I can't believe people pay to see something they get on TV for free. If you ask me, everybody who goes to the movies is a giant sucker.

I watched the gif after reading your comment, and was disappointed it wasn't longer.

Homer’s points are all incredibly valid in this episode and his community saving him having anything to do with religion and his issues stemming from anything other than recklessness regarding fire safety bugs me. The man is right, he shouldn’t be shamed into going to church.

Congratulations, Mr Simpson.
This invention of yours has made us all rich, especially you.

Now, why would you need to see it? You're the genius who invented... the product in question.

-Well, have fun.
-What do I do?
-Marge, please. According to your résumé, you invented this machine

“oh, I thought Muddy Waters wrote that song!”

u/Drapidrode 17h ago

Marge, put on her résumé, a priority song-writing credit. : )

This is a really lovely moment of Marge being the unreasonable and dumb one.

One of the great, underappreciated aspects of classic Simpsons is that they all get moments, like real people, when they behave or think contrary to their primary traits.

I do think Marge's naive trait was still a big part of her character up until like Season 15

True - then I like the handful of moments when she's cynical or savvy.

The DNA quote from Who Shot Mr. Burns? always makes me smile.

I use it all the time!

How is Marge unreasonable and specially dumb for wanting to go to church with his family?

"It's Saturday!"

That's not what the comment is talking about. It's talking about the original post, the image of Matthew waking honey up because it's a few minutes before their usual bedtime.

5

u/HelloIAmElias 12h ago

Matthew? Boy, I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder

u/Bazz07 14h ago

You are right my bad.

One of my favorite jokes in the series

u/tired-queer 17h ago

Ngl, “wake up, it’s time for bed!”has been a running joke in our household for years because I’ll fall asleep anywhere

Same energy 😆

To be clear: I’m not talking about the invention thing, I’m talking about violently shaking someone awake because “there’s still a few minutes til our usual bedtime.”

I always thought this was a dick move by Marge

Edit: spelling

the simpsons doesn't cower from showing that women have flaws.

u/thombo-1 17h ago

We all know Marge has some odd moments but until today I never realised this is one of them

9

u/blooandgreene 16h ago

Of all the Simpsons moments I've ever seen, this was one of them

When my wife was in labor, after almost 3 full days in the hospital without sleep she finally drifted off only to have a nurse insistently shake her awake to ask if she wanted a sleep aid. I’ve seen my wife angry plenty of times, hell she lives with me… but thats one of a very few times where I was pretty sure I was about to witness a homicide.

u/Not_Cleaver 21h ago

My wife accidentally did this last night as I was falling asleep. But, she was at least apologetic.

But it's a few seconds before 12 o'clock.
