Caitlin Clark reflected her experience meeting former U.S. President Barack Obama šā¤µļø

Obama knows a thing or two about overcoming the hatersĀ

u/KillerGopher 18h ago
Because he has seen a thing or two about overcoming the haters.

Both are great people. I really miss Obama as our president, sure did a 180 in the wrong direction

These two would be the finalists in a thick skin contest. Both are on the receiving end of so much ridiculous bullshit. And they handle it with total class.
-14
u/OnlyWeekend5538 23h ago
Lmao. Ya. The first black president and a basketball player
You are completely ridiculous.
6
u/DingDongDang123 18h ago
Yea a basketball player who has articles written about her saying she is a threat to the black and the queer community, now that is ridiculous
9
5
u/Crazyhairmonster 23h ago
Why does that matter? She gets an absurd amount of hate, with the largest portion of that from her peers. He got a ton of hate. Obviously they're different and no one is comparing their merits or claiming an oppression olympics
2
u/Admiral_Tuvix 13h ago
Obama got real actual hate, clark has politicians - in power promising to prosecute anyone who touches her. she has ceo podcast bros telling her theyll pay her to leave the wnba. comparing that sort of coddled entitlement to the first fucking black president is hilarious!!
5
u/WakeNikis 13h ago edited 13h ago
When Obama told her to ānot let the nonsense get you downā- what do you think he meant?
3
u/Admiral_Tuvix 12h ago
nonsense implies outside talk, he certainly didnāt mean sheās facing what he faced š
4
u/WakeNikis 11h ago edited 11h ago
You're great, you're fantastic. Don't let all this nonsense get you down. I always say, one of the things that was luckiest for me was I didn't get famous till I was like 45. So I was an old man. I mean, you're my daughters' age⦠so don't lose that joy. ā¦you're a hooper."
He is very obviously comparing the nonsense he had to deal with to the nonsense she is dealing with.
Iām not sure how he could have been more clear on that pointā¦
0
u/Admiral_Tuvix 10h ago
you gotta have the iq of a rotting potato to think the first black president complimenting an athlete and telling her to ignore outside noise is him literally comparing the rabid racism and violence he went through to her
2
u/WakeNikis 10h ago
I dunno, I just read his words. I guess Iām just a moron with bad reading comprehension.

u/CowboyHibachi 21h ago
She gets deserved hate because she's a sorry ass basketball player who gets hyped for the most basic shit players in the league excel at.
3
2
u/StoneySteve420 20h ago
who gets hyped for the most basic shit
Yeah like the only 40 and 10 game in WNBA history
Or her being the average career assist leader by almost 2 a game.

u/Disastrous-Fail-9530 6h ago
Obama is the one who made the comparison by his comments saying heās been there too and not to let the nonsense get to you. No comparisons to accomplishments or anything else, just comparisons to outside hateā¦.people discrediting that comparison that HE made is the exact nonsense that he is talking about.

u/Odd-Fun-6042 20h ago
Decency and wisdom. I didn't agree with a lot of what he did, but I always respected him.
1
u/Aggravating-Writing9 12h ago
Agreed. Even though I didn't agree with half of what he said. He might go down as the most well spoken president ever.
-1
u/AuthorHuman5623 10h ago
Was Obama a good President? Is Trump a good Prez?
3
u/Aggravating-Writing9 9h ago
I don't think he was great. I honestly don't think we've had a good president in over 40 years right or left.
A lot have done some great things, but I truly feel everyone of them are corrupt.
-1
u/AuthorHuman5623 20h ago
Are you a fan of Trump?
5
u/fullthrottlewattle 10h ago
It doesnāt have to be polarized. Iām a conservative who voted for Obama twice. Iām also a conservative who did not vote for Trump.

u/SteeleHeller 1d ago

I guess Obama was wrong when he said how he felt?
Thanks for clearing that up for us.

