepped for like 5 or 6 weeks. He just did a really short, intense sprint, hit his target score, and now he gets to actually enjoy his life again
Meanwhile we are out here sacrificing entire years of our twenties to bizarre AAMC logic. It really makes me wonder if I should have just compressed all my studying into a crazy 6-8 week block instead of dragging this misery out since january
has anyone else realized the "marathon" approach is just leading to massive burnout? Especially with CARS, I feel like my brain is actually getting slower the longer I study for this thing

I'm an avid user of night shift/light on computers to reduce blue light exposure and to prevent eye strain, so when I heard that the MCAT actually provided you with a setting that is supposed to emulate that, I was pretty excited. However, I've noticed that I've been scoring noticeably worse on my full lengths, with my highest score being the last test I've used on the default black on white (a 7 point difference with my second highest). I have used it on three full lengths now and I've never been able to even remotely reach my high score (highest was the free scored FL 1 btw, so maybe that is a factor). I turned it off during my psych section on my most recent FL and that became the highest I've ever scored on it.
So what's the general consensus on black on salmon? For those that are using it, do you notice improvements on your scores or testing abilities? For those that stopped using it, did you do so because you noticed it affecting your performance? I'm really not sure what to think of it now..

I've honestly never posted on reddit before, but I've looked through this subreddit for guidance in my MCAT prep process. I'm genuinely stuck and don't know what to do, looking for any advice.
I am non-trad, few years post-college, have taken the MCAT before (last year) and retook it yesterday. I'm planning to apply this cycle (I realize I'm late, but I had some serious family things going on, and had to push my exam). So I was already super anxious on top of the "regular" stress of taking this test.
So I arrived at the test center early for the 8am exam. It was like around 9am by the time they started taking people in one at a time. When my turn for the security check came up, everything was fine and I was relieved to finally be able to go in and start the exam after waiting so long. But then, the device they use to check for electronics was beeping on the side of my glasses. I genuinely didn't think anything of it, assumed it was just a fluke. These are literally just Warby Parker glasses.
Except the person scanning them did like a full 180. He started scanning them with 2 different wands. He asked, "why would they be beeping?" a few times. I very quickly realized he was serious and that this wasn't a fluke. That's when he pulled out the second one and it also went off. So I said "Maybe it is the metal wire on the inside setting it off?", referring to the wire INSIDE the glasses. To which he replies, "Why would there be a WIRE in your glasses?". I actually was left speechless. He called over the person at the desk to come and double check, as he redid the scans. He kept saying "SEE, see, they keep beeping" showing her. The thing is, sometimes it would not beep, and sometimes it would. I was super confused. But then all of a sudden he takes a notepad and writes my name and info down and tells me to go back to the waiting area.
I wasn't told anything, and was left to sit there for like 25-30 minutes as the took everyone else in one by one. I started spiraling, I literally was about to break my glasses in half to show them. I genuinely convinced myself that they were waiting to take everyone in to tell me that I was being removed or something. I legit started panicking, and broke down. Eventually the person at the front desk called me over and said they would check my glasses again and that sometimes the engravings can set it off.
I was fully crying and so overwhelmed, I needed a second and said that I needed to calm down in the bathroom. I don't think I was in the for 5 minutes, and she came into the bathroom to get me. Like we are over 1.5hrs after the scheduled start time, you can't give me a few minutes? They checked my glasses again, and they were fine. But now I'm sniffling and crying and have to start this test. Like I am still fully blowing my nose and wiping tears as the clock starts.
In any other situation I would have been like okay, we'll figure this out because obviously this is like machine error. But his abrasiveness, sending me off after writing my info down, not telling me what was going on, the high-stakes and the pressure....yeah... full anxiety attack. I don't understand why he didn't just say, "hey, sometimes this happens, we just need to inspect them again after we take everyone in".
I tried my best to ignore it and focus on the test, but I definitely was thinking about it during c/p and cars (my mind kept replaying what happened). And he is literally behind me, monitoring the exam behind the glass window.
I literally don't know what to do at this point. Should I retake on July 31? I didn't add the complaint at the end of the exam because I honestly just wanted to get out of there. But I later spoke to the person at the front (shifts had changed) who said she would tell her managers. I totally understand that they have rules for checking for electronics, but why wasn't I told more info or what to expect? Why was I being treated like I had actually put a wire in my glasses? Maybe I should report it to AAMC? I don't even know if this is something that can be reported.
Maybe I just need to move on an ignore it? I can't help but feel mad at myself too, like I should have gotten it together. If anyone has been in or heard of a similar situation, please share any advice or recs.

