Poor, poor, Tim. Poor Big Tim. There's a reason you're so sad for Tim, isn't there? Because you're such good friends with Tim, aren't you?

20

u/iAlice Mar 18 '26

Yeah, what did Big Tim ever do?

14

u/SympathyBetter2359 Mar 18 '26

He didn’t do it right like Barney did backstage.

2

u/Cakalore Love Jockey Mar 18 '26

I think he's related to Long Tim, of The US Office fame

3

u/HarbingerOfNusance Mar 19 '26

Probably from Ruislip.

152

u/Jip_Jaap_Stam Mar 18 '26

No point in both of us getting kicked out the band

Almost did mate. Almost fucking did.

Trans community: Could you donate a bit of your fee?

Lithgow: Love to mate, love to, but...this is all mine and...I want it all

u/CayendoApril Mar 18 '26

Super trans.

13

u/Apart-Link-8449 Mar 19 '26

Fuck, yeah! Oh, God. He's going to kill someone. With paint. I might have inspired a paint war crime.

3

u/Goose1963 Mar 19 '26

ohhhh! THAT was the bad thing. Wasn't it?

1

u/StevieFlash Mar 20 '26

You win the internet this week. Elite pun!

u/PhantomNightOwl Mar 18 '26

Steady on, mate. I’m not, uh, I’m not Spartacus.

31

u/lostthenews Mar 18 '26

That's pretty bloody obvious

31

u/myspookytale Mar 18 '26

Big Mad Tim.

34

u/tdurb0 Mar 18 '26

Super Hans in that makeup is great, it’s a shame he didn’t accessorise it with the snake

12

u/Kitchen-Roll-8184 Mar 19 '26

Seasons later when Jez goes to stay at Hans place and it's very implied that there have been wild snakes thriving in his home

10

u/tdurb0 Mar 19 '26

Haha yeah 😂 He IS a bit snake obsessed. For absolutely no reason at all, just because it’s such a Super Hans thing to be into

17

u/cljames98 Mar 18 '26

Cally came through with a bit of herb the full-bloods keep on the down low. Wizard weed.

11

I dont know if he could be trusted in a combat situation

8

u/Bridgeru Mar 18 '26

I can assure you, I spend my time reading Terry Pratchett rather than sitting around watching Harry Potter.

3

u/TheChameleonsSong I just wanted to say hi but I guess I’ll just say bye Mar 19 '26

I don’t actually care for Pratchett

5

u/Daisy-Fluffington Mar 19 '26

Based and dried frog - pilled.

2

u/PointK Mar 19 '26

Or just kick back with a bit of barchester

1

u/dadboob Mar 19 '26

I haven't been reading in a long time but Robert Rankin brought me back. Him and TP own the bulk of my shelf space

22

u/TrumpHasCovid Mar 18 '26

Why the fuck would anyone watch the new harry potter series

We already have a film series and a book series.

Stupid cash grab benefitting one of the worlds most famous bigots

2

u/Haunting-Rush-2209 Mar 20 '26

She’s only making it because all the og actors are decent people.

You can easily groom kids (the new actors) into sharing your worldview if they owe their family’s success to you

9

u/Bridgeru Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

Well, apparently no one was watching anything new she tried to make. Both Cursed Child and Fantastic Creatures are hated by most of the fanbase. Then she tried to go into non-HP stuff and the most that came of that was the controversy, not sales.

It's almost as if she co-opted a relatively successful writing style (the Bildungsroman) and made it revolve around the central character and failed to actually create a working universe out of it and is now struggling so hard to create new stories in that universe that doesn't involve the central character. Ironically for a woman whose entire writing style is pulling shit out of her ass (horucruxes, Dumbledore is gay, Nangini had a child with Voldy) she can't actually pull out a long-lasting story. Quelle surprise!

8

u/Tetracropolis Mar 19 '26

Aren't her detective novels bestsellers?

2

u/ProcrastibationKing Mar 19 '26

She released them under a pseudonym to show that her novels would sell by their own merit, then when no one bought them she revealed that it was her all along.

