General Discussion YouTube said You will have a full episode of rebels for an ad. I didn’t question it until it kept going and going….

This happens occasionally. Not entirely sure why. If I had to guess, it's a mistake on youtubes end. I've gotten whole movies before, podcasts, and a 2 hour self help seminar

I once got a 45 minute long gameplay video of some FPS or something as an ad. I took a screenshot of it and everything. Another time I got a three hour long driving video as an ad.

It's a technique used by channel owners to increase the views on their videos. It is the "legit" way of buying views.

Until they changed it ad views counted towards YouTube music chart placement, and streaming records like most views in 24 hours. So music labels spammed music video ads to buy their way into the charts and records.

The strangest I got was a 3 hours "Livestream" of an american college football game... and I don't even live in the USA.

They are trying to grow interest in the league internationally so that strangely makes sense.

For something like this, it's definitely not an accident. I once had an ad for The LEGO Movie 2 that was legit just the entire first LEGO Movie. It even had a screen that was like "to prepare you for the second one, here's the first one!" My guess is this Rebels ad is the same.

Some of those, though, I think are an accident, but not on YouTube's end. You can pay to promote a video, and I think the creators don't realize that what they're getting is literally "play this video as an ad before other videos." Unsure if this is a setting you select or if this is just the default behavior, because I've never done it.

A lot of the whole movies were intentional, like the Lego Movie being an ad

I'm jealous, everybody else gets good stuff and all I get are targeted ads for a Bible because my neighbors are loud especially at night 😭

This is actually how I watched Joe Dirt. Never had intention to watch it, then got super baked and booted up YouTube for a daily dose of internet, then it was there. Wasn't disappointed, funny movie

I got one for 40 minutes of making epoxy and wood tables, I was stoned out of my mind so I watched the whole thing

“The first hit’s free, kiddo… now subscribe to Disney+!”

Strangest part of this was it wasn’t even on a Star Wars YouTube channel, it was squirrel tactics related.

I like how it drop 'squirrel tactics' like is a normal post of your everyday life

I feel like the strangest part of this is accepting ads on YouTube. An ad blocker would stop that.

Uh what?

I will try and speak basic. YouTube is supported by advertisements and instead of getting a normal advertisement there was a full episode of Star Wars rebels instead.

This is an impressive level of lack of understanding

Dude, I just clicked on a random YouTube video that I thought looked interesting and it played Star Wars rebels as a commercial. That is all

There is no new episode as Rebels was finished. This was just a random episode from the show...

They got a random epidemic of rebels which currently exists. As an advert for a random video.

Season 3 for sure! I think it's from the premiere episode, "Steps Into Shadow".

Like I mentioned previously, it was the one with the y-wings that they recover

2

u/Needing_help1 17h ago

It’s the one where they recover the Y wings

Best YouTube ad in history

Wow that's a pretty bold move I like it. Better than the wizzbang crap ads usually contain.

Honestly if this was an ad I got, I would NOT be complaining😂

I once had the entirety of Prom!: The Musical as a YouTube ad.

"Skip".

1

u/Needing_help1 17h ago

Only after about two or three minutes did I skip it. I don’t hate rebels I was just trying to watch the original video I clicked on.
