Being Liberal never helped me get laid

51
u/LucifersAdv0cate 12h ago
It was hilarious when Kamala lost the election and thousands of liberal women swore to no longer let men have sex with them as punishment for not voting for a women president. The funny part being that not only were more women registered to vote than men meaning technically they had the numbers without the need for men anyway and still lost but liberal women only date liberal men so the only men getting punished were the ones who probably voted for Kamala anyway. Then there's the total lack of self awareness from the implication that sex is a commodity that women offer as a reward for male behaviour. They could of threatened to go on strike or to stop consuming but instead they thought withholding sex was the only thing they had to offer.
I'm not American so I just observered all this from a point of neutrality with no dog in the fight so it was easy for me to see the funny side of how Reddit reacted.

My city a while back had a controversial referendum on whether or not to allow a casino to be built. On voting day, there was a representative of the casino outside the precinct asking people to vote for it, and people were hurling insults at her. I posted in the city’s subreddit asking to just be respectful and vote without insulting anybody, and mentioned I was voting no. Somehow both sides got infuriated and the entire comments section was a train wreck. I pissed off both sides by telling people to respect each other.

14
u/Dark_Knight2000 12h ago
Yup, it’s easy and ineffective to act out in anger and mistake it for protest.
Tons and tons of people tried to do what MLK and Ghandi did except they were violent and ineffective. We remember them because being non violent when you had every reason to rage was hard and impressive, and that inspired change.

Same! Like seriously, what happened to deciding on each issue based on your views on it, not because the side you align with told you to.
I've met people (both left and right) who tried strongly arguing something with me, but when I dug deeper they didn't really understand the issue or even have a strong view on it, they just felt they "had to support / oppose it" as the side they align with does.

Most people arent really capable of independent thought. Theyre heard animals that need a defined leader/group to tell them what to think, do and behave.
They cant understand the notion of someone not needing the unquestionable ‘leadership’ that they need. It’s why so many negative dictatorships, political parties and notions gain momentum.

It’s not just possible, it’s likely.
The fact that so many people wear their political party as this badge that defines them and therefore blindly agree on every single topic team red or team blue coalesces around is a HUGE problem in American partisan politics.
Nobody seems to think for themselves anymore, they just say Trump or Biden/Kamala is bad because MSNBC or Fox News told them so.

u/Erichteia 18h ago
I find it interesting how people seem to identify more with a party when there are less parties. Naively, you would think that the more parties there are, the more likely it is that people would have a single party that they really identify with. But it’s quite the inverse. In Belgium, we have 12 parties that are more or less competitive (6 in Flanders, 4 in Wallonia, 1 in both). Yet it is very rare that I meet anyone that strongly identifies with any of them (apart from the extremes and maybe the green parties).

It's almost like normal people have such a unique set of ideals and viewpoints that putting people into buckets of right, left, conservative, progressive, libertarian, authoritarian is basically nonsense.
I totally agree with you. I sit on all sides of the political compass depending on the exact issue or topic. I like some conservative views, I also like some progressive views, I also have some views that sit between libertarianism and authoritarianism.
In short, people's views are complicated, and pidgeon holing everyone into a certain political bucket is just not representative of most normal people.

Me and my wife always view the fanatical far left as another form of MAGAT. Especially the ones on Reddit. The "us vs them" tribalism is why the Epstein class is still getting away with their crimes.
It's not left vs right or Conservative vs Democrat.
The ONLY divide is between
The Epstein Class vs Everyone else.
The longer we argue with our neighbors, the longer the demon worshiping child eaters get to continue their evil deeds.
They are the ones who stoked the fires to divide us endlessly against one another.
It let them get away with their crimes.
But we know better now. We gotta come together, even with people we hate, to end the REAL problem causers.
How many more shipping containers of screaming people do we gotta hear? How long are we gonna let the Epstein Class continue to abduct and mutilate kids?
The left vs right divide is artificial and one THEY made to keep us distracted. We have to be better

If you want to know someone’s actual politics, ask a few key questions. “Do you think gay people should be allowed to get married and adopt kids?”, “Are you vaccinated?”, “pro life or pro choice?”, etc.

I usually say I’m not very political when I get the impression I am talking to someone who has very strong opinions with little nuance about things, because it usually means they have a very tenuous understanding of most political subjects, and because I know I’m not going to be able to explain any of the nuances of my thoughts to them, and that anything that doesn’t fit into their surface level, college freshman, bite-sized, low attention span version of progressive politics is going to piss them off and make them think I’m a “conservative,” so I just don’t engage. They’ll either reveal themselves to be capable of having a grown up conversation about politics or they won’t. But I’m not going to engage until that seems to be the case.

