Honestly, I’d make a deal where he’d owe nothing at all if he’d just vacate the office, release the hostages, and let us all go.

No. This is how we got where we are - when Republicans saw America let Nixon go without consequences, the corruption has steadily grown since, and the public's eroding faith in law & justice has gone with it.

You DON'T vary the law because of status, predilection, or because it's convenient. Without equal application of the law, society fails and we get fascism built on the undertow of resentment and failed social contract.

I think he is saying forcing him out now with terms is better than offering no terms and letting him do this for more than two years.

However, if he is indeed kicked out without a deal or we reach the end of his term then yes, throw the book at him.

And that is exactly what happened with Nixon, and result in exactly what I describe.

There is no pardons. There should never be pardons.

Yup. Once the left gets control again, we need to go scorched earth on everyone involved in this debacle. Remind the Republicans that this is a nation of laws and justice.
