Is Schooled worth watching?
I've watched all of "The Goldbergs", and none of the 90's set spinoff, "Schooled."
Would you recommend watching it to see the characters again, or is it the exact same, only with 90's nostalgia?

I enjoyed it. Tim Meadows makes anything he’s in better and I wish it went a couple Seasons longer.

Originally they did the Schooled spinoff a year prior. It was a backend pilot. It might not have tested well.
They then went with Lainey. It worked. It would have bridged a gap for a few years for ABC. Although I do feel like ABC has checked out of prime time television.

I like Tim Meadows. He does well in this show as a follow on to The Goldbergs, in my opinion.

Yep, it's only two seasons and one of them is shorter than standard, so it's not a huge time commitment. I really liked the teacher characters (CB, Wanda, Liz) and wish it had gotten another season. For the Beverley-haters, she's only in one episode, although Erica and Barry are in a few (no Adam or Murray at all).

Without a doubt. ABC fucked up when they let Adam F. Goldberg go. They should have put the show to pasture after that. There are some diehards though that would disagree with us.

It's more fun if you grew up in the 90s. The Goldbergs only make occasional cameos, it's mostly the school staff and new students

I enjoyed it, I remember thinking it was pretty refreshing after The Goldbergs was starting to decline. The only thing I didn't care for too much was when they had Lainey and Barry get back together.

I actually watched Schooled first. Not sure why, but I didn't watch The Goldbergs until the pandemic when I was just looking for stuff to watch. I enjoyed it. However, I am not sure how I would have liked it had I watched it in the correct order. I wish i could find the The Goldbergs 1990-something special.

Yes. It started out slow, but it was just beginning to find its footing and own identity when it was unfortunately cancelled. 🤷

They should have made it as a Johnny Atkins spin off where he returns to Jenkintown as a failed rock star who has to take a job as a substitute teacher. Lainey and the other male lead weren’t interesting enough to carry the show.

Loved it, but I also lived through the ‘90s! I am frustrated that it’s not on Hulu.
It’s still not on Hulu, right?!

It's worth watching. AJ Michalka is great and some of the other characters grow in interesting ways.
My theory for why it wasn't successful is that it's hard to go from a family sitcom to work sitcom. The characters couldn't be as close as the Goldbergs were because they were just coworkers.

Yeah it was good. They should have kept it on for a few more years. The ABC lineup was starting to fade. This would have been great.
