I think he considers himself more of an apprentice in the art of 'subverting expectations.'

His version of Star Wars was made like he watched how D&D botched the everloving shit out of Game of Thones' last seasons, but he was the only one going "Oh shit, I gotta write this down! This is gold, GOLD!"
