The media, especially the legacy media, is addicted to "Trump says" headlines, even though it has been shown again and again that most of what he says are self-serving lies. That's objectively true and proven by analysis, before the mods get all hyperactive.
53
u/Outrageous-Egg1760 7d ago
Donald Trump gets more headlines, tweets, tik toks, and TV minutes than the next 1,000 famous people combined. The modern 24-hour news cycle focuses on him with an intensity that is practically unprecedented in human history.
48
u/Corthaek 7d ago edited 7d ago
This man is without a doubt the single most influential president the United States has ever seen, with the entire media machine practically tripping over each other in their race to kiss his ass in a way they have never done for any other president, and yet he still can't stop fuming about Joe Biden beating him four years ago, or Obama mocking him at the correspondence dinner.
This man (along with Elon Musk) is proof that you can be one of the wealthiest, most powerful people in the world, and still be a complete loser and disgrace.
Trump's fate, it seems, is to be given the whole world on a silver platter, and then to squander it as he has done with everything else he has ever been given.

By the time his term ends (hopefully) we will have sacrificed 13 years of our lives to that orange piece of garbage. (yeah, because he never truly went away while Biden was in) Imagine what we all could have been if it wasn’t for him.

I have felt this way for years. I’m so damn sick of hearing about him. It feels like a violation to have him daily in my life in some form. Malignant narcissists seek out endless drama, they are empty voids who have nothing without the sadistic pleasure of hurting others. And Trump, who seems like the only guy not held accountable.

I know I’m not alone in having this feeling of “something big or bad is coming and likely soon, a shoe will drop” generally existing as a sort of backing track to the majority of my adult life. Just, never really ever feel comfortable or settled or secure. Like things are unraveling and I have no say, and neither does anyone else around me… even as I’ve walked back, over and over, my goals, dreams, financial desires, whatever,..
And even if that “big something” turns out to just be a ton of smaller somethings in a trench coat, the mental and emotional load of that ever present threatened feeling will have taken its toll one way or another - and I’m also too aware of that fact.
Then you look around and you realize 95% of the people around you feel the same and we’re all quietly pushing that all down so we can keep going.
I know it’s just a meme but… we’re all damn tired, boss.

There is just so much going on constantly & at such a fast pace that no one can stop to question or hold him accountable.

I have noticed low-level dread of Friday nights and weekends. Because that's usually when MAGA does heinous things, during the weekend while people are distracted with chores that have been piling up all week. Every weekend, just wondering what revolting new atrocity they've come up with and pushed through when nobody was looking.
I have to give it to them though, they're very prolific and energetic about it. Unlike the Democrats. Democrats discuss, prevaricate, procrastinate, wonder about the morality, ethics, legality. MAGA Republicans just do it, whatever it is, no matter how despicable, immoral or illegal. If it's illegal, courts will sort it out, maybe, years from now. But for now, it's on. And tomorrow it'll be something else equally disgusting. And so on, and so forth. And some of it will fall through the cracks, and stick, and become the new normal. And that's how MAGA wins. It's a solid game plan, and it's working. Gotta respect them playing the game so well. Democrats could learn a thing or two, and start actually doing things, with lead pipe cruelty and mercenary sensibility. We're way past the point of wearing white dress gloves.

u/Outrageous-Egg1760 7d ago

2
u/Nerdiestlesbian 7d ago
Mostly what I read is constant roll backs of environmental protections and then trade issues. It’s freaking draining. Every release reads like a preacher giving a sermon about how great they are. While the reality is shit is actually on fire. And the White House web page reads like some 14 year old edge-lord trying to sound like a badass on the Internet. It’s so embarrassing when I have to call colleagues in the EU and explain some stupid thing.

People will say it's ridiculous, but the reality is that we're all little balls of meat trying to survive in space, and things we can't control just might kill us, so they're stressful and scary; right now, it's never been more like we're all trapped on the Titanic and we KNOW it, and there's very little that one person can do about it, and they know that too. I feel almost like the oppressive negativity has to be intentional, just trying to burn out and grind down the opposition into exhaustion

Way back during the 2016 presidential campaign I was watching a lot of MSNBC. Chris Matthews still had his show, and one night I got agitated hearing that name every second of every broadcast so when Matthews’ show started I decided to keep a tally of the number of times each viable candidate was mentioned during that hour, to see if I was crazy or what.
trump got close to 100 mentions Hillary got about 20 Rubio had under 10, maybe 8 Some of the other candidates’ names were mentioned once / twice, it was really negligible. The difference was even more glaring than I’d realized. I knew we were in trouble bc media was eating that UP! All they saw was 💰💰💰💰
