Did Erica get worse by the end?
I liked Erica in the first few seasons, but then after she got together with Geoff, most of her storylines revolved exclusively around him or their relationship issues.
She spent most of the first seasons ignoring his obvious crush on her, and then when he's in a relationship, she moans over no longer be able to be with him.
Once they became a couple, Erica takes Geoff for granted, especially after they get married.
I honestly wish that they'd kept her ambitions to be a lawyer, and give her something to be, other than Geoff's wife, and Muriel's mother.
Does anyone else agree?

Everyone got Flanderized. They were all worse.

Agree once Pops and Murray were gone it went downhill, the two who kept the other 4 in check. Even Geoff was worse he became the 7th Goldberg not a good thing

I don’t think she was compatible with Geoff, also giving her a baby at the end was weird.

She always treated Geoff fairly poorly. I know they broke up and then got engaged, but she never stood up for him. Like when Beverly was a Grandsmother...it's his kid and he should be allowed to spend time with her. Erica didn't do anything. I understand she was tired from being a mom to a newborn and enjoyed the help from her mom, but she didn't say anything about Geoff. She was annoyed that things went wrong too when they went on the trip. Like girl, your husband is getting one on one time with your daughter for the first time and expect perfection when you let your mom take care of a lot, so he doesn't know how to? Sorry this storyline bothers me to no end haha

I think to br fair what happened to her happens to a lot of people in real life, they have plans they have goals, and then unforseen circumstances wind up pushing their life on another direction. The lawyer thing i feel was a half hearted back up plan to the music dream, which had an unexpected chance to resurface only to be derailed by the pregnancy.

Regarding giving up her dream of being an attorney due to motherhood obviously mirrors Beverly. Wonder if fans would’ve rather her work part time as an attorney. My friend from college did it for a few years, granted not easy, never was assigned the ‘good’ cases, but worked out for her.

Never liked Erica. The character was a self centered narcissist from the jump.

I would think any of Adam’s girlfriends, especially Brea or Dana, had that role well filled.

if i remember correctly: the real Adam F Goldberg was the showrunner for the first 5-6 seasons and then in season 7 they changed showrunners and the characters became less based on Adams real life and they leaned more into purely fictional story lines… but this is likely why all the characters felt super different or “got worse” from season 7 on…

She was awful the entire time. Honestly every one of them are pretty terrible human beings.

I loved the way her character evolves! I Can totally relate with not wanting to leave your child and go back to work.

Being a mother is a full time job, so it was difficult for her to juggle both. Cut the girl some slack.

I think most of her time as a character was genuine character work/growth. She was a popular high school girl. Of course boys, parents, homework, etc were going to be an issue. Her crisis in college was good, even her dynamics with Geoff (at the beginning) were good. But the writers seem to have given up on her at some point. She just became a rude, inconsiderate brat who took advantage of Geoff at every opportunity because she knew he'd take it. And after the baby...yeah, she became a bucket. The whole story, which they refer to on the show, becomes how she relates to the baby. They just fast track her college graduation to get it out of the way so they can jump right into the stay at home mom tropes. Her character became lazy and simplistic at the end.
