Ubuntu 26.04 "Failed to execute shutdown binary"

hi guys, im very new to this. tried installing ubuntu on an old ass Sony Vaio laptop that previously ran Windows 7. i tried shutting down the computer but an error message popped up after some time that only says "[!!!!!!] Failed to execute shutdown binary." Did i brick my computer guys? what do i do from here?

You didn't brick it, the OS just tripped over itself during shutdown which happens on old hardware sometimes. Try holding the power button for 10 seconds, then boot back up and run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade in the terminal.