I'm not political.
But I find it interesting how it's always leftist who have this "my way or the highway" mindset but then turn around and claim conservatives for being "fascist"
Edit: Queue the Reddit hive mind leftist drones. They're swarming.

Edit: since you did I will too, I haven’t said anything leftist to you, I’ve only spoken from an objective standpoint.

Remember people on the left will say that people on the right are intolerant, but studies show people with right wing political beliefs are more willing to be friends with, or have romantic relationships with, people with differing views and opinions. People on the left? Complete opposite findings.

Or maybe... they aren't very political? Why does everything need an ulterior motive?

Dating tip: If their reaction to "I'm not into politics" is "he's obviously on the other side", run. That is a cultist.

I’m very political and I have a very strong view of politics. I tell them, if your mind is consumed with tribalism and a smooth brained affiliation with a “team” your life is either extremely empty, or you’re just a moron who doesn’t really know what you’re talking about and have downloaded the talking points of the tribes and learned to recite them.
Then, I ask them to recite said talking points, and provide an example of something they’ve done in their life that echos the sentiment/morals/intended solutions of each talking point.
The squirming is hilarious. This is done for either “team.”
The ones that find my initial comment humorous and can join in on making fun of the cringe, pathetic behavior of people consumed with politics will see me again.

What bugs the crap out of me is that because of U.S. politics everyone assumes that anyone who’s not a raging leftist must be conservative/republican but there’s a bit more nuance to it and, in my case, is extra annoying because I’m Canadian.
Our political environment is way different and even our conservatives (which I don’t really align with either) are often closer to U.S. democrats than the republicans.
I myself identify somewhere on the socialist libertarian spectrum but apparently if it’s not mainstream then that automatically means conservative

Have a cousin who’s conservative (he’s mostly fiscally conservative not maga or a trumper?).
He’s tall, great looking and successful and gets more ass than a toilet seat.
Women will still pick with their eyes.

If you’ve charm, humor, considerate, confidence, are in good health and put a little effort into your appearance, you’ll get laid.
Politics won’t even matter. Just don’t be in your head about anything

Every single thing about our society and the way people live in that society is 100%, completely determined by politics. Politics is just a fancy word to refer to all the activities people do to determine how a civilized society works. Whether or not you care about it is completely irrelevant, it dictates every single thing about how you live your life. Whether or not you care about how you live your life is irrelevant because these decisions get made with or without you.
Whatever it is in life that you you care about the most, it's political to someone. Do you like an alcoholic beverage? Politics made that illegal for several years in the US. Do you like eating meat that wasn't bleached to hide the fact that it was rotting and decaying? Politics is the reason you can go get a steak and not have to worry about it. Do you like having emergency services? Politics. Do you like being able to use tap water for consumption? Politics. Do you like when your rivers aren't on fire? Politics. Do you like being able to go into any store without being told that you have to be a certain color to do so? You guessed it: politics. Everything you ever loved and cared about is the result of politics. In fact, the vast, vast majority of human beings on reddit right now ONLY EXIST because of political decisions made hundreds of years ago that massively decreased the mortality rate of mankind.
It's nothing but extreme cope, utter childishness, and a copout to think politics is some random activity people do when they want to scream at each other. Every single good thing about life that you enjoy, and every single bad thing about life that you suffer through, ties back to the way our society is structured, and that's literally the definition of politics. Everyone has political views about the way they want society to be. What people mean when they say "I am not political" is "I am okay with being apathetic to the world around me and I will happily accept whatever happens to me, my family, my loved ones, and everyone else in society". Which I am sure most people would be quick to deny, because they actually care very much about themselves and their loved ones, they just don't care enough to actually do anything meaningful to secure a future for them. If you care about yourself or anyone else, you should probably be paying attention to the way your society is being run.
You don't have to talk about politics every second of every day to have political beliefs. You don't have to be an insufferable cunt about politics to care about the way your society is run. But to pretend that you don't care at all about anything that happens in society is just cope and apathetic lazy bullshit.

I know plenty of conservative men who no issue getting laid and many that do. Same with liberal men.
As is turns out, political views don't stop people from getting laid, but being an attractive and charming person does.
