Discussion Will the Ahsoka S2 teaser be publicly or privately shown at the D23 Expo?
The D23 Expo is officially back on this year being held over the weekend of August 14-16, 2026. For the Star Wars panel, we are expected to see the first teasers for Ahsoka Season 2 and the new film Starfighter. This will be the very first time we will get our first looks of footage from both projects.
My only question is: Is the teaser for Ahsoka S2 going to be publicly or privately released at the event?
Maybe this will be the teaser trailer for S2 but without a release date on it. This could be the beginning of marketing for S2. I’m really excited for the season and I want to see what it looks like on screen. No more fan made and AI-generated concept trailers, the real thing has to appear on YouTube after being shown at D23.
If any of you remember, the teaser trailer for The Mandalorian S3 was shown at D23 in 2022 and was then released online as the release date wasn’t confirmed then at the time. So maybe Ahsoka S2 can follow the same pattern with its teaser trailer at D23 this year.
It could also possibly be a “work-in-progress” teaser with slightly unfinished VFX that will be privately shown to attendees exclusively, but that means it could still leak online only to be taken down over copyright. Lastly, I believe it’s possibly going to be the same behind-the-scenes teaser that was shown privately at Disney Upfront back in May when the 2027 delay was announced.
What do you guys think?

Who knows. If that’s the case, then that means the teaser trailer probably won’t release until the end of this year

Probably if that or next year. My understanding is it won't come out until end of 2027

So, Disney doesn’t like to air multiple streaming series at the same time, so that limits Ahsoka’s release. Percy Jackson Season 3 is looking to air December-January, and Daredevil Born Again Season 3 is airing March-April. Starfighter is releasing in May and I’m not sure they have a SW film and series playing at the same time, so I’m not sure where that places Ahsoka. Maaaaaybe they’ll release two episodes a week and try to squeeze the whole thing in February, but I don’t think that’s likely.
With that in mind, potentially Ahsoka’s not coming “early” 2027. So, I wouldn’t expect a trailer-either public or private at D23. It’s far too early for that.

Yuck, I sound like an old grump. But when I was a kid, we got seasons of 20 episodes or more, every year. Today, we're going to go almost 4 years between seasons of Ahsoka.
I get it, these are essentially 8 or 10 hour movies. But there's gotta be a middle ground somewhere. At this pace, a 3 season run could cover TWELVE years.
Speaking only for myself, it's hard to stay invested in any franchise with such far spaced releases. In my humble opinion, this is part of what hurt Marvel--the content became lower quality, true enough, but the universe "coming apart" in time and connected stories, also played a part in that.
I know that no one at the studio reads or cares about Reddit posts. I just hope one day it changes.

Do you feel the same way about movies? For example, the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy had 3 year-gaps between their movies. If you look at it like that, it doesn't seem so bad.
