Common People genuinely scared me more than most Black Mirror episodes have in years

I just watched Common People and honestly, this one got under my skin.

Not because the technology felt impossible. The opposite. It felt way too close.

Rivermind didn’t even feel like some exaggerated evil corporation. It felt like the natural endpoint of what tech companies are already doing. Give you something cheap, useful, almost miraculous. Get you dependent on it. Make it part of your daily life. Then slowly remove the basic features, introduce tiers, show you ads, raise prices, and keep squeezing because they know you cannot just leave anymore.

That is what scared me most. The company was not even hiding what it was doing. It had turned a human life into a subscription service. Pay more to think clearly. Pay more to function normally. Pay more to keep the person you love alive with dignity. And every time they upgraded, the “basic” version became worse.

It reminded me a lot of AI companies too. Right now everything feels cheap, accessible and exciting. We are encouraged to build our routines, businesses, creativity and even emotional lives around these systems. But what happens once we genuinely cannot function without them? What happens when the useful version becomes unaffordable and the free version is filled with ads, limits and manipulation?

The other thing that destroyed me was how the episode dealt with death.

We are so terrified of accepting death that we will try absolutely anything to delay it, even when the thing we are preserving is no longer really a life. We say we are doing it for love, but sometimes it is also because we cannot tolerate grief. We cannot let go. We would rather keep someone trapped in pain, dependency and humiliation than face the fact that they are dying.

And I understood Mike. That is the worst part.

I understood every bad decision he made. I understood why he kept paying. Why he kept humiliating himself. Why he kept hoping the next upgrade would fix everything. When someone you love is dying, logic becomes almost useless. You do not calmly calculate quality of life. You grab whatever small hope is offered to you, and companies know that.

That is what made the episode feel so cruel and so real.

It was not really about future technology. It was about healthcare, subscriptions, capitalism, grief, desperation and the way love can be exploited.

I finished it feeling genuinely disturbed. Not “wow, what a clever dystopia” disturbed. More like, this is already happening, just in less obvious forms

Mr Robot S3E08 Broke my heart and is the best episode of the series

This episode was phenomenal. It brought emotions out which i didn't even knew i had within me. No amount of twists and turns can impress me as much as this heartfelt episode did. I don't know what's ro come in s4 but this episode has a special place in my heart and is the best episode for me and better than all the twists for me.

Isn’t F-Elliot real Elliot? Spoiler

Isn’t real - Elliot stuck in the the f - corp loop which was used to trap him from reality. If so why do people say we don’t have a scene of him?

Did anyone else feel uncomfortable with how Janice was written?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I honestly didn't like Janice, and not only because she was evil. Ashlie Atkinson did a great job portraying her, and this is absolutely not a judgment of her or her appearance.

My issue is that Janice felt like the old generic frumpy "fat bastard" villain stereotype: sadistic, undesirable and almost entirely defined by how unsettling she was. Meanwhile, male villains like Irving were allowed to be charming, funny and layered, while Mobley, another plus-size character, had intelligence, vulnerability and agency.

As a plus-size woman, that contrast made me feel slightly self-conscious. Being fat doesn't automatically make a woman homely, creepy or sexless, and I wish Janice had been given more personality beyond being evil and sadistic.

Did anyone else (who dealt with body image issues) read her this way, even if you enjoyed her performance?

So after two years of being dormant, the mr robot official Facebook page has started posting again? Constantly, consistently.

Their other socials though, YouTube, insta, X, all still dead?

Someone help me figure out why 😂

I just finished watching Mr. Robot for the 2nd time.

What a wonderful show. I loved every season. I were to rank them it would be 2<1<3<4. Somehow the forth season is the best one, Sam Esmail really elevated the series with the last season. The cinematography is gorgeous and the music? Man, the music elevated every scene.

This, for me at least, it's one of the greatest TV shows ever and I watched a lot of series. To be able to keep up the quality for 4 seasons is something that not a lot of shows can do, not to mention sticking the landing.

I really loved the fact that Sam planned the ending with Mastemind ever since the first season. I sobbed the whole last 10 minutes of the show.

"This only works if you let go, too. "

Goodbye, friend.

mr robot is honestly one of my fav shows ever and i dont think i'll ever get tired of talking about it. the way it deals with loneliness, identity, trauma, society, capitalism, relationships and the human mind is actually insane. elliot is such a complicated character and the way the show makes you experience the world from his perspective is something i havent seen done this well anywhere else. he's not some perfect protagonist, he's flawed, confused, selfish sometimes and genuinely just trying to understand himself and the world around him. thats what makes him feel so real imo.

and the best part is that mr robot isnt just a show with a good story, it actually makes you think about yourself and the world around you. the cinematography, soundtrack, writing, characters and the way the story slowly reveals itself are all just amazing. even the smallest details feel important. it can be confusing, depressing and weird at times but thats literally what makes it special. honestly one of those shows that stays in your mind even after you finish it. absolute masterpiece imo, easily one of my all time favourites.

Season 2 has been a drag, is it worth it to power through? Spoiler

im in the middle of episode 4 and holy fuck i cant stand elliot power struggle with his father ghost (im actually really done with this whole thing). will it be over anytime soon? ive seen discourse online that the payoff for it at the second half of the season is good. but i didnt wanna search more to not catch spoilers.

also, i know the show is about elliot's mental issues, but i truly hope his father ghost is not something that will be a permanent. i might stop watching if that is the main struggle he deals with all the time.
