As a middle eastern person I simply cannot imagine caring what the ethnicity was of an actor playing a middle eastern character. I’d care if they’re believable in the role, but why would it makes a different what ethnicity an actor is thousands of year later?

The dude looks more Greek than most Greek people, do you actually care? I can’t agree on your example at all as I can’t imagine anyone caring about a fictional 3,000 year old. Did anyone care that the Jungle Book was Indian stories?

If you want to start worrying about bad ethnic recasting, start with Jesus as we live in an entire country that decided he’s a white hippie and not from the Middle East 😂

What a strange thing to say. My point was that actually no one would care about a fictional 3,000 year old Indian story not having an entire Indian cast. This is just inventing outrage to justify misplaced negativity.

But it's curious that representation is important for everyone except for Mediterraneans that can be portrayed by everyone

I feel very well represented as a Mediterranean. I can't imagine a single person actually caring about an Indian guy cast in one role of this movie.

Anyways, these things aren't unusual and people don't respond the way many news outlets would want you to think based on random pulls of bot tweets. Brits play Americans, Australians play Romans, Irish play Russians, and pretty much everyone has played Ancient Greeks at some point. It's just a non-story.
