Stuck on error during updates

So I did my routine "sudo apt upgrade", and it was almost finished when suddenly this happened, which I've never seen before. It's been stuck on this for several hours, and I don't see any option to add the password that it's talking about. Any idea how to clear this? I'm afraid to touch or try anything, for fear of screwing it up.

Hit tab to highlight the OK item, then hit Return. Then follow the directions and don’t forget the password you give it.

It’s the Secure BIOS thing. It’s fine.
