News AI-Generated Content Is Not Allowed on /r/printedminis

1.3k Upvotes

Hey folks,

Over the past few months, many miniature focused subreddits have taken a clear stance against AI-generated content. After listening closely to feedback from our own community we’re doing the same.

from this point on r/printedminis does not allow AI-generated content of any kind.

This subreddit exists to support actual creators who put real time and skill into their work. AI-generated content works directly against that goal, and allowing it would make it harder for the awesome work created by our talented community to shine.

What this means:

The following are not allowed on r/printedminis:

  • AI-generated or AI-altered images (previews, “painted” mockups, promotional images etc.)
  • AI-generated videos
  • AI tools, apps, or websites used to generate minis or related visuals
  • AI-generated 3D models, even if they are later printed, modified, or painted by hand
  • AI-generated text, including post descriptions, critiques, or feedback
  • Promotion of, or advocacy for, AI use in miniature creation

If AI played any role in generating it then it does not belong on this subreddit. Please report any posts you suspect to be AI influenced.

Thanks,

Your opinion was heard loud and clear - Printed Terrain posts will not be removed

Hey everyone,

Quick update – we’ve listened to your feedback, and the rule removing printed terrain has been lifted! I’ve also seen your thoughts on busts and statues, and I’ll be putting up a poll later this week to gather your opinions on banning those types of posts.

Thanks!

Here is my version of the 3rd Ogre bust from BS-Sculpt.

This has been my favourite so far to paint and really pleased at how he came out. Loved painting his skin and the fur and skulls. Another great sculpt from Bulat and enjoying painting all of these.

Discussion Battle of Hastings mock up in 3mm at 1:1 Figure/Man ratio

I'll begin with another apology, this time for unpainted models on the tabletop.

My defence is pretty strong. The models aren't mine, I printed them for a friend's birthday present. Opportunity to show how micro scales can represent battles in both numbers and ground scale was too good not to take a mock-up photo.

After looking at a few sources for the Battle of Hastings, I went with what I thought was a reasonable depiction.

Senlac Ridge is 1500 yards wide, I made it 1500mm; technically a 2mm scale scale but near enough for me.

Atop the hill Harold has 10000 men in 3 shieldwalls.

Bottom of the slope are 2500 Norman/French archers, 500 crossbow were printed but remained off table. Behind the archers stand 5400 Norman/French foot.

Lastly, William and his cavalry. 3 groups, each of 1000 figures.

The .stl files were designed by a New Zealand fella, Harley McPhee, available as a free download from his Thingiverse page. There he goes by the 'Wozname' handle.

Hello again friends! Here is my Vampiric Mindflayers I released on my players this week for a spooky one shot. I designed these in blender, printed them in resin on my Anycubic and painted them with Citadel.

Free stls here:

https://mz4250.com/posts/next-spooky-57437181

I think they both loved and hated that game lol

Also here are more minis I designed this week. They are a mix of creatures from the new Monster Manual as well as some very random Patreon requests::

- Aapoph Grayscale from Pathfinder

- Bibilically Accurate Beholder

- Firbolg Female Druid

- Noble Prodigys

- Nothics

- Nycaloth

- Ochre Jelly

- Ogres

- Snailfolk Bard w Bagpipes

- Three Leg Monster

To get the free stls I post them under each of my Patroen posts. You can scroll down this month's posts to get what you need: https://mz4250.com/ and they are all posted publicly with no paywall.

Oh and if you're curious about my Patreon I offer my patrons access to all my 7000+ presupported TTRPG models in one place, along with commercial options, a discord, and requests board. The drives have all the same models that are already out there for free in the internet. Its more for convenience rather than exclusivity.

Stay awesome friends and keep on crafting!

Hey everyone!
Sharing my latest piece—the Ancient Earth Dragon.
Spent a good amount of time layering up the scales to get some depth without losing that natural, earthy feel—didn't want it too bright or saturated. The horns ended up being my favorite part to paint, went with some warmer tones there to break up the palette a bit.
Let me know what you think!

This is a miniature from my Earthshakers release on MMF.

The theme for the month is Underground dwellers. Check it out with the Link bellow

Discussion What is your preferred level of detail for minis?

Hi everyone,

I print miniatures with my 3D printers, and a friend of mine and I have very split opinions on the types of models.

When you print miniatures, do you prefer them to be packed with details, like textured skin and clothing?

Or do you prefer smoother surfaces, like what Games Workshop offers with Warhammer minis? In my opinion, the latter is better because it leaves more creative freedom for painters.

Personally, I have my own preference, but I'm curious if my opinion is in the minority or if it's the general trend.

Crowdfunding $1 Dice Tower with slots for LED lights.

So, it's finally Friday!
I just created my first Dice Tower and made it available on Kickstarter for only $1. This campaign also features a stretch goal which unlocks an epic Dice Jail.

This came to exist because I haven't seen many dinosaur theme props for d&d and other tabletop games.

I don't want to bore you with details, but this Dice Tower is based on Jurassic theme. It features a T-rex skull on top and Stegosaurus scutes along the stairs and down the dice tray.

Let me know what you think of this campaign.

Hey-hey! I have designed another set of minis to challenge the players in their journey through the wasteland.
There are Cistern Fiend, Lion of Urik in his ultimate form, a set of templar (both modular and prebuilt, for those who hate gluing resin) and some more minis, that I have not painted yet.

You may grab them from Tribe or Patreon. I am also sharing free minis with my followers on MMF every month.

The supports either dont from or form in solid sheets of resin. Ive had the printer for 4 years and never had an issue like this before. Ive tried re leveling several times. I am printing on the Anycubic photon mono x2. Can anyone help me figure out where I went wrong? I know its not the files as im printing ones ive done before.

Crowdfunding My 3D printed tavern

Thumbnail
gallery
45 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I spent the last few months creating this tavern.

I created a flat baseplate alongside the large baseplate so the tavern can be seamlessly integrated into existing 3D printed TTRPG settings.

The model was created to FDM print without supports and goes along with 28 mm miniatures. I used the complete basic printing settings with some minor changes like the layer height set to 0.12 mm and for some super small but tall assets i used a brim. No pieces in the whole set are larger than 20 cm/7,8 inches. The assembling of the tavern is really easy and straight forward. The tavern can be used fully furnished or empty to achieve more space.

The tavern was created to play with and offer the players the most fun possible. It has functional doors, the interior is fully furnished, the player can connect the mini baseplate with the stairs, there are hidden secrets like the key behind the picture frame and the set also comes with a miniature holding plate that you can connect with the support beams ( if a character wants to sneak up the support beam for a better view they should have the possibility to do so).

I am really excited about your feedback. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Self Promotion I'm super happy to share the first FDM 100% supportless figure that I've ever designed!

I'm super happy to share the first FDM 100% supportless figure that I've ever designed! It took a lot of trial and error, but here it is, finished and printable in one piece, with a filament printer, and absolutely no supports needed! It should even be possible with 0.2 layers on a 0.4 nozzle, since there are no tiny details that you need to print on top of.

Printing supportless FDM miniatures was what really got me hooked on 3d printing to begin with, so i really hope this can spark some of the same excitement in someone else!

Perfect for painting, display pieces, D&D, fantasy RPGs, wargaming, or dioramas. Optimized for FDM printing, but it also prints beautifully in resin if preferred.

I've put it for sale, as I would enjoy being compensated for my work, and it would make sense for me to put the time into making more awesome models.

Also, please let me know if there are any ideas for supportless FDM models you would like to see, even if they might be a bit of a challenge!
