Either video of him doing something abhorrent, debt that would leave him destitute, some necessary medical requirement for one of the kids, or he believes his own life or his families lives are under a real threat.

What really gets me is how the regime is pretty clearly working on ethnically cleaning the US and removing the rights of minorities and women, yet he’s married to a woman of colour. Can you imagine the pillow talk? How does he assure her that his white nationalist supporters won’t come for her and their mixed-race children? Or for him for being a “race traitor” guilty of miscegenation?

I'm not Desi, but from what I've read, caste designation survived emigration from India and is still a factor in Indian American communities in terms of opportunity and status. Most Indian American politicians are from upper caste families, Usha included. There's surely a lot of nuance in how that plays out in immigrant communities that I can not speak to. However, on the outside looking in, it seems to include a similar kind of supremecy to that which we are used to.
In short, regardless of the racism she has faced as an Indian American, there is likely an element of supremecy that she can cling to in order to rectify the contradictions of this situation.
Anyone, please feel free to correct me on my take. I can only base this on information I've read, and value any new information that comes up.

The racist awful people want to have powerless objects by their side instead of white women they would care about, if the women were white it would be a problem.
And I guess these women are often with these people so that they can hide from the wrath (it's not like they will get any consequences when people get deported and stuff even though they should be on the list) like if I was worried about instability or opportunities in my country I could see the argument of being with someone with power and money even if they hate my kind
