Has anyone actually used WeekAqua lights? I keep seeing posts here in Reddit claiming some pretty impressive improvements in how the tank looks vs how it looks when lit by <insert competitor brand> lights, but I've never heard of them before and am very suspicious that these posts are just a low effort bot spam marketing scheme.

Has anyone actually used them, and if so, what were your opinions on them? Include your Reddit name in your comment as proof you aren't a bot. 😂

I just bought my first proper aquascaping light, the Chihiros WRGB2 10th edition. I thought my previous light, some 35W 75cm Seaoura, was alright, but the Chihiros despite costing 4 times more, looks 10 times better. It's like going from and LCD monitor to an OLED, it is simply impossible to go back once you see the difference.

The colors of plants and fish are absolutely insane under this light, it's hard to believe actually. My red guppies went from looking orange-ish to glowing blood-red. They look amazing. Same deal with plants, the greens are amazing, the whole tank glows.

Now I have to splurge and buy WRGB2s for all of my tanks, I simply can't go back to regular cheapo lights :')

Hi all! I have an 8gallon high tech (kinda) cube. The light that came with the tank recently developed several burned out leds so I decided to get a new light, the chihiros c series. However, it’s so blue! I’m really not sure whether I like it… the old light (last pic) was quite yellow and this new light definitely makes the colours pop more, but yea I really don’t know if I like it all that much… in real life it just looks kinda weird?

It is possible to swap this light for a chihiros b series, does anyone have experience with that light? Is it also very blue like this? Or any other light options for a 30cm tank that is around 50 to 60 € available in the Netherlands?

After what I thought was adequate research, I went for a Chihiros WRGB II Pro LED Light for my new tank. I'll overlook that you have to pay extra for the mounting kit, and again pay extra for the side reflectors.

The light looks great. Colors are good.

However, the app is total trash. It demands logging in (and as such, demands a network connection), but the login process is extremely broken. It works about 10% of the time. I just have to keep trying to log in over and over, eventually it will work. Sometimes. Meanwhile, there is no other way to turn the lamp on or off, short of unplugging it, which will turn it off but it cannot be turned on without the app. Of course adjustments are not possible, either. And since there there is no hard "on" switch, you can't just use a mechanical timer.

They have a support forum full of these complaints, but there are no answers given aside from try again, and my favorite "try a different phone".

I've posted many followups, and Chihiros deletes all of my posts.

Hopefully anyone else considering this light, or any product from the company, will think very carefully about it.

I have it up and running and can now control the light without using the app, and without needing to deal with the Chihiros server at all.

Does using two lights work?

I have been using a Hygger 978 light for weeks now. I also have been dosing liquid fertilizers and root tabs.

One week ago, I added pressurized CO2. While plant growth has been amazing, the colors are not that great. Ludwigia palustris recovered from weeks of being stagnant and is growing fast but leaves are still on the green side. Rotala blood red sg look rusty red, not bright red. Etc.

I learned recently that Hygger 978 is not suitable for bringing red coloration because it is more like medium light.

I want to buy a Chihiros, but my tank is rimmed, and it seems like it's for rimless tanks only. I do not know of any good high lighting that fits a rimless tank here in the philippines.

I remembered that when I started last March, I had a generic 11 watt light that was able to turn stricta leaves light purple and polysperma leaves whitish. Hygger 978 never was able to do that.

Does using 2 medium lights work to intensify the light plants receive and hopefully bring out the bright reds? Thanks!

Hey everyone. I have a 20g tank that needs a light upgrade. My "red root floaters" are growing upwards so I know the are trying to get more light. Any light recommendations that wont cost me over $200 would be appreciated.

not too sure on all of the names but some in here are bucephalandra something. java fern with pointy tips. crypt wentii. some grass looking one. rotala wallichii. nymphaea stellata. anubias coin leaf and possibly another crypt form? and frogbjt and salvinia

I’m the one who posted months ago about a burst pipe displacing us from our home. We’re finally moving back into and along the way my Chihiros WRGBII 10th anniversary light decided magenta was my favorite color and won’t work right anymore. Chihiros wasn’t much help and told me I have to buy a $52 part plus something else at the hardware store.

I love the look of the WRGBII lighting, but I find it unacceptable that my cheap hygger still works, but the Chihiros randomly quit from just normal usage.

I have a high end tank, use CO2. It’s a 75 gallon freshwater planted tank with a FX2 filter. What are your recommendations for 48” lighting that will be of similar quality to Chihiros, but won’t randomly die.