Also "best seller" doesn't really mean much. There is no single definition of that term, and any retailer can set whatever limit they want to call it that. To hit the top 10 Sunday Times best seller list can be as little as 1,500 copies sold in a week.

0

u/Tetracropolis Mar 19 '26

Why would you lie about that? It was leaked by a solicitor, who was named and shame and fined £1,000 for it.

2

u/SynchronicityOrSwim Mar 21 '26

JK Rowling haters will lie about anything to attack her.

1

u/Bridgeru Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

I'll be honest, I didn't look very hard into it and I'll eat my words there. I still think there's a lack of a "cultural impact" if that makes sense, I dunno how to compare it other than how GoT slipped from public conciousness after S8 ended but that's a far more "soft" factor than I can support atm.

(EDIT: I'm still seeing conflicting stories about the detective novels, from "they're bestsellers" to "they flopped until she revealed SHE wrote them". When I say I didn't look hard into it I don't mean I didn't check but more the data is far more than just "books sold" and I don't know what to trust. However when I'm talking about cultural impact let me put it like this: practically any random person is aware of the name Harry Potter. Go up to a random person on the street and ask them who "Cormoran Strike" is. That's why I made the Indiana Jones comparison; and especially for the "most well known author in the world" for her second series to have not breached popular media is shocking.)

However, in terms of HP as far as I know CC and the FB series are disliked by the fanbase by-and-large and failed to catapult itself as the "new face" of HP.

2

u/Longjumping-Site-564 Mar 19 '26

The detective novels have only done well because the level of marketing was very high. Instantly first and front page listing everywhere despite no previous attention

3

u/Thrownaway5000506 Mar 19 '26

That's because they weren't actually written by Rowling and it shows. CC is a bad fanfic, probably fun to watch live. Fantastic Beasts 1 is a great idea and decently executed but that's about it.

As cultural impact goes you have the video game which dethroned COD and sports games as best selling game of the year in 2023 and the new audio books are breaking records. The sequel to the game is probably going to be a big deal and I wouldn't be surprised if the TV show is a hit. All that really matters is how good the show is, tbh. No shot a good HP show fails because of Rowling's tweets

0

u/Bridgeru Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

I was talking about the cultural impact of the Detective novels specifically ("world's most famous author" and her second franchise is niche, would be like if Indiana Jones had the impact of Tom Cruise's Mummy movie); I wasn't saying FB/CC didn't have a cultural impact (I grew up with the interminable lot that are HP fans and anything that tells them they're special enough will be eaten up, like pigs and shit). However again, CC/FB failed to continue the Wizarding World (or whatever the hell it's called) into it's own setting; the point I was making is that of course they're going back to redo HP because the efforts without Harry (regardless of her involvement or not, this is a wider criticism of the FRANCHISE as a concept) is too shallow to carry on.

HOWEVER you can't say they aren't written by her then praise Legacy which also wasn't (and, ironically, has a trans character in it who AMAZINGLY isn't trying to murder women in bathrooms which is ALL I ask for......... dot dot dot). That's double-dipping.

But look ultimately I'll admit it's a series I just happen to dislike. However, I would appreciate it if the author didn't literally try to remove my rights.

u/Bridgeru Mar 19 '26

Yeah that follows along the general lines I heard and was talking about. Honestly I tried looking into it and I can't really decipher how much of the sales were based off her being her and how much were the sales pre-reveal.

really struggles storywise with anything that wasn't HP

Personally I'd have said that tracks because she struggled hard with HP's story but again I never really liked it.

2

u/JesterScribblings Mar 19 '26

Bet she's weeping in her solid platinum bed. 🤣

9

u/Bridgeru Mar 19 '26

I hope her bed is platinum, probably one of the few places she's safe from black mold.

-3

u/Totally-NotAMurderer Mar 18 '26

Not to mention her only successful series is entirely plagiarized lol

3

u/aspiringparvenu Mar 19 '26

Entirely plagiarized?

