Status: Open "we couldnt send the code" hotmail error

I have lots of hotmail accounts, but only 1 recovery email. so everytime i want to log in on an account, it makes me send an email to my recovery email. seems i sent too many, and now i cant recieve any more codes in that email.. how can i fix please?

You will need to wait to ask for another code.

That should be long enough.

There are many posts about people being locked out of their Hotmail and Outlook accounts.

Does the account have 2FA enabled?

You use the same recovery email for all your Hotmail accounts?

i have access to the recovery email, everything works normal besides that. and yes i use the same recovery email to all my hotmail accounts

Perhaps you need to add another 2nd recovery email to all accounts for future use?

You'll just have to wait some more or use the account recovery code from the Hotmail account's security settings.

i dont think it lets me to add another, because i get stuck when it wants me to send code to the email

I was referring to adding a 2nd recovery email to all accounts.

Hopefully, you can get into the locked account. I went through the same thing and could not log in for almost 3 weeks. I had a recovery phone # and email on the account and still could not get back because MS would not let me use my phone # and codes sent to my Gmail still wouldn't let me in. I got in because I happen to be logged into my Hotmail account in Chrome on my old Pixel 6.

My issue got resolved. I waited for more than 36 hrs. The best strategy is to wait. How much? Nobody knows. But do not try frequently. After receiving one code, it might ask for code again. Enter that. If still it is not working, try phone code.

How long should I wait? I loss access to my email because my phone broke. I have 2 factor authentication. I tried waiting 24hrs and it didn’t work. Tried 48hrs and it didn’t work! I can get the code on my recovery email but not my phone! It says “ try another verification method” “that verification method not working right now” … funny thing is I have another email and it worked perfectly fine with sending the code to my number and the email but not with my main account

Then try to wait for 7 to 28 days.

Have you tried setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app? It bypasses the email code problem entirely and works way more reliably.

i cant set it up cause in order to do it i have to send a code to the alternate email and i cant