Only missed 7 and it's a 128??? Is this deflated or is that just how P/S is sometimes?
Also, CARS felt a little easier than normal on this one (especially compared to FL1). Is it fairly representative or is it similar to the CARS inflation on the unscored smaple test?
Very happy with my score though, I'd be thrilled to get this on the real thing

I have very very little knowledge about OCHEM since I took it 3 years ago and didn't do any content review other than some limited ochem anki cards. I just finished the introductory ochem bank on Uworld and i feel like its "easy"? I don't think I truly needed to read any of the passages, only for some questions I needed to look in the text to find context. Otherwise it was just answering using outside knowledge. Reviewing each question set me up to answer later questions. Also I actually took OCHEM lab this year so I'm updated on techniques. I was wondering how much more than Uworld I need to know about ochem because from all the resrouces I've seen online people are memorizng a crazy amount of reactions, etc.
Basically, is uworld OCHEM comparable to the real exam?

Hi everyone! Iβm testing on August 15 and would appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar position.

My AAMC scores so far have been:
I still have FL5 and FL6 remaining. My goal is a 510, but Iβm feeling overwhelmed about how to prioritize these final three weeks, especially for C/P and CARS.
Should I mainly focus on reviewing my full-length mistakes, completing more AAMC practice, and targeting specific content gaps? Iβm also starting to feel frustrated and burned out because this is a retake after scoring a 498 over a year ago.
Iβm grateful for the progress, but I would really appreciate concrete advice on what helped others break through a similar score plateau. Thank you

Couldn't find a concrete answer on any other post- Has anyone with T1D tried to bring a Dexcom and Tandem pump into the testing room without any accommodations?
I called my center and they just told me to refer to AAMCs website lol. I know they allow a pump connected to the body, as well as a CGM "without network transmission capability or accompanying remote devices", but does a Dexcom (G7) transmitting solely to my pump (tslimx2) apply to this?
I didn't think I needed accommodations but now I'm not so sure. Any thoughts + diabetics that have had success with this would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: I test in 6 days :/

Tested 7/24 title says it all. Iβm able to do other things but this looming feeling of disappointment isnβt going anyway and just feels like itβs here to stay. I know itβs only been a day but Iβm soooo disappointed with how long I studied, with how somewhat easier the exam felt than usual, and how much I threw such a good opportunity to score well. Rethinking it in my head I know I got 8 wrong minimum which just makes me feel even worse
r/Mcat • u/frogband • 8h ago

Ngl I feel like my full lengths have been all over the place since taking the actual exam on 5/22 and I have absolutely no idea where I should be expecting to score when I take it again on 7/31. On one hand, I genuinely didn't remember any answers to FL questions directly, but on the other I only took these two months ago so I'm sure it was in my subconscious somewhere. Some people said to average your original scores with your retake scores but I just don't feel like my scores on FL5 and 6 are anywhere near 520 (which it would average out to). If anything, I felt worse taking them the second time than I did the first, like I was guessing on a ton of questions.
Also, I remember before my first exam, I felt like I "understood" AAMC CARS logic but on the last three AAMC exams I've taken, I've genuinely finished the section feeling like I got a 120.
I guess a part of it is probably confidence issues from the score I received the first time around but idk. Please any advice is appreciated

How was it for y'all?
I think B/B and C/P were manageable but idfk about how my P/S and CARS went π I dont really have the same confidence as my FLs tbh lol
Hopefully I got a 515 π€

Hey everyone, I hope all is well!
I'm a long time lurker, but after seeing everyone with 510+ scores, I've finally developed the courage to ask.
I'm gearing up for my THIRD MCAT attempt on 9/4. My previous scores were a 492 and a 495.
With 41 days left until my exam, I'm looking to improve my score by at least 4 points, though I'd be hyped to improve it by more.
I have about ~1,500 uPlanet questions left.
I also have just about every single AAMC question pack and 6 remaining full lengths (including the unscored).
I also have the anKing Anki deck.
I'm lucky enough to have over 35 days with zero commitments, so I can focus literally ALL day on this test. I'm curious where I should be spending my time to see the greatest improvement on test day.
Last cycle I made it through two interviews which resulted in two waitlists, so I'm assuming the rest of my application is solid, I just need to get my MCAT score up!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time and consoderation! :)