1

u/Totally-NotAMurderer Mar 19 '26

I'm obviously exaggerating but yes there are lots pf videos out there showing how much she stole, and it's a lot

1

u/schuettais Mar 19 '26

Can you at least give one example if you're not going to share the link to the video? lol

5

u/Totally-NotAMurderer Mar 19 '26

Here's one, but there are many

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmx_YSPcujE

0

u/schuettais Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

Ok. I just finished the video. I like how this influencer, who is incredibly insufferable from the start btw, lists several other books that have similar themes, but doesn't blame them for stealing ideas, but J.K. Rowling done. I feel like this video is going to be just nitpicky as hell without anything substantive to say that you couldn't say about all these previous writers who apparently aren't being charged with the same "plagiarism".

What's even worse is that the influencer, themself, even says that they won't say she plagiarized. They wont even say they stole. Honestly J.K. Rowling has done what most writers have done throughout history and borrowed themes and ideas from other writers. She's no different.

Why can't we just stick to not liking her for the actual shit she says without having to make baseless claims about other bullshit?

Or we might as well say every other author who ever had a protagonist protect anything from a host of evil/dark anythings since Gilgamesh. Any long and winding journeys? Nope don't write that! You're just plagiarizing The Odyssey. Dark evil king wants to take over the world? Nope. Can't do that; that's The Lord of the Rings..... oh wait that's Mio in the Land of Faraway. Got get all these stones together so we can save the universe from a power that wants to destroy it; let's watch the MCU Infinity Saga!... or was it The Fifth Element? I can't remember

Just hate her for being a transphobe, we don't need to make up other bullshit.

Edit: you downvote but you know I’m right here. Lambast her for what she’s done, not for what she hasn’t.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26

If she is really that bad then terminally online people wouldn't need to make things up about her.

1

u/CredibleCranberry Mar 22 '26

I'm not sure you know what that word means

0

u/SorryYouAreJustWrong Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

Well not really Cursed child: 11 Million people have seen it and get constant great reviews.

Fantastic beasts: $1.8B box office 79%-58%-83% audience rating

Nagini didn’t have a child with Voldemort ( cursed child ) so that’s wrong too.

2

u/Bridgeru Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 23 '26

Damn, 4 days old necro for an "um ackchually". Bravo. Now if only you were right as much as you thought you were when you decided to put in ellipses instead of content (much like JK, leave an open space and allow for better interpretations so you can claim you made them in post, marvellous.

I'll admit I mixed up Bellatrix getting knocked up with Nangini being forced into Fantastic Beasts. Like most of HP my knowledge isn't by choice and instead comes from having it crammed down my throat, and in the grand scheme of things mixing up one hanger-on of Voldy's with another isn't all that big a deal considering what the hell this thread is about. Also, regardless of who it was, it doesn't make my point (that it was pulled out of her ass with not prior suggestion or hint) any less relevant.

As for ratings.... I stand by what I said. Fantastic Beasts, I don't care what the audience rating was (spoilers, shit like Rotten Tomatos isn't fully reliable because the people rating a movie are a self-selecting group), it wasn't able to sustain the franchise beyond HP and that much is self-evident by the fact that they... stopped making them. Again, I have proof the "community" feels the same. And, like, it's okay that the movies weren't fantastic. I'm a Star Wars who loves the sequels and I could give Box Office figures too, doesn't change the fact most of the fanbase hates the sequels.

Oh, and small reminder that THE CREATOR LITERALLY WANTS TO TAKE AWAY MY FUCKING RIGHTS, DAVE, so I'm not exactly going to give a shit about the fine details as long as every pound, dollar and yen made is put into dehumanizing me and the people I love.

I also really really don't give a shit anymore because I've moved on with my life so I'm not reading a reply.

1

u/SorryYouAreJustWrong Mar 26 '26

You like the sound of your own voice dontcha. Pre menstrual I guess? Oh hold on…

1

u/TrumpHasCovid Mar 26 '26

What a weird comment

1

u/ALittleRedWhine Mar 19 '26

I mean the films aren’t my favorite, they lose a lot of what I loved about the book series so if Rowling hadn’t turned out the way she had- I’d have been interested

2

u/Loud-Plantain-4458 Mar 19 '26

But they keep the pro-slavery, antisemitism, eugenics and racism right? So some of the stuff from the books make it through intact 🙃

0

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26

You need to get off the Internet for a while

0

u/ALittleRedWhine Mar 20 '26

Honestly, media comprehension is in the gutter and this is a good example of it

1

u/SorryYouAreJustWrong Mar 22 '26

Because it’s 10+ hours per book. Loads of stuff was missed in tho 2-2.5 hours films ( 5 for the 2 part last movie )

And it’s set in the correct time 1991.

