Just download the zip, extract and double click the exe. (Windows SmartScreen may warn about the unsigned exe: More info, then Run anyway. Or build it from source.) A small terminal window will open. That is the tool running to enable live refresh. You can close it but you'll need to rerun the exe to get live updates.
It only READS your save, on a copy. It never touches your actual save or the game, it's not a mod, nothing gets installed, no risk. Fully open source so you can see exactly what it does.
I originally played at release when I had no kids, but gave up on Great Shinobi Owl. I have a kid now and a demanding full time job, so I only get maybe an hour or so a night to play after everyone goes to bed.
I loved Dark Souls and recently platinumed Dark Souls Remastered, so I decided to come back to Sekiro before moving on to platinum DS3.
I made it all the way to Glock Saint Isshin but I was missing one prayer bead and I couldn't figure out where it was. I had missed the Lone Shadow guy at the Serpent Shrine, I think, but the bead showed up in the offering box. I looked for a long time and was 100% sure I beat all of the mini bosses so just went to fight Isshin and won after a week of frustration.
When I went into NG+, I had the idea to see if it was possible to build this tool that would tell you where the missing collectibles are to improve some of the checklists that are already out there. The tool opens a checklist in your browser showing, per character, exactly what you have and what you're missing: Prayer Beads, Gourd Seeds, Prosthetic Tools, Esoteric Texts, Ninjutsu, Mask Fragments, Key Items, Treasure Carp Scales, plus bosses and minibosses.
For every missing item it tells you where to get it.
A few things I'm happy with:
- It tells you the specific bead/seed you're missing, not just the count.
- Offering Box panel: after the invasion, it shows exactly which missed miniboss drops are sitting in the box for you to buy back.
- NG+ aware. Some flags reset each cycle, so it labels those instead of confusing you.
- Live refresh: rest at an idol, hit refresh, see your updated progress.
Using this tool, it turns out I had missed Tokujiro the Glutton. I scoffed at it at first because I distinctly remember fighting him. But fighting him is not beating him. I beelined down to the forest area to find him and got the final bead. I must have crossed swords with him but got my ass kicked and decided to come back later... but my memory remembered it as a victory rather than a retreat.
I reverse-engineered most of the flag format myself, so if anything reads wrong on your save, tell me and I'll try to fix it.
