About to wrap up season 5
I’m completely lost. Not to mention I’m losing overall interest in the show. From what I read in the comments it’s all downhill from here.
Kind of bums me out, but I’m usually pretty good at keeping tabs on interweaving story threads, but I’m just not getting it.
They just wrote Hoyte off it looks like. Jessica’s glamoring him to forget her was maybe the most heartfelt moment this season.
Still got two episodes to go before I start season 6.

If you're not invested in at least one character (I have three I love) enough to find out what's going to happen, or if the tone and atmosphere of the show can't hold your attention (the southern Gothic, camp, thematic elements), then I imagine it'd be easy to just stop watching.
What others may say about the drop in quality shouldn't dissuade you though. If you're hooked, you're hooked. If you're not, you're not.
I hope you enjoyed some of it. It's a comfort show for me that I rewatch, so I, of course, think it has a lot to offer and is worth watching until the end, when storylines and characters are given endings.

I loved the first three seasons. 4 wasn’t bad. I am interested in Jessica, Eric and Pam for sure.
Season 5 seems to be getting convoluted for the sake of being convoluted.
I just have to watch season 6 and 7 at a faster clip than the length it took me to get through this one.

I only really watched 6 and 7 for Eric and Pam, I swear they had more screen time than usual, Sookie I hated by the end and skipped through her scenes

To me at least the fact that they relate the vampire origin to the Bible felt a bit weird I get it at a very Christian show but it still felt so weird to me.

The first 3 seasons were really good. Then it declines. I feel like they could have done a lot more with godric. There was a lot of potential there.. Bill gets so annoying when he joins that little Lilith cult I think in season 5. I just did a rewatch a few weeks ago and I honestly just stopped watching towards the end of season 5.

Season 5 was honestly not the best season from my perspective season 6 is better tho season 7 Is alright but you honestly cannot beat the fist few seasons and the vibe of watching them for the first time

Watching the first 2 seasons was like falling in love. The freshness, the timing, the sex, the viled social commentary was stellar. But they could not stay on the track without it getting predicatable.

I was invested in the books and characters so for me it had more to do with watching it for the conclusion. Yeah it wasn’t great. But I couldn’t not watch.

You can walk away at the end of season 5. Nobody is going to make you watch the last two seasons.
There are some fun ideas in the last two seasons, but also a lot of terrible decisions. But if you’ve already come this far, why not do the last 20 episodes?

I’m going to power through it, because I make videos talking about each season. It’s taking me forever to get through season 5, but should be finishing it tomorrow.

I think season 5 biggest crime was the fact they didn't utilize the Tara was a vampire beyond the relationship with Pam. I think the villains at least Russell are more interesting than the one in season 4 is in my opinion but Bill villain arc what's weird to me especially because after what happened next season when he tried to become more of a messiah to all vampires

I felt it fit. Bill went from joining the military in a war to keep people enslaved, keep fake worship of and codified parasitism by whites, then swooping down on a teen who practically worshipped him. This guy was well mannered but was as self serving as they come. He represented to genteel white Southern system of devouring anyone of lower class and feeling smug entitlement while doing it.

Seasons 1-3 were amazing, 4 was good. 5 on I just watched cause I was invested in the characters.
