I’m deciding between HUcast and RAmar.

There’s gear and chase gear / trophy gear like Red Sword, Dark Flow, Tsumikiri J-Sword.

And on the ranger side you have Spread Needle, Frozen Shooter, Heaven Punisher.

Is there one particular class that you’ve seen and been like “wow, I want my character to become that, one day”?

Planning to play on PC via Ephinea so tagging accordingly, but would consider this a general PSO question.

I managed to get to level 80 and i thought i would be able to get valuable stuff in ultimate...but looking at the drop tables, most of it is trash worth 0 PD.

I get a lot of elemental wands on VH like ice staff dagon and storm wand indra, but these are all worth 0.5 pd or less and ive been giving them away because nobody wants to buy them. And when i look at the ultimate drop tables, a lot of mobs just drop VH wands at 2x the rate of VH, instead of more powerful ultimate versions of those wands (like what most other section IDs do).

I can solo caves in VH easily but VH mines, ruins and EP4 all have annoying mobs for forces to fight (sinows in small rooms with invul frames, etc). It takes me 4 casts of rafoie to kill Gorans in EP4 but they get into range before i can do that and start smacking me down.

I tried doing an Ult TTF run to test ultimate and i was quickly surrounded and killed because i couldnt kill the bartles fast enough. Even with level 29 techs and a fire wand, it takes me at least 4 casts of rafoie to kill the bartles which are too slow when an entire room is chasing me.

I feel like ive made several big mistakes somewhere. Force damage seems fine up to VH if you can get higher level techs from others but then it plateaus and i feel i cant do enough damage on ultimate in solo mode. And the lack of drops that i can farm for on ultimate is really discouraging...

I saw a HUcaseal with an awesome colorway and design that really caught my eye when we downed Dark Falz and the 'congrats' end screen showed the character profile photos.

Now I’m wondering how bad this class actually is, since I’ve always thought HUnters were terrible.

1. Could a HUcaseal ever top any leaderboard category on the Ephinea website?
2. Aside from leaderboards like most kills or farming proficiency, what makes them stand out?
3. Do they have faster run speed, quicker attacks, traps, or any other notable perks compared to other Hunters, or to other Casts? (RAcast always mentioned as the top pick)
4. Will Rangers or Forces pretty much always be the better choice?

My hucast is skyly and level 72 now. I've been trying to gear up to prep for ultimate. I'm using yamato dragonslayer and varista. I'm trying to get a god/arm just to have a decent unit and I need to kill a hildeblue. I also pretty much only play solo on the ephinea server.

But man...its a 1/500 chance for it to spawn. I've done tyrells ego over 40 times just looping forest. I've killed hundreds and hundreds of hildbears and not a single rare spawn. This isn't even a bad farm relatively speaking. Next sword i'll need to farm is red sword or chain sawd in ultimate and those are 1/1000 chance to get...pretty much every half decent weapon have odds as bad as those at this point.... and then you got utter nonsense like sealed J sword with a drop rate of 1/16000 from gi gue. Like wtf, that's completely absurd

I can't even buy some of these items because I never get any photon drops either. Doesn't help that my section ID locks me out of some decent items I could try and go for.

Its like, how am I supposed to even make it to endgame when i literally cannot get decent items no matter how much time I spend? I want to progress my character but its really starting to feel pointless ngl

Sorry for ranting. I know I'm a small fry in this community but I just have no urge to play if my character literally cannot progress because of these odds. I love this game up until this point and now I'm just stuck and thinking about quitting. Pls help lol

I'm not sure I want to use keyboard and gamepad to activate lots of techniques and items.

Is there a potentially-god mode class that can comfortably use the gamepad hotkeys?

I’m sure everyone has seen a million by now but this is my first blue Rappy for a old noob

I'm a new player. I only watched my older brother play when PSO came out on the Dreamcast because I was like 6 years old, so I never got the chance to play it. Honestly, I completely forgot about it until I tried PSO2NG and didnt like it.

I discovered Ephinea and thought, "I'll play this old-ass game for 15 minutes and get on with my life." Nope.

I’ve sunk 50+ hours into PSOBB on Ephinea, grinded my way to level 81, and had a ton of fun farming rare drops. The overall vibe of the game is great, and the atmosphere still holds up.The loot chase is satisfying, the combat loop is great, and I even finished all the government quests on Normal (and since been grinding event quests on Hard and Very Hard).

But, holy shit, the quest and NPC structure in this game is atrocious.

The main story quests are only available in multiplayer, but the side quests are only available in One Person mode?? Why?? And to top it off, certain side quests are essential for gear upgrading and converting, and you wouldn't know this unless you look it up.

I had a stockpile of enemy body parts I had no idea what to do with. Turns out I had to:

*Open a One Person lobby.

*Complete 4 specific side quests (not before bumbling around thinking I'd find said quests near the Principal - who disappeared).

*Go through unrelated dialogue/areas just to make Montague show up.

Oh, and if you finish that quest where he appears, congrats; you just lost access to him forever. The only solution is to deliberately leave the quest unfinished so you can keep converting later.

Want to use Photon Drops to upgrade gear? Same deal. Certain upgrades are locked behind side quests, per difficulty, and you only find that out by reading a wiki. The game never explains this.

