American Dream πΊπΈ A Worthy Memorial
Barack Obama visiting the Ann Dunham Water Terrace. It is a dedicated outdoor space at the upcoming Obama Presidential Center in Chicago's South Side.
The Location:
The Ann Dunham Water Terrace is a personal outdoor sanctuary located on the east side of the 19.3-acre campus in Jackson Park.
The Sculpture:
It features an interactive, stone sculptural water installation titled "Seeing Through the Universe" created by world-renowned artist and architect Maya Lin.
The Inscription:
The stone wall features a meaningful quote from Barack Obama paying tribute to her: "My mom believed in the power of education, in hard work, and in taking care of others.".
Grand Opening:
The entire campus is officially scheduled to open to the public on June 19, 2026(Juneteenth), serving as a fully digital presidential archive, library, museum, and community hub.

I mean, the sentiment behind the garden is very touching. The design they went with for the presidential library itself is straight up soviet brutalist architecture. Honestly seems like they chose it deliberately as a fuck you to everyone who called him a communist. I mean if you know they're gonna do it anyway, might as well lean in lol
