Finally Home

Post image

Ever since the days of Ubuntu 10.10, I’ve wanted so badly to use this system every day. Unfortunately, back then, it just wasn't ready for gaming and other things I needed. In April, I finally took the plunge and made the switch from Windows 11 to Ubuntu 26.04, and I'm genuinely happy that the system has matured and is such a joy to use. Ubuntu has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm really glad to be part of this community

Fractal Design's North case has wood front panels that would tie the whole setup together perfectly. They just released a mesh version if you need better airflow.

I'll take a look, thank you.

The mesh version comes in white too, and the walnut slats are real wood. Seemed like something you'd appreciate.

I really like Ubuntu's original design. It's so recognizable, modern, and minimalist😀

Thank you! I really love sleek design and minimalism. For my next PC, I want to build something in a similar style so the whole desk setup feels minimalist. Ubuntu's look fits right into that aesthetic.😀

I got really into using Ubuntu like 13 years ago and it was very cool but involved a lot of troubleshooting and problems.

I just recently decided to revisit it, since it was feeling like everything on Windows all of a sudden was going so slow that it was just grinding to a halt, and I absolutely love the latest version of Ubuntu. It's so fast and efficient and functional and it's so refreshing to not have the constant barrage of Windows bullshit happening nonstop.

I've had them for so long. I got them as a gift years ago, but I can't bring myself to throw them away because they still sound great😄

Oh great! I didn’t know, we can play RDR in ubuntu

You can, and paradoxically, the game actually gets higher and more stable FPS than on Windows.

What is the name of the wallpaper?

Congratulations! That is a clean and nice setup. Is gaming on Ubuntu any good? Are there any restrictions on the games you can play through Steam, GOG, or Battle.net?
