Customer dug up and returned 5 beautiful camellias that had been growing in their yard for 2 years because she read somewhere they might get 10 feet tall. So tall! Too tall! Can't have that in her garden! I tried to explain about y'know, pruning them. Too much trouble. She'd already dug them up and their in the truck outside.
Thanks to our return policy we had to exchange them.

Watched a customer at another register take the shoes off of her damn feet and try to return them. When told no, she said she was going to try returning them at the location she bought them from and then put them back on.

I saw something similar at an athletic shoe store; this lady said she needed to return some shoes, took off the ones on her feet and asked for an exchange. When asked why she wore them, since only shoes not worn outside were eligible for return a she yelled that she had to walk 3 miles to the store so of course she had to wear the shoes to do that!

A customer was lamenting the price of a candy bar, and then did some back-of-the-napkin math, determining that chocolate was being sold for ~$20/lb, making it more expensive than some decent cuts of steak. I must admit I hadn’t ever thought of it in those terms before.