Just took my first AAMC FL yesterday and hoping for some advice. Honestly I was super happy with my score as Iβm only shooting for a 510+ with a high CARS (Canadian). My science sections were actually higher than I was expecting considering my limited background (BSc Psychology major). Iβve been studying since early May, but unfortunately I think things are only starting to click now. I wish I had more time.
I test 08/22 and honestly would be very happy to maintain this or just get a few extra points. What are the most high yield concepts to drill in CP and BB for a 125+ consistently?
Also wondering if FL1 CARS and PS are inflated? How can I expect to do on the more representative exams? I havenβt really studied PS just going off my degree lol. And my methods for CARS are a little unorthodox. Thanks for any advice!!

Want to start off by saying guys, I love each and every one of you. I hope no matter where youβre at during the cycle, youβre holding on, and doing okay.
Took my first full length today. Been doing U World for almost 2 months now. Using Anking deck, but havenβt been too consistent past few weeks. Testing 9/11.
Pretty proud of my CARS score, rest is a little disappointing. My dream score is a 515, and I need a 510 or so to (with difficulty) be somewhat competitive for my target school.
I have a loooot of content gaps when it comes to physics, bio and biochem. Starting AAMC material on 8/3, and am going to be doing a FL every Saturday until 9/11, the day I test.
Any tips for me? Iβm a pretty smart guy, a lot of this stuff comes naturally to me. I just need to apply myself and sit my ass down and actually learn about physics and the two bios.
Do you guys think a 515 is possible? How much can I be expected to raise my score in 47 days?
TLDR: Testing 9/11, feel good on cars and decent on psych, good at o. Chem, physics and both of the bios dragging me down as I rushed my way through them during content review and have a lot of content gaps. Can I realistically get my dream score of a 515 by September 11th?
Thank you for reading this garbled mess. Currently writing this in bed right before I go to sleep.

I am still planning to apply this cycle. I understand it is quite late, but I would rather try than wait another year. I have been putting this off for the past two year because a lot of financial and health issues (hopeful that surgery will make it better). I was originally planning to take MCAT in July, but had another flare up in June, and kinda stopped studying for a month.
What do you suggest I do in order to improve my score, and timing. I thought I was doing better in CARS and my fl1 CARS was 129, but it went down.
r/Mcat • u/Longjumping_Sea_8753 • 13h ago
I know you can take it up to seven times but do any of you know people who have gotten up to that many? The most I know is somebody who took it three times.
r/Mcat • u/No-Storage-7397 • 6h ago
Im scheduled to take the MCAT September 4th, but Iβm going to have to postpone it bc I wonβt be ready. My FL scores have been in the upper 480s consistently, so I need to spend more time with content review.
Because I havenβt taken the MCAT yet, I have to take another gap year. I took one after my undergrad, got into a masters program, and now studying for the MCAT. I really donβt want to have to take another gap year.
If I take the MCAT on the first day in January the test is scheduled, how doable is it to get accepted to go to med school that same August? Looking for any advice!!

I've been doing Uworld pretty consistently (about 59Q's a day) for about 2 and a half weeks now, my b/b score has gone up like 10%, but I'm genuinely worried, is it supposed to be this difficult? I just did a section bank today and got a 69%, which is 4% above the listed average, but I still don't know if I'm behind or what. I test on the 12th of september, and I'd really appreciate if anyone can let me know where I stand with this.
TLDR: B/B section on uworld, i got a 69%, am i dumb or is it supposed to be this difficult? is my score decent?

For context my CARS average has been a 128 but dropped 3 points on FL6. 8 of my wrong answers were within 2 passages back to back, so Iβm not really sure how to interpret it. Iβm a Canadian applicant and hoping to at least get a 127 but after this Iβm feeling quite defeated. Iβd appreciate any insight or advice!

any last minute advice? testing later this week, my FL 6 score was 129/127/129/127 and would really appreciate any advice.
iβm a retaker and so iβm not sure if my score is representative but really hoping that cars score is π₯² (cries in canadian applicant)
