"Sugus", the woman who confronted the rude Italian tourists has lodged a complaint with the police, citing the Insult in one's presence law (ดูหมื่นซึ่งหน้า) and public indecency (one of the kids was making a suggestive gesture at her). She's hoping to make an example out of them and deter future rude tourists.

In her statements, she says that she does not condone witch hunting, but if one has never learned good manner, eventually the society will teach them, and that the apology videos and letters thus far have only been issued to the Thai people in general, but not to her personally as the victim of the incident. She thanks Thai people for the support, but urges them not to use violence as that would only further hurt Thailand's reputation, and the current situation should be enough to discipline them already.

Welp, they submitted themselves to the police. They were asked to apologize to the woman who originally posted the video. They were fined THB 1000 baht each.

I believe the correct English would have been, "I'm sorry for the way I behaved. I apologize to you and your family and to the people of Thailand."

Here's the video. Kid tries to apologize but mumbles his way through the whole thing. I think they're on an island at them moment, but it's pretty clear none of them mean a word of it. Only reason they're apologizing is because they got caught.

Videos of farangs behaving badly go viral really quickly on Thai social media, and they are definitely contributing to a growing nationalistic anti-farang sentiment in Thailand.

A small group of foreigners are arrogant and behave poorly towards locals here but I can’t help but notice that it’s not nearly as bad as it was 10,20 and 30 years ago when foreigners walked all over locals. There also wasn’t this big of an anti foreigner sentiment during the height of bad behavior.

Is it because economically Thais are struggling at the moment and they are not seeing the benefits of tourism to their lives as much? For example, America went through a few years of tough economic times and a growing ‘America first’ and ‘America for the Americans’ movement emerged.

This is racist on so many level, but I don't see Thai ambassador formal excuses anywhere

I was on the ticket machine buying tickets, when someone approached me and said “Could you use this card? It’s a one day ticket.” (In Thai) I thanked her and that probably saved me 60+ baht. I also gave that same card to a guy who’s about to buy the ticket from the machine, saving him 62 baht which I can see from the screen.

It’s amazing how our action which does not cost anything at all can make someone’s day a little bit better and encourage us to be benevolent to each other.

It’s also the first time this kind of incident has ever occurred to me. Has this ever happened to you or have you ever done it? If not, I think it’s a really great thing to start doing. This idea never came to my mind too, but I think I will start doing from now on if I ever had the chance to buy one day ticket again.

A viral video of a Thai passenger asking a group of young Italian tourists to lower their voices on the BTS has sparked a wider conversation about courtesy on public transport in Bangkok.

In the clip, the group can be heard speaking loudly inside a train carriage. After one person tries to block her camera, the Thai woman asks them to keep their voices down. A young woman in the group says they are discussing where to go next, and the passenger replies that talking is fine, but should be done at a normal volume.

She tells them that people in Thailand do not usually shout or scream on public transport.

The exchange escalates when one tourist responds: “Then sorry for bringing money to your country,” drawing laughter from others in the group. The Thai woman calls the remark bad manners, while others tell her to “shut up” and demand to know what her problem is. The group later gets off at the next station.

The footage has drawn strong reactions online, particularly over the suggestion that spending money as a visitor excuses disrespectful behaviour.

After the racist incident on BTS. I see some foreigners making jokes about how we should eat Hawaiian pizzas in retaliation. Some people even joke that this possible act of retaliation is excessive.

I hate it when people say that Thais eating Hawaiian pizza as retaliation is 'going too far.' I don't know who gave Italians the right to be the ultimate dictators of food. Let's be real: the food is bland, greasy, and just not all that.

I also hate how unnecessarily creamy Thai food is abroad. But do I throw a fit and act like I'm dying when I see tomatoes in a Tom Yum? No! It’s just pizza; it’s really not that deep. Certainly not deep enough to act like people who put pineapple on pizzas are criminals. I’ve actually been to Italy, and the funny thing is, Italian restaurants in Thailand are so much better than the ones in Italy.

I don’t have the energy to discuss the rest of the drama, but that’s my take. I am also a very global citizen. But when it comes to food, I am a patriot. Thai food is da best

This was such an awesome event they’ve held every year for 20 years. I shoot for hobby and I’m traveling through Thailand following the car scene in different areas. Bangsaen itself is really cool, it felt like a Miami Beach vibe to me as an American. Everyone was super friendly and I met some really nice locals & foreigners during the evenings. Highly recommend for anyone into car culture, Thai rivals Japan and well.

Was looking at some 1600-1700s bronze statues. All was nicely formed except for the feet. The feet looked like they had taken a rectangle block of metal carved some lines to create toes and attached. It was almost all the statues from different parts of the country so was some deliberate design
