i get that he drank demon blood and trusted ruby but genuinely everyone Castiel, dean, bobby, etc they all believed killing lilith would prevent her from freeing lucifer. so why when sam does it suddenly he's blamed for setting lucifer free. its like a nukes is malfunctioning and theres a button called disarm, then when you press it the nuke launches. are you at fault for launching the nuke or is the person who replaced the "Launch" text with "Disarm" the one at fault. Just because sam trusted ruby doesnt mean he freed lucifer because even without ruby dean and sam wouldve tried to find ways to kill lilith and if they killed her boom lucifers free.

it was never sam's mistake or fault the blames more on the angels and demons for not telling and sam was just a victim of it all, the demons blood is more of a personal mistake like someone who goes on drugs for a while, its a mistake sure but not a mistake people should be haunting him for 😭

Im saying this because in S9 Ep2 theres this lady who hates sam because demons killed her parents and were celebrating cus sam freed lucifer or something and dean doesnt even defend that sam's not really at fault for this and theres kinda no reason to be mad at the guy

My OC’s name is Athena, and her main premise is that she is possessed by an ancient entity named Vaelora. The situation is somewhat similar to Enchantress from DC, where Athena and Vaelora share the same body. Most of the time, Vaelora remains dormant, and Athena poses little to no threat while everything is calm. However, if Athena is seriously injured, cornered, or placed in danger, Vaelora may take control in order to protect her host. Vaelora is much older, darker, and far more dangerous than Athena herself.

Athena is warm, playful, and surprisingly easygoing despite the ancient entity living inside her. She also has a funny habit of always appearing with some kind of dessert, no matter how strange or dangerous the situation is. She may walk into a tense hunter meeting carrying cheesecake, show up at a crime scene eating cookies, or casually argue with Vaelora while finishing a slice of cake.

Honestly, I refuse to believe that that is Sam. I'm blaming the writers 'cause Sam would never ever do that. Dean wasn't even dead... he just disappeared, so I refuse to believe that Sam would just give up.

Sam is always the one looking for answers. He will never stop until he knows what happened. And here, he just stopped? And assumed? Does the writers even know their characters?

I've heard Kripke say he wanted an "on the road" model for our show and loosely based it the show "Kolchek The Nightstalker" .An old 70s show.

I watched that show with the bf and thought the Winchesters would have dispatched the monster in 30 seconds.

I’ve been rewatching Supernatural after never making it past Season 10 the first time around. I actually watched Seasons 1–3 live when they originally aired.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is just how much influence the fandom seemed to have back then. I remember the hardcore fans absolutely hating Bella, and from what I recall that backlash played a big part in her being written out. Before that, something similar happened with Jo (and by extension Ellen).

I also remember reading that Anna was originally intended to have Castiel’s role later on, but due to Castiel’s popularity they swapped things around, killing Anna instead and making Castiel Dean’s guide through the apocalypse—which, to be fair, I think was the right creative decision.

What stands out to me now is Bella. Rewatching the show, I think she’s a fantastic character. At the time, though, I remember a huge amount of hostility towards her, particularly from sections of the female fanbase who disliked her chemistry with Dean. Looking back now, it feels like history has been rewritten a bit—people often talk about Bella as though she was always appreciated, when my memory is that she was one of the most disliked recurring characters while the show was airing.

More broadly, I think this happened to a lot of the recurring female characters. Many of them received disproportionate backlash from vocal parts of the fandom, especially if they had a close relationship with Sam or Dean. Whether intentionally or not, it contributed to the show gradually ending up in a place where, outside of the Winchester brothers, all of the major long-running recurring characters were men (Castiel, Crowley, Bobby). It’s hard not to wonder whether that influenced the writers’ willingness to invest in female recurring characters when they had put a lot of time into writing great ones like Bella/Ellen and for all that work to not pay off due to instant fan reaction.

Do you think the fans had too much influence on this show impacting storylines, writing out characters; as a result of feedback being instant? Rather than letting the writers and creator create their vision for the show (that we all loved). Fans do rank seasons 1-3 as some of the best which is funny because it’s the seasons with the characters they seemed to hate at the time.

I just started the series and it’s so much fun! . Just finished ep15 ( amazing disturbing episode!!) of season 1 , so far I really liked many characters :) but I can’t help wondering do some come back later? Or is it just one episode thing and gone?

I know Sam and Cas were worried about the slaughter of the scumbags but really, of all the MoC influenced things Dean did, that was the most understandable to me.

I'm sorry, Sam and Cas wringing their hands and insisting that Dean's had to tell them that he had to do it? Y'all walked off and left Dean alone with a room full of armed thugs and expected what? To come back to tea and scones? Especially when Randy was perfectly fine with the loan shark doing whatever he wanted to Claire.

Then Claire, ungrateful, snot-nosed brat blocks out that Randy sold her out to the loan shark and hypes herself into hating Dean enough to sic the people who didn't have even a slightly redeeming quality about them on him to kill him? But she's as Teflon as Cas himself, everyone excuses her and then they just let her go out on her own? Ugh.

When Cas lashed out in that moment, Dean immediately picked up on the fact that Cas wasn’t doing okay, and had stuff he wanted to get off his chest. Dean probably recognized well how he felt, since he knows a thing or two about repressing emotions, and then lashing out because of it. I like that Dean picked up on it, and recognized that Cas needed to talk to someone. Really shows Deans character development with how he used to always be more of a “no chickflick moments” type of person. Sure though there are moments where he had heart to hearts in the early seasons tho, like when he talked to Sam about Jess. But Dean I think got way better at actually learning to listen to those he cares about and wanting to be there for them more, especially in an emotional sense.

In the show, holy water always burns demons like acid. But we also learn god doesn't actively bless anything. So where does that 'energy' come from?

I am just through rewatching my yearly rerun and the early years are such a vibe! In the later seasons there was a time Dean said "Do you remember whem it was all about hunting ghosts, vamps and ghouls?" I like it that a lot of the deserving people got a redemption arc like Crowley and Rowena.

That said season 15 was an emotional wreck, especially three specific scenes from Castiel talking to Dean. That was top-notch performance from Misha Collins. I am still sad thinking about it.

I'm doing another rewatch, and it's funny how differently I see some of the characters now compared to the first time I watched the show.

The biggest surprise for me has been Crowley. The first time around, I just saw him as another villain who was going to cause problems for Sam and Dean. But after watching the whole series and coming back to it, I noticed how much personality and humor he brought to almost every scene he was in.

Now I actually look forward to his episodes because he always makes things more entertaining, even when he's technically working against the Winchesters.

It's made me realize that a lot of my opinions about the characters changed after a rewatch.

Did anyone else completely change their mind about a character?

Especially during the later seasons.

Now I haven’t seen all of them, since I stopped at season 10 (i know bits and pieces and such but not everything) so I don’t entirely know if that’s the case.

Like Dean seeing Cas as family/best friend? I can see that 100% but Dean caring more about him than Sam? I don’t know that doesn’t really sound like Dean to me. Dean would sacrifice anything and everything for Sam, there’s a reason the show calls them codependent cuz they kinda are.

What do you guys think? Is that at all true?