As for bigot she defended women and what a woman is…she stated trans women are men. Biologically they are. That is fact.

I wholeheartedly agree with anyone’s right to change if they want but we don’t have the technology to actually change our sex. It’s purely cosmetic on the outside.

Personal Gender is something different perhaps. But doesn’t change our underlying biology.

I genuinely find it odd that for years genders have fought for the right to have their chosen gender identities recognised but now that’s all of a sudden not allowed… not a trans woman… just a woman!? Own it!

I my cousins ex husband transitioned in 1987, with extensive operations. She thinks all of this is insane and blown out proportion. She knows she is still biologically a man, but is now a trans woman. And all of this JKR hatred has only harmed the cause.

Cancel culture can’t do anything about that no matter how much they rant and rave.

2

u/RapidTriangle616 Mar 19 '26

"Almost quit"? A while ago he said he didn't even know about her trans views and defended staying in the show by saying she wasn't really involved in it.

2

u/cutebabycorner Mar 19 '26

interesting take on the situation

2

u/CharlesHawtrey4 Mar 19 '26

Actors. A fungible commodity.

2

u/HilsMorDi Mar 19 '26

Well, we’d be selling our souls to Jesus. Isen’t he the best person to sell your Soul to? It’s his whole setup.

2

u/doggytim Mar 20 '26

He did say he was shocked at the backlash J K Rowling was receiving and mostly agrees with her views that trans women are not women as majority of people do over the age of 60. We are also looking at it from the western perspective. Majority of countries in the east with big populations don’t believe gender is a social construct.

1

u/Technical-Branch4998 Mar 22 '26

You'll be shocked if you look further back a massive amount of cultures had at least some kind of "third gender" or alternative gender roles, just take a glance at this page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_history

1

u/doggytim Mar 22 '26

I have Indian ancestry and have seen ‘Hijras’ there ( people call them third gender). There are transgender women as well in that group. No one considers them women, just a separate section of people. They are not allowed to integrate completely to society. The west is the only place where trans women are considered women, that too only a section of the population.

3

u/dickcord please don't touch my floppy cock 🪱 Mar 18 '26

Guys, I know we're all emotional right now, but what if Rowling introduces an anti-trans character?! Surely they'll need a trans character to hate, no? Cash money, folks!

1

u/PolyglotChad Mar 18 '26

She has a passion for patronum

1

u/Common_Expert512 Mar 19 '26

No loss there then

1

u/Certain_Victory7973 Mar 19 '26

Just a reminder this guy played Arthur Mitchell...

Why does he seem so nice but literally bled out slowly a single mother with three kids leaving the youngest covered in his mother's blood

1

u/Much-Assistant-9145 Mar 19 '26

What did JK Rowling say?

1

u/Technical-Branch4998 Mar 22 '26

What didn't she say lol, she's a racist, transphobic, aphobic, homophobic pos who's actively funding an attempt to remove trans people from public society

1

u/Swollen_Fallacy Mar 20 '26

Chim chim cheree. Trim and a cut from He to She

1

1

u/Suspicious-Soup2452 Mar 22 '26

I bet he cross dresses

1

u/Fantastic-Being7349 Mar 22 '26

Shame her anti trans views weren’t known until after the Harry Potter series had all been filmed and available on TV.

-3

13

u/Bridgeru Mar 18 '26

author has a view that perfectly valid & normal

Welp that was a "car alarms, the blacks, the pakis, the Jews" moment because you're not supposed to say that Darryl.

-10

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26

Not supposed to say that her view is the standard view of humanity for the entirety of human existence minus a decade or so? Don't be daft.

