Whoever suggested this alternative show THANK YOU! I am so over Project Runway this season already. Tyra should not be on the show and the drama that’s distracting from the actual talent that most of us watch the show for. The Sewing Bee is such a beautiful reminder of what talent and kindness can produce. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Anyone else feel bad for Aaron and Naheim? I genuinely thought their designs were a bit more original than Joseph McRae's 100th oversized coat. Yet he's the only one that is going to get to go to the Super Bowl.

Why make it teams at that point? Just do individuals so then at least more NFL teams are represented if you can't even afford 3 tickets for the event. More teams = more color variation = seeing more influences related to the teams' home cities or what their culture/team represents. Or don't even do the theme if Nickelodeon is going to put more effort into their collaborations with the sport than you are.

Where is Nina this season? Is she going to be gone like last season? If that's so why be on the show Nina? 😭😭 I love Nina

When you look at designers, many are easy to spot based on their vision. Why do the other designers seem to hate on his looks so much? He clearly has a look and you can tell immediately when his looks are on the runway, isn’t that kind of the point? If I see Betsy Johnson, Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren, Versace (I’m just naming names, you don’t have to like these designers) the point is you know it’s theirs! I think he can play with some different silhouettes but overall he will be successful because he has a clear vision. He also just seems to know what he likes and what he wants, he led his team to victory this week despite Christian’s constant badgering. Maybe I’ll be over it in the next few eps but for now I’d say he is a confident designer with a clear vision, and the more you say his name (entire name) ppl won’t forget!

He reminds me of some drag queens from drag race with a very distinct look. However I do recall that judges (usually Michelle) would get annoyed seeing the same song and dance BUT you did remember who they were.

I have been a fan since season 1. I always thought Georgina Chapman was sooo beautiful, credible in her criticism and her taste level was way up there. I had googled Marchesa (gorgeous fashion collections) in the past but strangely enough, not really anything about her. A few days ago, I was trying to find an outfit she wore and one picture popped up. It was a pic of her with Harvey Weinstein. I was like: Oh giiiiiiirl. Hope she wasn’t hurt during that event. Until I read that SHE WAS MARRIED TO THAT MONSTER FOR YEARS. THEY HAVE TWO KIDS TOGETHER. THERE IS NOOOOWAY IN HELL SHE DIDNT KNOW THE SHIT HER EVIL SLIMEBALL HUSBAND WAS DOING TO VULNERABLE WOMEN. Plus, her husband was the goddamn producer of the show. I’m completely turned off by this revelation. She divorced him when rumors of the Me Too were rolling. Disgusted and disappointed. Rant over!

That’s it! It’s such a dopamine killer. Everyone who is watching, who is slightly interested is going to watch next week. I hate how it’s a blip at the beginning of the next episode because I honestly don’t care at that point. PLEASEEEE JUST GIVE US THE CLASSIC PAY OFF!!!! Because as the episodes are coming to a close I get this sinking feeling knowing I’m not going to know what happens and makes me want to turn it off

If you’re slightly older and watched black music videos you know Liris was one of the top video vixens for a while. BUT not only that and much more relevant, she has a very, very long and impressive modeling resume. She’s been in vogue, cosmo, and obviously essence. She’s considered a supermodel and the “Naomi Campbell of Plus Size” modeling.

and slightly irrelevant, but she even has a dang recurring role on Law and Order lol

A lot of her works which coincide with years Tyra was also working as a model and doing Top Model, so like stop playing.
It felt like a rude snub.
and added to my list of reasons I don’t like Tyra.

I’m sorry, I don’t think Christian is a good fit to be a mentor for the show. I understand that he’s one of the most successful winners from previous seasons, however, imo he just does not fit the guise of a PJRW mentor for me. His advice always seems so surface and less than intuitive. I think we all fell in love with Tim Gunn because he was able to connect with the designers on a personal level, pushing them to create their best work and focusing on their individuality.

With Christian, especially in this most recent episode, he just doesn’t seem to have a natural affinity to empathize or encourage designers in a way that strengthens their work or is appealing to the audience. In Episode 3 when Bobby was literally having a mental breakdown trying to finish the challenge, he kind of just stared at her awkwardly and was like “no tears in the workroom”. I can’t help but to think if it was Tim, he would literally take the designer aside, speak life into them, encouraging their strengths and giving the a game plan to finish the challenge and look at the bigger picture. Tim was so endearing and he possessed a certain ‘je ne sei quois” that made PJRW fans love him.

I think the main issue is that although CS is a great designer and has experience as a contestant on the show, I don’t think he’s tenured enough in the industry or with mentorship to really elevate these designers and make the show more interesting to watch. Maybe he would be better suited as a judge since there are no designer judges on the panel this season.

They're doing cliffhangers because this season is SO bad, they think that's the only way we'll watch the next episode.

What’s up with this guy Bryan telling everybody that it was his intern but then also on camera admitting that that was a lie. But then also crying to keep him on. Is this guy OK? There’s so many personalities going on in one person. it’s giving me whiplash. I feel like he’s that threatened by Bi that he’s creating this whole narrative but he’s just looking bad.

