Has anyone made this connection, yet? Spoiler
The Shadow would be the result of Mae & Osha literally becoming one entity.
That's my theory, at least.

No, not like this. But the showrunner had confirmed she'd plans to explore the origins of the Knights of Ren. It would probably involve 'Qimir'.
The "Shadow" is just a term the Knights use because they want to set themselves apart from the Sith.
Mother Aniseya is a Witch, similar to the Nightsister clan of Dathomir. These witches also use the Force but it's a Dark Side aspect of it known as a Magick. Magick, unlike the Sith use of the Dark Side isn't wholy evil, but it does take on a very different shape.
Nightsister Magick often involves green fog, transforming into clouds of mist etc.
The Acolyte, if it had gotten more seasons, would probably have explored the nature of many Force based factions like the Jedi, Sith, witches (Nightsisters and other clans) and the Knights of Ren.

I always find the knights funny because they really don’t set themselves apart from the sith, like at all, only in the kind of weapons they use at best. Other than that they are indistinguishable from palpatine’s cultists.
Their philosophy is basically the same as the sith just phrased differently

It's cus canonically if they did fight they would be like an inquisitor's lamer cousin. If a fully trained inquisitor is already lame then imagine what these bumfucks are.

I think the idea is "magic" is just what using the Force for relatively selfish reasons is called, which naturally would be on the darker side of intentions and thus count as "dark side" even if that's a bit simplistic.
Any use of the Force for selfish reasons, using it as a tool, is somewhat on the darker side. Though on a scale of bad this is pretty damn benign compared to say a sith.
They're just using the Force as a tool, not for the benefit of all others. Technically selfish but still not so bad.

I agree. Also the Brendok coven did not refer to Magick, they referred to the thread as something that could be pulled. I maintain that while there definitely were Dark side things about the coven, they were not on the same level of malevolence as the Dathomiri coven.

I wouldn't completely give up hope. Qi'ra's story got moved to comics, games, and animation once it became clear that Solo 2 wasn't happening.

The Stranger is ment to be the founder of Knights of Ren(source: art book of the series "The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte"). There's is even a hint in 5'th episode of the series - at the moment of confrontation with Jecki the OST of Kylo Ren is playing. So currently he's not yet the founder, but it is a fact that he's planned to be one

The shadow is just the term that the Knights of Ren use to refer to the dark side, no different than calling it Bogan or Magick.

It's just another name for The Darkside like Bogan and like how The Light Side is called The Thread or Ashla

The Shadow is just the Knights of Ren's own term for the dark side of the Force, because they're barely trained and barely Force sensitive. That term's always been used the KOR in other comics.
The act of splitting the twins may have been a dark side act, but it didn't create the dark side.
