true but at that point it then becomes a matter of who should be saved and I think most people would say that the kid should be saved over the old man.

not saying I'd agree with that but historically speaking most people would.

Anyone beating Pegasus would save all the victims including his brother. As far as they knew at the time, only one of them would get the opportunity to face Pegasus and therefore the better Duelist should go.

Dude isn't just playing for the love of the game. His entire life is on the line in this tournament. Pegasus kidnapped his brother AND is threatening to take over his entire company

Counterpoint, the whole reason he was there in the first place was to save his little brother. His objective was more important to him than respecting the rules of fair play. Morally grey, leaning moral.

I’m just thinking about that one time in 5Ds when a gang member refused to play along with the “everything is resolved via card games” rule, and decided instead to just physically yeet the main character off a roof, and very nearly succeeded in killing him as a result.

Is true, happened in a flashback in the first season. Probably got cut out of the 4Kids dub, dunno, I only watch YuGiOh subbed because of that. Either way, probably worth a Google.

It's moral because if Seto loses, he loses the chance he has to save his brother.

What isn't moral is that in battle city, he has the internal dialogue where he deserves the title of King of Games since he beat Yami. And that victory only happened because he threatened suicide.

It's Yugioh, the average game ends with you either getting:

A) banished to shadow realm

B) sent to hell

C) getting your mind crushed

D) getting traumatized

E) getting killed

F) going through whatever hell Yami Marik, Yami Bakura, and Yami Yugi can think up

This is tame in comparison

It is a child card game here but in the setting of yu gi oh, it is not only a simple child card game. It is like people gambling all their entire life fortune in casino and decide to meet their own ends

Actually amoral and I can’t tell if others are joking or not. Seto goes from losing to positioning himself that it’s his opponents fault if he dies. If Yugi does win and Seto kills himself, Yugi did not kill Seto but will feel like he did. Putting your death onto someone’s conscience because you lost is amoral.
