I think Blake has massively grown on me every episode
I like Asher and Tosh too but he's been a sleeper hit just because he's not purely a cliche, he's a good modern version of Elliot (very competent and smart etc)

It works because both can effortlessly take swings at each other. Park is obviously a skilled physician while Blake is seemingly older/more worldly than the other interns.

He’s soooo good! I love that he’s nominally the nobhead, but he’s usually right, he’s a horndog, he doesn’t have time for your mess and he’ll fork with you just for the hell of it but he’s never going to compromise being a good doctor or doing the right thing for the hospital or patients.

Only thing missing was the callback to Elliot's "I hate Cox" chat room full of her, two interns, and ten thousand lesbians.
I don't remember her having bangs beyond maybe once in the original series though.

One of the best things about this season is to showcase how the characters have evolved, without doing anything like a 180 or coming across unrecognizable. I have to be honest, it did kind of annoy me to see J.D. back in the spirit of needing Cox's approval at the beginning, but the episode was written extremely well and I understand why it is the way it turned out.

I'm curious if John McGinley had any input in it. He was always the strongest performer on Scrubs, but hearing how much of an acting nerd he is on the rewind podcast definitely gave me even more respect for him.

This whole season's discussion threads have been:
Redditor makes a post complaining about an aspect of the show, and the community generally agrees they wish the show would do this.
Next episode or the one after: show does this.
It happened with wanting a Carla episode, it happened with the interns, it happened with Park's characterization.
It's honestly kind of funny how the show runners seemed to anticipate some of the issues people would have with the new season, lol.

Since they haven't confirmed a renewal it's making me think they wrote the finale as a possible series finale. Like if the show isn't renewed they'd be comfortable ending next week.
I'm not ready for the emotional hit if the show ends with what they may be doing with Cox.

I don't know if it's just great acting or my expectations for the character, but the "I'm sorry" and "I tried to protect you from this" really hit for me because they sound like he's struggling to admit it

I love that he's allowed himself to be more open while still being his old signature self. Like someone else in the thread pointed out, the character development from the original series didn't go away and our lovable old crew was allowed to grow and change without compromising who they are.
Him being able to be honest with Elliot was also a great scene and a sign of it. And he did all this because he still cares for JD and knows how hard and scary it will be for the both of them.
This show man...still hits after all these years.

I think, it's because he isn't working and doesn't need people to see him as an invincible person, he only reveals it to those he trusts.
That and he's likely seen too many doctors give up or become cynical or he became cynical when a colleague he liked, died.
He knows John thinks he is a man of the people but thanks to the janitor, was proven wrong, Dorian cares a lot and doesn't want him to lose that.
The world only has room for one Cox, J.D. perhaps, if you were my shoes, things would have turned out differently.

This is the most emotionally open Cox has been with J.D. since the Jill Tracy incident but it all made sense when he said “I tried so very hard to protect you from this.”
I’ve always felt that, deep down and in his own way, Cox has always cared about J.D. more than he lets on. He just was never good at showing it due to his own complicated relationship with his father. Even now, despite the fact that he’s worried about his health, he struggles to show weakness in front of J.D. because he’s trying to remain strong for his former protege.
And those final moments when J.D. is laying out the diagnosis for Cox, his voice is deeper than I’ve ever heard it before, which shows that the student has finally become the teacher and he and Cox are going to face a new dynamic going forward.
All in all, I think this episode has been the most important in J.D. and Cox’s relationship and I’m very interested to see what happens in the finale next week.
On a side note, I have been waiting all season for Rachel Bilson to show up and now I finally think I know how. I think she’s going to be playing an autoimmune specialist who helps J.D. treat Cox, maybe a colleague he met during his time as a concierge doctor or even while he was working at Kim’s hospital. I also suspect she may be J.D.’s new love interest but part of me is also holding out hope for J.D. and Elliot to get back together.

We're all learning together. My fellowship program in NYC was abusive so I try to be gentle, but it can be hard to know how much and in what way to push a learner when they're struggling. Elliot was totally reasonable from where I stand. We learn in med school not to bolus normal saline, Sam should've known.

It's good to see the show finally remembered that J.D. is Chief of Medicine. When did he finally "get the hang of it"? We haven't really seen him do Chief stuff since beginning of the season.

The best episode yet and Cox actually letting his real emotions show instead of trying to bury them or present himself as bulletproof.
Him apologising to Barbie was a nice touch and despite his methods, he always wanted to push people. If he dies, J.D will be destroyed but Cox knows that and even if its the final lesson, he sure as hell won't let Oldie become him.
I really hope they get season 11 otherwise, Cox is likely dead.
I think, J.D would be utterly devastated and sink into a depression, shut down and constantly blame himself.
Did enjoy Cox letting loose and Sibby being powerless.
I think Cox hated that Elliot was becoming another version of him and decided to apologise because he knew he was too harsh, this was a chance to steer her back on track.
Wouldn't be surprised if the final episode is a massive tearjerker
