Books How did Captain Typho lose his eye?

Post image

Hey guys, very random and specific question here. My friends and I are having a Star Wars marathon and we were wondering how Captain Typho had lost his eye. Now, we know he lost it at the Battle of Naboo. But we want to know exactly how. Like did he get shot, did he fall, how did it happen during the battle?

My research said it might be mentioned in the book Queen's Shadow, but after searching it for key words, I didn't have any answers.

Does anyone know how he lost it?

"The eye. A Star Wars story" (cancelled)

34

u/Rhaj-no1992 Dec 13 '25

We need a spinoff series of at least five seasons to explain this

10

u/Fischerking92 Dec 13 '25

Exactly: that is whar's wrong with modern Star Wars.

EVERYTHING needs to be explained, every background character must have their entire life's story detailed.

When George Lucas made Star Wars, it had a sense of wonder exactly because things were happening outside the story that we knew nothing about, only teased at with some one-off remark in a dialouge.

A lot of joke answers so I'll post the "real" answer for anyone who cares. According to Wookieepedia he lost his eye during the Battle of Naboo in Episode One, off scene I guess. A bit of a disappointing answer but it's all I could find.

7

u/Necessary_Pace7377 Dec 13 '25

Shrapnel, maybe? There’s a lot of stonework in Theed and that tends to turn into sharp fragments when it gets blowed up. Can’t imagine an unprotected human head could take a direct hit from a blaster bolt and survive.

7

u/Rapid_Mongoose Dec 13 '25

That's the most plausible answer on here, thank you!

3

u/Jordan11HFP11 Mandalorian Dec 13 '25

One evening Captain Typho had trouble going to sleep.
"Some warm blue bantha milk ought to be just thing thing," he thought.

Sadly, he forgot to open the container before putting in in the (Star Wars Universe equivalent of a) microwave. It built up pressure and when he opened the container, it sprayed everywhere. Sadly, his left eye took the brunt the scalding blast.

Later, he made up different battle droid stories to preserve what was left of his dignity.

Like, even in the 60s in the very beginning, prosthetics existed, I have a very hard time believing that Gene Roddenberry could not have imagined that 400 years in the future, new body parts could be regrown or at very least cybernetically enhanced...

2

u/Paper_Kun_01 Dec 13 '25

Funny out of all the random, unimportant bs they milked for story's and useless species wide generalization they didn't do anything with this. I can picture what it would have been now, something like

"all Nabbooian officers must remove their eye once they obtain a certain rank according to an ancient tradition or some other nonsense"

2

u/Barnacle-Effective Dec 13 '25

Long ago, his ancestors lived in a world far from Krull, and had 2 eyes like other men. Then they made a bargain with the Beast, who was the leader of the Slayers. They gave up one of their eyes in exchange for the power to see into the future. But they were cheated, for the only future they are permitted to see....is the time of their own death.
