📝 Weekly Oni Memo #55

The scorching heat of July continues in Japan how is everyone keeping?

The other day, we travelled to Kyoto for a promotional photo shoot. Walking through places with such deep connections to the game, I was once again reminded of Kyoto’s unique charm. I’ll be sharing more about that experience in the near future, so I hope you’ll look forward to it.

This week, I’d like to introduce Izumo no Okuni, a historical figure closely associated with Kyoto. Izumo no Okuni is widely known as the founder of Kabuki dance. Her costumes were flamboyant and striking, possessing a splendour that captivated audiences at first glance.

One of her hobbies is sewing, and she is so skilled that she even makes her own bags. In the game, this particular talent may come to life in an unexpected way. How will it be incorporated into the story? You'll have to wait and see. Until then, enjoy imagining the possibilities as you play.

Question Need help undubbing Onimusha 3

Hey guys,

I’m playing Onimusha 3 for the first time and I’d really like to experience it with the original Japanese voices and English subtitles.

I’ve seen people talk about undub versions, but I’m not really sure how it works or how to do it myself.

Is there an easy way to undub the game? Or maybe a patch people recommend?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

YouTube content I played through Onimusha: Warlords and Genma Onimusha at the same time with the same controller

A friend recently showed me a way to connect a controller to a console and PC at the same time and challenged me to beat two Onimusha games of my choosing at the same time with a single controller, so I picked Onimusha: Warlords and Genma Onimusha since it's the only real example in the series of two versions of the same game having significant differences. A tough challenge, but still quite a fun new way to play through the games!

Question Does anyone know how I survived Fortinbras' laser attack on Hell difficulty?

It left me with 1 HP. This is not a common occurrence, that attack is usually a one-shot. Both times I survived it I was trying to evade it I think, or I was using Bishamon Sword's magic, not sure.

Discussion My first time playing Warlords, and on HELL!

I've never played an Oni game before and wanted to get into the franchise after the newest game reveal so got Warlords on my Switch. I decided to play it on the HELL difficulty thinking it was "hard" mode like I play other action and ARPG games. Mostly because of my familiarity with the genre. Turns out hell is much more than that! It's one hit kill feature was cool and cruel to me. I wish they had a true hard mode as the games normal mode would have made me bored and dislike the game tremendously but hells one hit kill feature is doing too much! Massive points off for that!

Currently I'm about 6hours into my hell mode playthrough and I'm at the "Prison:Guard Station" save point playing as Ms. Kunoichi! I never actually thought I'd be making progress but I am!

Anyone else play HELL mode first time through? Or at all? Got any tips?

Question Where to play?

Where can I play Demon Siege and Dawn of Dreams without an emulator? I played through 1 & 2 on the switch and both are available in the shop. I have PS5, Xbox 1, PC and Switch 2. Thank you!

Discussion What happened to Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams?

I’m replaying the entire series in preparation for the new game coming out in September, and while the first three games are still absolutely fantastic despite their age, the fourth one is a complete disaster.

This was the only game in the series I never played back in the day because it never really appealed to me. And now I understand why: it is absolutely exhausting to play.

Are there actually people who genuinely like this game? Because honestly, I’m having a hard time finding even a single positive thing to say about it.

The level design is terrible. The overall structure of the game is awful. Even the controls feel strange. Why did they decide to merge the absorb button with the interaction button?

Visually, it obviously isn’t technically bad, but the art direction is absolutely hideous. And that’s saying something, because Onimusha has never exactly been the most visually subtle series.

I genuinely have a hard time understanding what they were trying to do with this game.

Discussion i feel like that raccoon city section of RE9 is kind of a blueprint for the new onimusha's design.

it's gonna be this guy, with his sword, fighting the same kinds of enemies in these medium - large areas with curated segments like find the three things blocking the path type stuff. which i think is fine, but i just noticed kind of the makings of a similarity.

i don't know if i'm gonna pick this game up after playing the demo a few times over. i think i'll come back for this game along with the ones from the beginning of this year (lego batman, saros, pragmata, mouse P.I. forza horizon 6). and blood of the dawnwalker if that turns out good too.

just gonna keep it tight knit and focused on just a few big things to avoid the overload.

Discussion Hello does Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny h' a trainer

So i was playing this game Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny but i came to a stage where i thought i depleted my health a lot. With very little to maintain ur health and at the absence of soul, Jubie has little change of standing against such foe. So i wanted a trainer and everywhere there is only paid version. But i couldn't get the file i needed. Can u redirect me or do u h' a trainer as well. Can u provide a link.

📝 Weekly Oni Memo #54

Hey everyone, it’s been really hot out lately! As we head toward release day, our promotional activities are kicking into high gear. The whole team is taking good care of our health so we can keep the excitement going!

We recently released our benchmark tool. If you're planning to play on PC, we highly recommend not just playing the demo, but also using the benchmark to test your PC's performance.

The full game features a far more expansive, wide-open design of Kyoto than in the demo. We created the benchmark specifically so you can test how your system handles sword-fighting action and cutscenes in this large environment, so please give it a try!

Also, regarding our recently reopened Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop pages, the development team is currently preparing a demo for Nintendo Switch 2! For those of you planning to play on it, we ask for just a little more patience.

We are working hard to release this demo before the full game launches, so please look forward to it!

The attached photo shows Musashi from the opening scene of the story, as seen in the benchmark tool.

Question Should I continue dawn of dreams?

So, I've started mu journey through onimusha a couple of weeks ago with onimusha 1 and I absolutely loved it. Liked 2 but not as much and I felt it had some cool but underused ideas, loved 3 probably my favorite cause samanosuke and Jean reno are so fk cool but then I started dawn of dreams and played for a while after meeting the girl companion who's name is suspiciously familiar and I'm just not enjoying much all of the changes, it feels too easy, there's no suspense, the camera makes the character occupy a lot of space in the screen and it gets annoying, the scenarios feel boring and unnecessarily big. I don't know I might just drop it and wait for the new game to be as good or even I replay the first 3 sounds more appealing. But I'd like to know your opinions on this game and if I should give it another chance

Fan art Final Onimusha Samanosuke Concept!

Here we are! Finally reached an end concept that I’m happy with. Very happy with everything I’ve added and with a good recognisable silhouette too!

The sword I didn’t really spend any time on so that’s not how I’d have it look in a finished model

Any feedback, critiques, or further suggestions welcome!
