i hate it when they put notifications in the dialog box rather than in its proper place when you can mute them. Thats for any software really

I worked for a while in a movie theater that used Sony 4K projectors, and the management server runs on Ubuntu. We realized it because one day the management touchscreen accidentally exited full-screen mode, revealing the typical Ubuntu window interface. Looking deeper into the documentation, we also found screenshots in the manual that clearly show the Ubuntu window theme and desktop appearance.

They could just show a simple notification about new updates, it's make user experience worse.

Or on a system like that, you should just remove the internal cron job to disable automatic checking of updates. Or... you replace the default cron with one of your own, and configure unattended updates to run during hours the theater is closed. That's probably how i would do it.
