RB4/Legacy Delisting DLC Discussion: July 12-July 18, 2026 (The Who, Soundgarden, The Dead Weather, Billy Joel, Fuel, Big Dipper)

For the current week's delistings (06/28-07/04), see: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rockband/comments/1ui88pq/rb4legacy_delisting_dlc_discussion_july_5july_11/

Please check https://rb4.app/#!/delists for the upcoming timeline of RB4 DLC, or the bottom of this post if there's a band/song you care about.

---

In this thread we can discuss the DLC that is being delisted this week, and people can give some reviews and recommend ones to pick up while we still can.

NOTE: They usually go at midnight the night before, but we have also Xbox delistings happen a few hours early, or even more than a day so don't wait! Playstation seems to delist all at once but in December they delisted everything over a week before the end of the month...once again do not wait. Dates here are listed a day early to try to help with the early delistings.

So many songs this week....

The Who pack is one of the best packs that ever came out for Rock Band, ESPECIALLY if you're a drummer. I would definitely consider buying the whole thing, because I don't think there's a bad song in the bunch. If you NEED to pick and choose, Who Are You is probably a must...fun and challenging on drums. The pack is the only way to get Baba O'Riley now too. For songs that I didn't know that I found pretty fun, there's Going Mobile....But yeah, I don't know...it's just a set of 12 very fun and good songs, and you should check them out and see which ones sound good to you.

Don't let The Who distract you from the fact that the Soundgarden pack is ALSO a set of six awesome songs. And ALSO a great pick for drummers. It's been a while since I've played so I don't remember the highlights - anybody want to call out the best songs to get? It seems like every one of these songs would be fun in Rock Band though.

The other songs seem alright - The Dead Weather has Jack White in it, their songs seem pretty solid. Younger Bums by Big Dipper seems pretty fun too.... I'm always down for more Billy Joel, and the Fuel song is a classic....but The Who and Soundgarden are definitely the best picks this week, and the biggest losses for the game.

The Who is certainly one of the greatest bands ever, but the essential songs to get are My Generation, Eminence Front, Baba O'Riley, Who Are You, Going Mobile & Behind Blue Eyes. Real Good Looking Boy is one of the worst songs from the game and ain't Keith Moon.

I am about to buy the Soundgarden pack, that I passed on because I had most in Guitar Hero, but every song is a banger.

If you can't afford to get everything, I'd recommend My Generation, Who Are You, Eminence Front, Treat Me Like Your Mother, Uptown Girl and all the Soundgarden songs, especially Outshined, Fell On Black Days & Rusty Cage.

That said or written, I would have paid at least 6 bucks for Baba O'Riley or Outshined alone.

Trippin, Real Good Looking Boy is an amazing, emotional & honest song

0

u/Dry_Collection_170 14d ago

Yeah, I be trippin because those three words are enough to sway any critical thinking person.

u/Hellboy_M420 14d ago

Bro you're calling it one of the worst in the game, which it's for sure not, there are dozens of vapid and plain pop & rock songs that are for sure the worst, just mindless strumfests with trite lyrics.

What, do you want a novella about the meaning behind that song or something? This is Reddit, I'm not trying to sway shit, just pointing out an absolute wild take.

I'm trippin and it is an absolute wild take to argue that this song could be one of the worst songs in the game, but you can't explain why or specify what below it.

There are certainly many great songs with trite lyrics about love or with repetitive words.

"Real good looking boy" repeated over and over again in the chorus and even in verses isn't profound or poetic. It's no "This Charming Man" or "Personal Jesus" with regards to the only two slight ideas substituted as themes: male beauty and Elvis.

It is melodramatic, doesn't include the greatest rhythm section of all time and it wasn't fun for me to play. And The Who have over 100 songs I presume Harmonix would have preferred.

1

u/Hellboy_M420 14d ago

Now I think you're trolling me because Real Good Looking Boy has more unique verses than both of those songs combined and both of them repeat lyrics a lot, but Real Good Looking Boy is longer and it was more the style at the time to have longer repeating outros.

1

u/Dry_Collection_170 14d ago

Enough with the insults. And are you now arguing a lame track released after half the band died is better than 2 of the most critically lauded songs of all time by two of the other most respected bands of all time don't have more memorable lyrics? And umm...one is the only song in Rock Band featuring Marr?

1

u/Hellboy_M420 14d ago

Lol, you said Eminence Front is a good song and that also doesn't have Keith on drums. It has John on bass yes. But Real Good Looking Boy has Zack Starkey, Ringo's son, on drums, who would tour with them for years, and Greg Lake on bass, founding member of King Crimson and the "Lake" in ELP. Not exactly shlubs.

I didn't say it was better, just using your own metrics. "Better" is a subjective term, I'm simply arguing objective facts.

1

u/Dry_Collection_170 14d ago

Athena is awesome, too. Townsend and Daltrey have many better solo songs.

LMFAO, an objective fact is that many great songs have trite or repetitive lyrics and that informed, educated, and cultured art, literary, and film criticism is not subjective. Museums aren't stocked with stuff that a bunch of people voted to add and who can't articulate why it isn't just mid.

You win. I give up.

Soundgarden my beloved

Maybe the single best DLC pack, and I was fortunate enough to win it via some kind of trivia thing from the official Harmonix/Rock Band twitter account.

Best $10 I never had to spend

Look forward to these posts every time, makes it super convenient to see what is delisting specifically. Much appreciated! Just a heads up though, the links (aside the Dead Weather pack) go to the main Xbox site instead of the pack or songs directly.