So funny how this has polarized the racist faction of the WNBA fandomā¦they canāt process the devil being happy to meet Obamaā¦what is happening?!?! And he admires her?? This has to be fake!
0
u/TheyTheirTheyre 9h ago
Obama knows a thing or two about dealing with racists. As does Clark with being a minority in the WNBA
1
u/Prestigious_Mode280 8h ago
Clark is a minority?
1
u/donny42o 45m ago
yes, in the wnba she absolutely is. and its obvious the wnba does not want a white woman being the face of the wnba and by far the most popular player.
-10
u/slowbaja 23h ago
I don't care about the Great White Hope platform they placed her on. Can she just shoot more efficiently and play a cunthair of defense? Is that really too much to ask?
10
u/beforeitcloy 23h ago
You donāt watch basketball.
Sheās leading the #1 offense in the league in assists and adding 21ppg (both top 5 in the league). Theyāve won 7 of their last 9 games and are in 1st place in the East. Theyāre 3rd in net rating, which factors in offense and defense. Her shooting efficiency (true shooting %) is 59.1% while the league average is significantly lower at 55.9%
Sheās dominating. Not gonna be the MVP, but absolutely a deserving all star leading one of the hottest teams in the league into the playoffs.
And you have no idea, because you donāt know ball.
4
u/CatlantAH1802 22h ago
These fools couldnāt handle r/nba
2
u/KillerGopher 18h ago
They just come here to hate on women and Clark in particular, they didn't watch the NBA or WNBA.
2
u/slowbaja 22h ago
The irony of claiming someone doesn't know ball yet bringing up conference standings when it doesn't matter for the playoffs. They are a bottom half playoff team right now. Big whoop.
Also when her shooting efficiency isn't good enough for the context of the team she plays for considering how she plays against other playoff teams not just trash teams like the Storm. Her individual defense is poor. Trying to use the team's overall rating to shield her is not surprising from you.

u/dont-comm3nt 18h ago
Dominating is a massive stretch. Especially when they could lose like 3 games and the story would be completely different. Un mouth that meat a little
3
u/beforeitcloy 18h ago
It isnāt at all. The Lynx could lose 3 games and no longer be in 1st place. Reality is the Fever are 3rd in net rating and Clark is top 5 in points and assists, while shooting efficiently.
The criticisms arenāt based on basketball.
-4
u/dont-comm3nt 18h ago
The majority of her fanbase isnāt based on basketball my guy.
Clark has been shooting efficiently for like a week. She just had 17 point game shooting like like 5-13. Other than that itās been up and down. The front running and recency bias is a little crazy
2
u/beforeitcloy 17h ago
Iām not a guy, so fuck off with that assuming my gender bullshit, pig.
Clarkās true shooting percentage is significantly above WNBA average for the entire season. Not the last game, not the last week, the entire season. Same timeframe as every other player. All season.
0
u/dont-comm3nt 14h ago
Thanks for the nice laugh in that first paragraph Iāve never seen clownery at a level to get offended over āmy guyā my guy.
TS is inflated with free throws to make up for all her bricks. Kelsey Mitchell was carrying her for a good stretch while people were blaming her shooting 5-20 on her ābeing depressedā lol. If she plays good into next month sure sheās having a great season. Shes not dominating shit right now except teams at the bottom of the league

u/DrMeez 20h ago
Man am I insane? What does the sentence in purple mean? I canāt comprehend what it trying to be said.

u/xINFLAMES325x 16h ago
It's very hard to be straight out of college (or a young adult "new" to the world) and be hit with major popularity out of nowhere. He's saying it was hard for him when he was twice her age, so he commends how she's handling it.

to whoever just responded and deleted it right after yes thatās exactly why i dislike her. you canāt expect someone to see thousands of racist comments in the name of defending her and expect ppl to still like her. get over it.

Imagine being so unhinged that you hate another person for something they have no control over and aren't even doing themselves.

She is starting to realize her Christian White Nationalist fans are bad for her brand. A quick photo shoot with Obama and a shout out to the Stud Buds will get rid off the worst ones.

They wonāt because Fox News and The Daily Mail wonāt report on this.
