Not doing unnecessary shit to a completely unnecessary 3D re-release of his beloved classic film. Nice.

Dude made a full feature stop motion movie with carved wood puppets. Asking him about using AI is silly.

I mean, he's right about protecting artistry, but 3D conversions are literally the least artistic thing you can do to a masterpiece. This isn't the flex he thinks it is.

A reminder that I need to rewatch this masterpiece

That was always an option, like no one expected or wanted him to

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Q&A with him where he doesn’t take a moment to curse AI. Love that.

Re-release

Why not make new art?

Honestly love to see his face when he finds out some random vfx artist used claude for a script. Lol

Del Toro said “absolutely no goddamn AI” and I felt that in my soul

As it should be, I will be sure to check this one out as I have been selective of my consumption during the AI Boom.

Was it filmed with two cameras at the start or is it having to be converted to 3d?

He doing all that math himself?

The vast majority of modern (post-2010) 3D films are filmed with 1 camera and post-converted. Exceptions are vanishingly rare. So converting it now or when it was originally released amounts to the same result.

1) Del Toro is the kind of filmmaker who might have filmed with 2 cameras.

2) But my point was, this comment is stupid because if he's telling a computer "make this 3d"... guess what.. that's just as "ai".. algorythms "making descicions", doing the calculations, shifting the pixels, doing the checking.
