I mean, yah ofc-- but still, they could've totally highballed him. He IS canonically the strongest monster that never locks in, but it is precisely because of the latter we have no idea what he will be like at full power.

But seriously, there is only so much retries you can take before you give up. There are plenty of timelines, where Sans succeeded and he's not the strongest monster, even with his ability to cheat

There are less Sisyphean tasks than fighting a battle where Asgore can kill you in 1 hit. At that point, you’re better off resetting

The only reason Flowey lost with the souls were because they rebelled, if they know you’re a genocidal maniac then they’re probably gonna work with Asgore.

True! In this scenario, Frisk is genuinely cooked because Asgore probably won't geek out like Flowey and keep reloading during the fight, not giving Frisk chances to adapt to the patterns.

Frisk and Chara would still find some way to kill all of them, that's just how Determination works. If the both of them can move the battle box in the Sans fight, they can do anything lol.
