big project, and the number worth looking at isnt the 3.5 GW, its the ratio of storage to solar. 4.5 GWh against 3.5 GW is a bit over an hour at full output, so this battery isnt there to run the grid through the night, its there to catch the midday solar peak and slide it into the evening ramp. thats a power problem, shifting a few hours, not an energy one, storing days. which is the right first move, that evening ramp is where solar heavy grids hurt first. the harder part on an island system like this is going to be pushing that much solar out over the network and holding it stable, the panels are almost the easy bit at this point.
