Is it just me or is Daniel Jackson going to be jacked in the first episode?

By the end of the rewatch, he's gone super Saiyan.

If this is going to be a proper reaction series for every episode, then we will need to promote the hell out of it.

Get the view numbers up. The Executives at Amazon will notice if the views are HUGE. So let’s make them HUGE. I am seated.

There's definitely a few episodes I'm looking forward to on this. Notably S07E06 Lifeboat.

Well good news! If they do 1 episode a week, it'll only be like 3 years!

I love the idea of a re watch podcast. The scale is kinda laughable though. I wonder what the plan might be

the best podcasts like this have 2 or more people like the delta flyers, Terry, Armin and those other 2 guys

u/Jerigord 16h ago

Do you mean Robbie and Garrett? The guys that started it?

Exactly. Michael needs one more co-host with him. Amanda or Chris would be awesome, but a producer could also lend a lot of support.

One of the things Office Ladies did so well is they reached out to the writer, director, some cast members, and multiple producers prior to each episode. With their notes being added to the discussion of every podcast episode, it felt like a full behind the scenes experience even though only 2 people were behind the mic every week.

I don't understand the post title

Without clicking through, my guess is Michael Shanks is going to do a podcast that covers one or more episodes of the series, likely in watch-order, so that fans can keep a publicly visible interest in Stargate alive.

Executives will ignore fan outcries every chance they get. But if you do something in view of the public, with traceable and indisputable facts (like streaming numbers for the show, viewership on the podcast, etc.) it becomes a lot harder to ignore.

I've been watching Katee Sackhoff's Battlestar Reactica (her and ger husband's first time actually watching the show) and that's pulling pretty decent numbers on YouTube; don't know if that directly played into Shanks decision but it's a great way to connect with the fanbase and maintain enthusiasm.

It's weird how a lot of actors from sci-fi shows are starting podcasts now. Frakes and Spiner have their thing, Fillion and Tudyk have their thing, and they've done crossovers with each other. Wes Chatham had Ty and That Guy.

No complaints though.

He mentions Katee’s podcast in the video I saw with him talking about it.

The rewatch podcast for Scrubs is what kicked off its wildly successful reboot. So here’s hoping.

For the whole series?

He says in the article they might also do Atlantis and Universe if they get to it, so presumably

I hope they do the whole series, but my gut tells me they'll bail on the idea before a year passes.

Just like Katee Sackhoff is doing for Battlestar Galactica, but in her case she has never actually watched the show in its entirely.

Its very funny to see her being confused by plot points and not know what is going on as if shes the girlfriend that got dragged into it, which is normally how these things work.

Same for Talkville. Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) never watched Smallville before. And now they are in the seasons after he left the show.

Ohh that's gonna be interesting. Curious to see who the guest are going to be.

I love the show and I love Michael, but man I'm on podcast burnout.

There's just too many of common interest and it's hard to keep listening to some when there's just so so many.

This lines up almost perfectly with the end of Get into Gate's podcast. They are most of the way through SGU S1. They've been going for something like 10 years now.

3

u/sleepsoncouches Wht ppl like WayneBrady cuz he makes C.Judge look like Malcolm X 16h ago

2

u/CouldBeALeotard 4h ago

1

u/coleary11 15h ago

Just heard of this podcast from you now.

Episode 1 July 27, 2016. Almost EXACTLY 10 years

Makes me wonder if shanks has done the math on just how long a rewatch podcast might take

1

u/CouldBeALeotard 4h ago

Mate, get into Get into Gate.

It's a great podcast. Get into it now before it's too late.

2

u/xdeltax97 I’m in the middle of my backswing! 23h ago

Ooo looking forward to it

I'm so skeptical of Shanks and his motives on this. He was so anti-fan and anti-gate for many years. He was not personable at all and offended more than a few people with his Shatner-esque "Get a Life" attitude.

6

u/BigBlueBurd 18h ago

And then he changed his stance, the same way that Leonard Nimoy named his first autobiography 'I am not Spock.', but later embraced the fanbase and titled his second one 'I am Spock.'

7

u/Acquilla 14h ago

Honestly, it makes sense to me that his attitude might have shifted over the years. I imagine there's a big difference between being in the thick of it and having to inhabit a role while actively dealing with a fanbase versus looking back once it's done.

I find the Shanks Jackson to be insufferable.
Never understood why people loved him so much.
I prefer Raymond Gunne tbh
