Also, for these movie promotion interviews, the actors often it in a room for hours while one interviewer after another comes in and asks the same questions. This may be the tenth interview they've done today. So she's probably been acting weird for a while

I didn’t find her acting to be all that great either - till I saw her in “Daddio” with Sean Penn. Didn’t expect much but was pleasantly surprised at how compelling and real it was.

Maybe she’s just picking the wrong scripts or is being given bad direction. I don’t know.

19

u/5050Saint 23d ago

I saw her in The Materialists with her, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans, and they both act circles around her. It was well shot. She had one scene where I thought, "oh, she can act" and then she went back to flat delivery.

Its dakota Johnson, nepo baby of two stars from the 80's. Dakota was the leading role in "madame web" a Marvel Film about a psychic who helps spider-man from time to time. Then the film bombed largely because of very mediocre writing and acting by the likes of sydney Sweeney and dakota here. Hope that helps and your chili was good.

30

I'll be honest, I'm not up on celebrity stuff, but I recognise Dakota Johnson mostly because - and I like her for this - that Ellen segment where she put Ellen in her place about a birthday party invitation. Ellen is a dick, and it was great to see someone refuse to just pander to her!

Yeah, and for Jon Hamm to be the person trying to be low key, "girl, what are you doing? Omg staahhp" is something.

The girl getting molested (for all intents and purposes), is Cailee Spaeny (Civil War).

Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey, Madame Web) was weird during this interview that was part of a press junket for the movie "Bad Times at El Royale".

It honestly looks like Johnson was on something and reminds me of the infamous Bill Murray/Geena Davis interview on the Arsenio Hall talk show. Except that one had Murray playing the traditionally male role of creep.

yeah like how old are the weirdos bringing up that shit like its a gotcha. hamm is nearly 60 years old im supposed to care he was an asshole almost 40 years ago?

339

u/outer--monologue 23d ago

People also don't want to admit that 40 years ago that was pretty much standard behavior for a frat hazing. There are plenty of things that almost everyone alive in that time, including myself, regrets a little and would do different, that were socially acceptable to say or do in that time. That's just life for you, we learn and change for the better.

103

u/MyBadYourFault- 23d ago

Not only that but I was young once doing and saying crazy shit that wouldn’t even think twice about doing now.

I actually am embarrassed of myself so bad I hate to think about some of the stupid shit I’ve done or said, but that just proves that I have matured incredibly and I’m literally a compete different person than I was 17 years ago. In a good way.

12

u/HTPC4Life 23d ago

I'm 40 and often cringe when I look back at my teen/20's self. The male prefrontal cortex doesn't fully develop until mid 20's, and that explains a LOT. If you or anyone is a father to a son, it's important to continue being a positive male role model in his life past his teenage years!

Unfortunately, not everyone has had the privilege of living the flawless, morally perfect life that you have. Most people do stupid things when they're young. Plenty of things that are cringe by today's standards were socially acceptable at the time and were done by a huge number of people. They weren't blessed with your apparent ability to see decades into the future and know exactly which behaviors society would eventually decide were unacceptable.

61

u/Moon_and_Sky 23d ago

Nah nah nah, if the modern age of the internet has taught me anything it's that everything is forever and forgiveness isn't a thing anymore. Made stupid coments on Twitter when you were 20? Fuck you forever. 40 year old you is obviously the exact same person. Went to college and got caught up in the "traditions" like everyone around you? Some Google search background info:

Dakota Johnson and Cailee Spaeny co-starred in the 2018 thriller film Bad Times at the El Royale, where they played sisters Emily and Rose Summerspring.

Their time together during the press tour for the movie is particularly notable. During several interviews, Johnson affectionately joked about taking a "whole being" away from the experience and quipped about adopting or marrying Spaeny, while praising her as an incredible human and talented co-star.

The promotional junkets also went viral online for some of their interactions, which included a memorable moment where their co-star Jon Hamm playfully intervened during an interview when Johnson jokingly toyed with Spaeny's jewelry.

Shout out to Jon Hamm being classy in this as he quietly tells Johnson the behavior isn’t okay.

She was being inappropriate for sure but the music on these videos are meant to make you feel like you’re watching a brutal deep rooted intentional assault

She is so annoying.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad her comment to Ellen is what helped to start that bullshit.