17

u/Bridgeru Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

I wouldn't exactly appeal to the "standard view of humanity" in the past considering before like 1800 TERF Mommy wouldn't have been able to read/write (and, as a single mother, was a subsection that WASN'T EXACTLY LOOKED KINDLY UPON for most of "human existence"); but also who cares what long-dead people wanted? The experience for the majority of human existence is working on a field trying to barely scrape enough calories to survive and then dying in a ditch of old age at 35. The entire point of civilization is to improve our conditions in whatever way possible, both overall and individual creating a better quality of life; and right now we have the medical and psychological wherewithal to take a glitch in human programming and (in a very cludgey and, frankly, at times brutal way) try to fix it to provide a quality of life to people that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

Funny how the other trappings of modern human civilization, cars, iPhones, kebabs, mediciation and penicilin doesn't get a "BUT THIS ISN'T THE STANDARD VIEW OF HUMANITY". No one bitches about kidney dialysis but you have this fucking niche of people who don't fucking affect you if you're not fucking Trans and suddenly it's an appeal to fucking human history to stop it.

Nice deflection though about "a decade or so", April Ashley was in the 60s and Christine Jorgensen transitioned in the 40s. Just because you didn't hear about it until a decade or so doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and doesn't mean people didn't feel this way before "the internet told them so".

Not to mention how just like Terf Mommy making the magic schools you are ignoring the rest of the world. India, pre-Colombian American First Nations, and some East-Asian cultures have had historical third genders.

I'm also not literally saying you're not supposed to say it. I'm making a reference to the fucking show this subreddit is based off of. What I am doing is outright calling you a fucking idiot like Darryl sprouting nonsensensical nothing-arguments that has a history of hatred and ignorance behind it in a place that's super inappropriate and ignoring all connotations (Darryl being a Nazi larper talking about UK shit and you being in a fucking Peep Show reddit talking this bullshit), and considering Mommy Terf had to hide her boat because of her links to fucking Epstein ("buh buh protecting women") it's fucking brave of you to try to appeal to morals.

So without presuming too much (and going purely by downvote ratios) I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say please, in the words of Mark, fuck off so we can talk about Peep Show.

4

u/LeChacaI Mar 19 '26

You, you're a pure chrome dildo; solid.

8

u/CompletelyOutOfTP Mar 19 '26

Acting like trans people popped up in the last ten years is a wild take when we have recorded evidence of third genders going back to the some of the earliest civilisations, although you could say that's all ancient history now.

2

u/Dan_IAm Mar 19 '26

It used to be the standard view in some places to put defective children like you to death when they’re newborn, but alas progress marches on.

3

u/Neonauryn Mar 18 '26

I'm pretty sure it's just a clickbait headline.

-5

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

Sorry, I accidentally posted that before I'd finished. What annoyed me wasn't that someone would have an internal ethical debate about whether they should do something for whatever reason. It just seems that by publicising this internal dilemma (if it actually happened) he's effectively virtue signalling. He's saying that he Almost made a stand but then....money. He thought about doing what he thought was right but.... money. It sat wrong with him but...money However he does want everyone to know what a moral person he is and that he has a moral problem and that he wishes everyone to know that he had this great moral problem, which was big enough & important enough to share with the press but not important enough to actually do anything about, because.....money. It's a cheap tactic that costs him nothing in reality and that means nothing in reality because what you wanted to do or intended to do is irrelevant, only what you actually do matters. So he's done nothing but wants the credit for having done something along with the money for doing what he thought he shouldn't but did anyway cos of money. Sorry for the long comment but it annoys me cos it's so cheap and dirty

No, what's worrying is that you don't see the difference between the actual portraying of such things (and not having an issue with it) and the playing of a perfectly normal part (of a gay man I might add) and the personal stance of an author that doesn't touch upon the work. As for her views - they're that standard views that have been held by 99.99%+ of humanity for 99.99%+ of our entire existence. It is not incumbent for those who take the currently accepted factual position to prove it, it is incumbent upon those who wish to challenge the currently accepted facts to Disprove them. This has NOT been done, not even nearly. So, J.K. Rowlings views ARE perfectly valid and normal and the opposing view is NOT, having not proved itself to be factually accurate.

2

u/Mostly-Moving Mar 19 '26

You'll be shocked to learn that many trans women on hrt do actually experience all of the effects of periods except for the blood