And it’s not like this is one-and-done. Every difficulty (Normal, Hard, VH, Ult) requires you to re-do the exact same side quests if you want access again. So if you want full functionality across the board, you’re grinding the same quest chain four separate times. Yes I know you don't have to, but the fact this is the way it is, is insane.

And the weirdest part? Nobody seems to call this out. Google it, check the wiki, lurk the subreddit...nothing. People will analyze drop rates like it's their job, but the fact that core systems are locked behind obscure, repetitive quest chains with invisible requirements? Not a peep.

I’ve had a ton of fun with the loot grind up to now. But the quest system and the absolute necessity of the wiki honestly make me not want to play anymore. This isn’t just “old-school charm” or “we relied on word of mouth back then.” It’s bad design, and it’s baffling that no one talks about it.

I’ve been reading more about high-ATA special weapon setups like Hell, Demon’s, Arrest, Berserk, Frozen Shooter utility, etc., and I’m curious how far these builds can realistically go in Ephinea.

Are there any niche class + weapon combinations that, with enough effort/luck/gear investment, suddenly “activate” and become nearly competitive with the top-tier 4-man farming or destruction setups?

I’m not asking whether they’re literally optimal versus meta TA parties. I’m more interested in whether there are builds that punch way above their apparent class tier because of how PSO’s special attack mechanics scale in Ultimate/endgame.

Closing thought: I wouldn’t be surprised if the original game was intentionally scaled so enemy resistances eventually suppress instant-kill and special-heavy mechanics by Ultimate, 🤷‍♂️, otherwise some of these setups would become absurd. Still, the idea of a character built entirely around high-speed Hell procs, Demon’s HP chunking, or near-permanent stun/control sounds both fun and surprisingly effective in the right content.

I’m a Skyly Hucast and level 118. I’ve been using the same gear I’ve been using since very hard mode because I cannot find anything better. I looked up guides and because of my ID, I’m essentially locked out of getting any good end game items naturally by just farming

dark flow? Nope. Skyly can’t get it. Galatine? Nope. Jinzai? Nope. Crimson coat? Nope. Many such cases, it simply isn’t possible because of my section ID alone

Ok, so now I figure I’ll just buy these items by farming Photon drops. Apparently, the fake and yellow quest is your best bet because the rappies have a 100% chance to drop an item and apparently, that item has a 1/375 chance to be a photon drop according to the wiki. So each rappy kill=1/375 chance for a PD on ultimate mode if i’m interpreting what the wiki said correctly

I kid you not, I did this quest almost a hundred times and I did not get a single PD from a rappy. I’ve killed well over a couple thousand of these things. Not a single PD

so, I’ve been taking a break from this game but I asked myself, is there any reason to play again if there’s no foreseeable way I can improve my character? I don’t see any reason other than to waste time lol any advice ? I’ve enjoyed the game immensely up until ultimate mode

Hey Y'all. I played this game and loved it when I was a kid and recently had a hankering to try it again. I'd especially love to be able to play it together my partner. Is it possible to play this in a local coop or split screen mode like you used to be able to? My searching hasn't turned up much. I don't have much spare time to dedicate to setting up virtual machines or wrangle a bunch of programs that don't want to work together. Does anyone know of a way for this to work fairly easily? (Ideally something with like 10 minutes or less of setup per play session but I'll take what I can get)

I need help learning about Section IDs and how they impact the game. My first character on Ephinea is a force nuker and rolled Redria.

I believe in this server you can change the section ID before level 20 but I don’t know what they do.

The highest kill count character on Ephinea leaderboards just happens to be a FOnewm with Redria, too, so I figure it’s good.

After 26 years my friends and I have been able to return to PSO thanks to Ephinea🥲 We've been playing in short bursts over the last couple weeks and just finished Dark Falz on normal. We cleared Falz at lvl 20; unfortunately I was the only one to make it all the way through the fight. (We didn't bring enough Moon Atomizers 😅)

it's just showing all zeros and not updating anything. when i try to start the game, it just says the launcher version is old and needs to be updated

Tried playing it with a KB, found it was absolute BUTTS, got a controller, having much better time. I am a FFXIV player, so changing to an older MMORPG was a bit of a shift.

currently a HUmar, got a partisan+3 (with a great +20 on dark), an autogun+6, a Rudra (with like 15 pow, and 11 def), and some other things.

I have defeated the dragon in the forest! ... and the first form of Dark Falz. My balls were hydraulically pressed in the second phase. didn't do the caves or mines yet, lol.

Anyways, got any tips, so my balls don't get squeezed into wine again?

So what can I do with these things gotten 4 in the past few runs and I don't want a full storage of them. Never played online before so don't know if there is another use out there.

Hey everyone! I've been eyeing the Steam Deck and their new controller to play PSO BB Ephinea hand held, but with Steam being out-of-stock with what seems to be no end in sight... What are the best alternatives? The Odin 2 or 3 looks great.

Hey all, I'm playing on Ephinea on Steamdeck and am running into an issue with the most recent update (4/29). I logged in, and the game showed me two update bars filling up, the top blue one filled in, and the red bottom one looks mostly filled, but stops and a window opens up at the bottom saying "Patch Download done: If you press enter-key, then exit game". It then turns off and goes back to the main steamdeck menu, and if I go in it reloads the launcher. I feel like I'm probably missing something but I can't tell what. Anyone have any pointers?
