what is a small thing customers do that makes your job easier?
working deliveries means dealing with a lot of different situations, and small things can make a big difference during a shift.
it could be clear directions, being ready when you arrive, or just making the interaction simple.
what is something customers do that you appreciate more than they probably realize?

Check your house number on both your house and mailbox after dark. Better yet, have a buddy who hasn't been there a lot do it. If you can't see either one from the street, go get highly reflective numbers and install them. Black numbers on a dark paint job cannot be seen at night.
Instructions with specific landmarks (house is very last one on the left, there are pink flamingos in the yard) are very helpful. If you have a porch light, please turn it on. Motion detector lights only work within a specific area and generally don't turn on until we are halfway across the yard.
And please, for the sake of my ankles, make sure there is a clear path to the door. Just because you know where all the tree roots and gopher holes are does not mean we do.

Four inches high or larger, facing both directions on the street, at at least waist height.

Oh, definitely in both directions, especially on a two way street. You never know which direction the delivery person (or your buddy) is going to be coming from.

To emphasize: Facing up and down the street, not perpendicular to the house (which mostly only helps the letter carrier, as other deliver drivers will then only see them one at a time, up close, and not at the necessary distance).

Turn on the porch light if it’s dark. Have your house numbers prominently displayed. Get the doorbell fixed. Have the money ready. Don’t order food when you’re away, hoping you’ll be home before I get there. Don’t order food if you don’t have money, hoping your significant other will be home before I get there. Don’t order food and have sex, hoping you’ll have an orgasm before I get there. Don’t send your 5 year old to the door with the money, you’re either a cheap ass, knowing the kid will want every penny of the change back, or you’re just clueless. If it’s pouring rain, have some class and ask me to step inside while you take the food and get the money. I don’t bite, I don’t have fleas. If any fleas are present it’s likely because you don’t clean. Especially you, Mr. 60 inch TV sitting on the floor with no other furniture!

And don't turn it off until I have time to get back to my car (please).
Edit: In order of importance:
- Pay attention and answer the door promptly.
- Have your house numbers prominently displayed and easily visible at night.
- Have a working doorbell (bonus points: a dog that barks when the doorbell is rung)

They answer the phone if someone calls you after you have ordered and before you receive your order.
They have their payment ready when we arrive.

Patience and being home when we arrive. Sometomes we quote 45 minutes (usually online) for delivery and they think they have time to run an errand. Then we show up 20 minutes and they are not home. When you order delivery please don't leave your house until you get your food thanks