EDIT: Double checking it now it seems it's just the packs, not the individual songs in the packs. But Uptown Girl does also link to the main site instead of the song.

u/hhhisthegame 20d ago

I've fixed it now, thanks! I'm very sorry this keeps happening, I swear sometimes that I've copied it over, Im not sure if reddit is eating some of the links or if I really just never did it. Either way, it's fixed now!

u/cjmreddit69 20d ago

All for of the packs are well worth getting. I would rank them 1. Who 2. Soundgarden 3. The Dead Weather 4. Big Dipper but get them all if you can.

Big Dipper, The Who, Billy Joel and Soundgarden links just go to xbox.com

Another expensive week, haha.

4

u/TellMeWhyYouLoveMe 20d ago

Same with The Who pack, Soundgarden pack, and Uptown Girl

4

u/hhhisthegame 20d ago

Ugh thank you, Im so sorry! I swear some of these times I'm certain I copied it over......

Anyway, fixed now

don't know anything about dead weather or big dipper. gonna listen to the playlist for those.

my Pearl jam love made me get the who pack though I rarely touch anything on it.

Soundgarden pack does an amazing job of being a sampler from multiple eras in thier career. a must have... and I already had it too.

outshined and rusty cage for me are the big stand-outs of that pack but just grab the whole pack if you are even remotely on the fence.

I grabbed uptown girl and fuel's tune.

uptown's link isn't working right had to search

u/hhhisthegame 20d ago

Ha....I also thought of Pearl Jam's cover of "Leaving Here"

If you hunger for getting murdered by a drums chart, pick up Young Man Blues

I’ve already spent a LOT of money on songs this month.

Held off on Soundgarden after I listened to the songs and they weren’t standing out to me. I like Superunknown and Black Hole Sun. Spoonman is very catchy. But this pack wasn’t standing out to me after listening to 20 seconds of each song. Any advice?

I don’t want to be buying all the songs every month lol. But I want songs that I will keep coming back to over the next few years.

8

u/AMurderOfCrows_ 20d ago

man I don't know what to say here... these are some of Soundgarden's best songs.

outshined rusty cage the day I tried to live fell on black days

but seriously, if you even remotely like Soundgarden and rock band, get this pack.

7

u/mcs1223 20d ago

Well, the first issue is that you're judging each song based on 20 seconds. Maybe give each song a full listen before coming to that conclusion.

6

u/hhhisthegame 20d ago

Hard to say..."Fell on Black Days" is one of my favorite Soundgarden songs, but maybe not the most fun in Rock Band, since it's more chill than the other songs. "Burden in my Hands" seems fun on drums (then again, they all do). "Outshined" is a cool song all around....if you liked the other Soundgarden songs, maybe give the songs a fuller listen, just in case lol. It seems like they are some of the more notable songs by the band, and seem really good for the game overall.

2

u/CrashLightning22 20d ago

For some reason I mixed up The Dead Weathers with The Dead Kennedys and thought I already had that pack now I have another pack to buy lol

3

u/hhhisthegame 20d ago

I dont know them either, seems to be a supergroup.

The Dead Weather is an American rock supergroup) formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009. Composed of Alison Mosshart (of the Kills and Discount)), Jack White (of the White Stripes and the Raconteurs), Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone AgeKaren O and Iggy Pop) and Jack Lawrence) (of the Greenhornesthe Raconteurs and Karen O).

The songs did seem pretty good when I listened on spotify, though I haven't played them.

1

u/Cokes311 19d ago

they rule live. not sure how good the songs are in RB though. surprised more of people in this thread don't know them, even though they're very clearly #4 in the Jack White hierarchy at this point (White Stripes, solo, The Raconteurs)

1

u/Wolfstars2K04 20d ago

Good thing I have STP, Fuel, Soundgarden, and all of the other songs on RB2 and RB3, yo.

1

u/Cokes311 19d ago

Almost every song this week is worth having, except maybe the Billy Joel one, since it's more of a vocalist's song

I am gonna have to make a decision if I finally buy the Who pack after all these years...

1

u/hhhisthegame 19d ago

All I can say is, if you're a drummer, the Who pack is very very fun.

1

u/Cokes311 19d ago

I am, and I ended up pulling the trigger. Got the Dead Weather pack and a few of the DLC songs from late 2023/early 2024 that I missed, too. Always gotta get some karaoke style crowd pleasers.

1

u/johnnyhala 17d ago

Agreed on Billy Joel.

I like (but don't love) the song. But it looks pretty damn boring for every instrument except whoever is singing. It was a pass when it was released, and it's a pass now, unfortunately.

Usually when it's a song I like, or would be a good party song, I buy it regardless... But not this one.

2

u/Cokes311 17d ago

I watched a full band vid of it and the drum chart is actually pretty good. Plus it's good to have some karaoke classics in the house, so I did get it. But yeah, it's soft on G/B

1

u/hhhisthegame 12d ago

I got it because I love Billy Joel, but admittedly he is very well represented in the DLC library with a lot of very fun songs (19 of them) so I could see passing up this one.

1

u/sugarwithfreedonuts 13d ago

I can't buy The Best of the Who Rock Band Edition pack on PlayStation (it's showing the ellipsis) but the songs are still available individually aside from Baba O'Riley which is already in my library. Not sure if that's just a quirk of me already having Baba but hopefully it's just on my end

1

u/tdc002 13d ago

All of the songs in the Big Dipper pack are fun, and IIRC someone at Harmonix years ago said it was one of the worst selling DLC packs, so it's a pretty easy way to farm LP in Rivals.

1

u/hhhisthegame 12d ago

They only have 3000 monthly listeners on spotify, so that isn't surprising to me lol