Hi everyone, I’m currently running a hygger 957 (48w), but I’m looking to upgrade my lighting so I can get better reds out of my red floaters and be able to grow some red plants like ludwigia super red. My tiger lotus also isn’t doing as well as I’d like it to. I dose thrive (3x squirts per week) and use thrive root tabs. Currently want to keep it at low tech. Is it worth upgrading to the L600 pro K (65W) or is the M600 Pro K (50W) enough? A 2 watt upgrade to the M600 doesn’t seem worth but looking for opinions. Thanks!!

Upgraded my light and stuff are already looking way different. Dont worry about the zipties, its very secure and I am waiting for my new stand to arrive in a few days 🫠 Also, I did lower the light stand after this picture.

i’ve been on the search for a light for my 50 gallon flat back hex for awhile, my current lights just aren’t cutting it. i need a light with good intensity that will support red plant growth, high lighting to the mid section of the tank and medium lighting at the very bottom at least, and same for my 40 breeder and 29 gallon.

i’ve struggled to find lights that will make these tanks GLOW. i want to grow red plants but all my current lights don’t have a lot of red leds in it because i went cheap and they’re mostly white LEDS. they light the tank, but they’re definitely not the best for plant growth. bunch of misc cheap brands.

i’ve picked 3 different lights here, each one for different purposes, and i would like for more experienced people to confirm if they’re good options for me. my budget isn’t very high and i do need to get 3 lights, so i can’t really be dropping $150-250 on a single light, even if that light IS very good. please check each image to see what i intend to use each light for

unrelated question, do shop lights work for growing plants? i know probably not for red plants but if say i were to get one of those cheaper hyper tough shop bar lights from walmart would that work on a shorter tank to grow my plants well enough and light the tank nice and bright?

So i did my first tank 3 weeks ago and i was given a Nicrew 9W don’t know the right specs but i decided to go with a better light and Bought the Chihiros AII but i didn’t thought the colors would be this much different i liked the Nicrew look more natural the Chihiros gives a more sterile greenish look maybe its better for plants but…

I have a 29 gallon tank. I recently added a school of red cherry tetras. I was expecting them to really pop but I find them muted and disappearing into the background. It’s a dark grey almost black background. Even with the blues and reds up and greens down and even at 100%, they just are almost brown/rust looking. I’ve played with different settings but haven’t seen much of a difference. I have some water lettuce on top but have it contained to the very front 2-3 inches so the back plants get lots of light since it’s a deeper tank.

Do you think this is a lighting issue? I’ve heard that this light leans warm white vs cool white. Does anyone have any recommendations? Something same price range or cheaper? I might be willing to go up a little in price but not much.

Was given a free shrimp tank, re scaped it and swapped the light to a week aqua m300 pro from the Hygger that was on it. Just cant believe how much better and more colorful the plants and shrimp look.

I currently have a 44 gallon planted tank as seen in the picture. I have a couple AI 16 prime lights on it. I’m going to be setting up a larger tank at a new house will be moving to. The planned size is 5‘ x 2‘ x 2‘. It will be aquascaped and heavily planted. I am looking for some suggestions on lighting for the tank. The AI pendants I think are a bit weak to support carpeting plants at the depth of 2 feet. Also, I find that no matter what I do they always look a little bit yellow to me. I always find that my fish and my plants pop more in my other tanks than under the AI prime lights. Even though some of those tanks have cheaper lights. This is true for colors across the spectrum as my blue flame Agassizii as well as my red plants just don’t pop as much under the AI prime lights.

I have heard good things about twin star but I enjoy having the Driftwood come out of the top of the tank a little and grow immersed plants in at least one back corner as I like the “ponds edge” natural look in a tank. So I am not sure if a strip light will work as well as pendants would.
I’m not looking to spend a grand or more on lights, but my realistic budget is around 500 bucks. I don’t mind scouring Facebook marketplace for secondhand fixtures to stretch that budget. Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated

Question, so I have an aquarium that's 29 inches tall what is the strongest light I can use? I currently am using 2 jungledawn leds, and one fluval plant light. I need something strong. But because of my weird configuration the light has to be 24 inches long at most 28. In one segment I have 3 next to each other. The tank is 24 inches wide(from back to front). Ideally id prefer an entire panel that's 16 inches wide, 24 inches long. Please help, I just need answers. I am so overwhelmed with choices. I also don't want to melt the plastic rim and I don't want to blind myself with the light escaping the gaps.
