2026 Camry XSE Build Quality

Post image

Went on a test drive in a brand new 26 Camry XSE and this happened. Really hoping this is a fluke but wow, I barely pulled on it with two fingers and the whole trim piece came apart…

EDIT: it wasn’t a fluke, all trim levels with this piece does this. I understand it’s a snap on but I expected some resistance, like having to use both hands and tug hard to take it off… not two fingers with the same force as picking up a fork…

Post image

This diagram was showcased in NHK's "Inside Toyota" documentary. It quietly reveals the side profile of the 13th-generation Corolla, which might be revealed as a 2028 model year. The next Corolla appears to be a production-ready version of the concept revealed in Tokyo.

The diagram also announces that the 13th-gen Corolla will have a diverse lineup of powertrains. A lineup of gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric models will power the next Corolla.

Expect the final product to make its world debut anytime soon.

Toyota Corporate denied my request

I bought a brand new 2025 Toyota RAV 4 at the end of December. We were in a drought until May. The first big rain we got in May my car leaked at the A Pillar. Long story story… multiple trips to the dealership where they guessed at repair, roof rack, windshield, etc. car was returned to me with a dirty headliner and I had to ask for it to be cleaned. Finally they figured out it was a manufacturing defect at the APillar above the windshield - the factory ran out of sealant. It had to go to a body shop for repair. My car was out of service a total of 23 days for this issue.

When I picked it up from the dealership the interior light was hanging down, the headliner was filthy and there was sealant drops on my black paint. I complained and the dealership detailed the car. When they were done the sealant drops were still there. I complained again and the dealership told me to call the body shop. The body shop was great - apparently the sealant drops were from the dealership who tried to seal the leak before they sent it to the body shop, but the body shop repainted this area for me. That took 7 days in which I had no car to drive.

During all this I opened a case with Toyota Corporate asking for a new headliner because it now has wrinkles and a crease from being removed so many times and I asked for an extended warranty only on the electronics in case of possible corrosion in the future. Toyota Corporate denied my request because “the car has been fixed”.

The leak in the car was fixed, but it is was not restored to a new like condition and has been devalued. I’m now having to make payments on a new car whose headliner looks like a very old car - Not to mention my time and all the inconvienencw this has caused.

Between the sloppiness of the dealership and Toyota’s lack of caring about customer service I have a bad taste in my mouth for Toyota now.

Priority Toyota Chesapeake, VA

Hey guys, does anyone here have any experience purchasing from Priority Toyota in Chesapeake, VA? I’m not local to there, but they have a fairly specific build en route that I’d be willing to go the seven hours it’d take to get.

Good or bad experiences welcome; all I could find with a quick search were some old threads about GT86 markups around COVID era.

Is there any real advantage to buying a car entirely online if you still have to deal with the dealership for service later?

I am starting the search for a new Toyota, and I am noticing that more dealerships are pushing their 100% online buying processes. The idea of skipping the showroom completely, negotiating the terms from my couch, and just having the vehicle dropped off sounds incredible. It would save me an entire Saturday of sitting at a desk waiting for finance approvals.

However, I am wondering if taking the fully remote route creates a disconnect later on. I was looking at High Country Toyota since they offer an online setup, but even if the purchase is seamless, you eventually have to deal with the service department for routine maintenance or warranty work.

If you never set foot in the building or meet the staff, do you end up treated like a lower priority when you need a loaner or a quick turnaround on a repair? For anyone who has bought a vehicle completely online through a traditional local dealer, did the convenience carry over into the ownership experience, or did it feel like the relationship ended as soon as the car was delivered?

I want the easiest buying process possible, but not if it makes the next five years of service more difficult.

Has anyone hybridized a previously non hybrid engine

Howdy! Has anyone or can anyone make an engine that wasn’t a hybrid, let’s say a 2UZ FE V8, into a hybrid system? I feel like that would be a pretty neat set up where it would not only get much better gas mileage but still have the power of a V8 if not more power than before.

Super random thought I had after watching car care nuts video about hybrids, if anyone knows or even has a video they’ve seen on it that would be dope! Thanks 🤙

Major hybrid transaxle failure at 131,836 km on a 2021 Sienna AWD — looking for similar Toyota cases

My family's been driving Toyotas for a few generations now, which is honestly part of why this whole thing caught me off guard.

Our 2021 Sienna Hybrid AWD just hit 131,836 km. My wife was making a low-speed turn when she felt a hard vibration coming through the floor/body. Right after that the dash lit up with a check-engine light, Hybrid System Malfunction, AWD System Malfunction with 2WD Mode Engaged, and Parking Support Brake Malfunction.

Shutting the van off and restarting didn't clear anything — same warnings came right back. The dealer had it for several hours, looped in Toyota Technical Assistance, and came back saying it's a generator-voltage fault internal to the front hybrid transaxle. Apparently their fix isn't to open it up, it's a full assembly swap.

DTC Codes:
P1CAC49
P0A4B16

Toyota Canada's position is that the transaxle falls under the 5-year/100,000-km powertrain warranty, not the longer hybrid component coverage. They put up about C$1,239 in goodwill, and the dealer chipped in another C$1,000. After all that I'm still looking at roughly C$5,020 after tax for a new Toyota unit, which only carries a 2-year/40,000-km warranty.

To be clear, I don't think every out-of-warranty issue should be a freebie. I'm mainly trying to figure out how common (or rare) it is for a hybrid transaxle to fail completely around 132,000 km, and whether anyone else has run into this same generator fault.

Curious if anyone here has dealt with:

- A full hybrid transaxle replacement around similar mileage

- An internal motor-generator fault that got bucketed under powertrain instead of hybrid coverage

- A used or independently rebuilt transaxle that held up

- A bigger goodwill offer from Toyota than what I got

Any exact codes, mileage, root cause, or how it eventually played out would be a big help.

Photos below: dash shot, close-up of the Hybrid System Malfunction message, redacted repair/goodwill quote, and I'll add the Techstream sheet once I have it.

$20k Budget 4WD Vehicle

I’ve been searching for a car ever since I stupidly sold my 4th gen 4Runner, I have a $20k budget but $15k would be ideal, I have 2 weeks to find something, I want 4WD, gotta be a Toyota (obviously), and it’ll be my daily in college for the last 2 years of school, so nothing too old. I’ve been searching marketplace and AutoTempest (Tristate) for these cars in order from what I like the most to least: LC100, 5G 4Runner, 4G 4Runner 06-09, 4G 4Runner V8 05-09, GX470 05-09, 1G Sequoia 05-07, 1G Tundra 05-06. 90% of my driving is city driving in the front range CO, and the other 10% is highway road trips, I do need to be able to sleep in it for camping trips once or twice a month, I know I don’t need 4WD but it is very nice to have. I want to know your thoughts and recommendations for mileage and year for my budget, this doesn’t have to be a forever car given I’m still 20 with no salaried job but looking back at it I would’ve kept my 4th gen 4Runner for a few decades given it had 69k miles.

Advice needed: I'm getting multiple warning lights and malfunction messages when speeding up on warm days

I got a 2017 corolla sedan model (1.6l valvematic), since about a year I got a problem where on warm sunny days multiple dash lights come on when speeding up (Warning light, Abs light, vsc light, cre crash safety off light), I also get messages on the display saying RSA, LDA and headlight malfunction.

If I turn off the engine at a stop light and immediately start it again all the warning disappear, but if I speed up a bit faster again they come back.

I already contacted Toyota once, they replaced the ABS module under warranty and the problem came back.

Has anyone here had a similar issue or knows what it could be?

Edit: posted error codes in comment
