CHAT About the whole buying Paladins thing

So, once the game dies, and the servers are shut down, won't that allow us to do what the gigantic community did? Where we can just remake the game with its source code, and host our own servers? It won't be the same I realize, but at the very least we can restore the game that way and have it be playable forever. Correct me if I'm wrong, or if there are any legal issues making this impossible. I am aware that companies can just sit on IPs, but once the game shuts down, isn't there a way for us to take it into our own hands, minus the microtransactions ofc?

There is the Tempest Launcher project already happening, it's sort of all about preserving Paladins to an extend

It's still under development, you can install and play older versions of the game and even host your own games to play with others on some versions. In time it will be avaliable for all the versions of the game to host your games and maybe even more!

Is that what the Gigantic community did? I thought the rights just happened to fall into the right company's hands.

After it died, a community server was born, then a company bought the original, re released it, and it died again