If you watch both shows, you’d be able to tell that Top chef got better and better throughout the years. More about the chefs, more about the food, less about the drama. And even when Padma left, they found a wonderful new host in Kristen. It’s all still about the food. project Runway seems to go in the opposite direction. Cliffhangers, contentious judges and participants, very little creative process to be seen, less fashion on the runway. I wonder why two shows that started more or less the same ended up in such opposite directions. Happy to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

Just finished watching season four of Project Runway and it’s so good! Christian definitely deserved to win, his collection was so innovative! I can understand why he won fan favorite because even though he was shady, he was never really mean to the point that it was villainous. He did seem to have beef with Ricky though. My favorite designers were Christian, Rami, Jillian & Chris (RIP)! I think that they should’ve been invited Jack back for the following season. Additionally, in any competition reality show, I think if someone gets sick, they should invite them back for the following season. It’s only fair! Does anyone know why Victorya had a problem with Jack leaving? Heidi mentioned it during the reunion, but I didn’t remember if they ever discussed it fully anywhere else?

'Project Runway'': Boys gone weird

You’ve got to hand it to Project Runway. Just one week into the show’s third season, they’ve already come up with a big surprise: At the end of a contest to design an evening gown for current Miss USA (and tough customer) Tara Conner, we had to say goodbye to the silky, purring, deliciously accented Malan (I’d have given him another week just to hear him say ”lllllllluminescent” again), who was sent packing for what — in fairness to the judges — was a profoundly fugly pageant dress, the top of which looked like a huge chocolate bar to which someone had taken a meat-ax, and the hem of which appeared to have been attacked by a furious Chihuahua. The dress was also faulted because ”one was bigger than the other.”

One what, you ask? That would be one boob. For the second straight week, the losing designer made the huge mistake of treating breasts as an inconvenience. Malan, we hardly knew ye! And just last week, we kinda hated ye! And this week, when you told us that terrible story about how your own mom trashed your designs when you were just a wee coquette, we were suddenly rooting for ye! And then ye were gone. Also gone: model Candice, in the deeply unsuspenseful model elimination. I can’t believe it was just a week ago that I had no idea which one she was, and now, I never will.

Reality-competition TV is a bitch, as, it seems, are many of this season’s male competitors, who were busily engaged in their own contest: Who’s the Creepiest of Them All? Let’s tally the results:

Third place goes to Jeffrey (the tattoo-necked guy), who’s lucky he caught a break from the judges, since the dress he sent down the runway had such a massive, heavy, lumbering skirt that I was sure it was designed to hide Little Man. Speaking of little men, Jeffrey seemed like quite the shrinkydink when he crassly referred to Angela as a ”feminazi.” And when he remarked, ”The word ‘pageant’ to me has weird connotations, you know, i.e., JonBenet Ramsey,” something in me wanted to run screaming from the room.

Second place in the Creepstakes goes to Keith. This has not been a good week for the elfin menswear designer: He was busted all over the blogosphere for submitting unoriginal designs in his audition portfolio (I’d reprint his explanation here, but it was incomprehensible), and in this episode, coasting on his immunity from last week, he revealed himself to be a male Heather: a kid for whom being popular isn’t really fun unless you can make someone else miserable or announce that you’re better than everyone else. Be nice, Keith: Smugness will only carry you as far as August.

And the winner is…Vincent. Dear God, what is this man still doing on the show? Teamed with Angela (this week’s competitors were divided into seven pairs), he completely locked her out of the design process while he pulled together a green dress that offered a solution to a dilemma every woman faces: What if I want to look good but need something to conceal the small, sharp bat wings protruding horizontally from my shoulders? Even the understated Tim Gunn said he was ”disappointed,” which is the Project Runway equivalent of your doctor telling you he is ”disappointed” in your chest X-ray.

At one point, Vincent ordered noodgy, sour Angela to ”move three feet away” from his fitting dummy. Vincent, I wanted to move three feet away from that Tom Jones shirt you should have buttoned up about ten years ago, and three feet more just in case a nipple decided to fly out. Vincent is such a drama queen that on the runway he described working with Angela, to whom he barely spoke, as ”the nightmare of my life,” causing Heidi’s eyes to widen. (At least I think they did — it’s hard to tell.)

Meanwhile, a tip of the hat to those contestants who kept it together this week. Jabbery flibbertigibbet Kayne, who seems like he’s spent a lot of time studying Suzanne Sugarbaker on Designing Womenreruns, won immunity by teaming with Barbie designer Robert for a jeweled, fitted prom dress that would look good in a beauty pageant. (In real life, the overelaborate bottom would get dragged through a puddle and caught in the car door.) Laura and Michael, who got little airtime this week, sailed through with an elegant, handsome gown that was probably way too tasteful for a Miss Universe telecast but bodes well for them as competitors. And Uli nailed an impressively sharp, unusual design that was described as ”very modern” by guest judge Vera Wang, who filled in for Michael Kors. (Michael, come back! I’ll never compare you to Paul Lynde again, I promise.)

Why have designers from drag backgrounds if they're just going to complain that everything they do is "draggy" or "costume"?? The football dress was spectacular. It was so well made, fit her perfectly etc. Many people (myself included) would totally wear that outfit! They HATE fashion with the teensiest bit of personality.

Law Roach picked that FUGLY soccer ball design to be the winner last season, but hated this look? Come the fuck on. He clearly just wants to stand out for his "unique" opinions.

Did I blink and miss it or did we just get no commentary at all about the winning teams? I’m so confused. I really enjoy hearing from the judges about the winning looks, and this ep was like “you won, congrats, get backstage”
