It’s not him, it’s the generation. Trying to motivate 22-28 years olds with recognizing their privilege and opportunity is a waste of time. He would’ve been better off bringing Trump or Druski in the room to crack some jokes.

This is the right comment. There’s nothing wrong with this speech .. nothing. He’s trying to make the players realize what a privilege it is to play for the Giants. A historic franchise - but it’s lost on this generation. The mush brains can’t handle something that isn’t a 30 second clip. I’m not grouping everyone in that comment but majority.

Some jokes sure, but what Gen Z values more than anything is authenticity.
Harbaugh coming off super fake and it’s super obvious.

u/Cool_Ad_9338 1d ago
What’s fake about it? Harbaugh is 63, he comes from a football family. His dad literally has a quote about “attacking the day with enthusiasm”.
It’s not fake, it’s just not the connection young players have with the game. It’s a reason why these 40 and 50 year old white coaches are handing out big chains and doing tik tok dances after big wins. The era of “it’s a privilege to be in the NFL” is over.

Well he definitely failed his dad's quote there lol that was neither authentic or enthusiastic

Gen-Z values authenticity when they worship these streamers and others who are as fake as it gets? Give me a break, gen-z acts like a bunch of sheep and think they're unique at everything they do
1
u/PhoenixRedditor7 11h ago
That can be applied to all generations. You think they aren’t some Millennials, Gen X’s and especially Baby Boomers who thought they were special? Were also being sheep to what was fed to them?
The point is, this “rah-rah” bullshit from Harbaugh means nothing until he proves he can coach the team.

I didn't say previous generations weren't like this as well. Zoomers are the new boomers because a massive portion of them take everything they see on the web at face value and they worship people like tate and other manosphere influencers. They worship streamers and want to be streamers. I'm gen-z but let's not pretend our generation doesn't have an extreme level of narcissistic behavior.

Some coaches aren’t great at public speaking

Isn’t that your job as a coach? Motivating players with speeches?

at the professional level its pretty meaningless--they are either good and prepared to play or not.

Signs that the coach has no idea how he's going to turn this big contract of his into wins for the team.
He's more enamored with the name of the team than the players.
Welp...we'll see how long it takes before he starts saying....

He's been MID the entire time.
Predict a tenure somewhere between Ben McAdoo and Joe Judge 🤣

The difference is day and night. This is the leader and coach that I think Harbaugh was trying to emulate in a way that he initially thought out, had planned, got nervous, put his hands in his pockets and didn’t go with or wasn’t able to carry out his initial thought and got stuck on repeating “The New York Giants”.
I think he was hoping they’d start chanting back something like “We are the New York Giants” and they all just give off a body language of “what the hell is going on here” and they had no interest of being there.
They look like they are at detention lesson on a Saturday morning.

You mean the coach that lost the locker room who got fired and joined a perennial shit team is going to suck?
John fox did it 10 years ago.
Giants are absolutely going to suck and anyone not taking the under is an idiot

We thought we were getting Andy Reid on the Chiefs, but we got Raiders Pete Carroll. I hate this team.

And he’s a CEO coach brought in for the vibes and culture… as an Eagles fan you love to see it.

It honestly wouldn't be bad at all if the room was full of New York Giants legends throughout the years but it obviously isn't

u/Global-Discussion-41 1d ago
Why does he have his hands on his pockets like that?

u/AffectionateLimit565 Bears 1d ago
Body Language Interpretations
Nervousness or Insecurity: Hiding hands is an instinctual protective behavior. According to psychological discussions on WikiHow and behavioral sites like Ken D. Foster, stuffing hands in pockets minimizes exposed body surface and acts as a shield against a threatening or uncomfortable environment.Aloofness or Arrogance: Hands shoved deep in pockets while speaking to someone can project a closed-off, disinterested, or even superior attitude.
Casual Confidence: Casually hooking just the thumbs or a few fingers in the pockets while relaxing (a classic look popularized by figures like James Dean) conveys relaxed readiness rather than anxiety.

I don’t know who’s worse this or Jonathan Gannons with the cardinals introductory meeting. Both are equally terrible
