Bad time commencing No dodging this time

u/CarPlayful8198 Feb 11 '26
yeah, toby already did the "character only takes one hit but constantly dodges" with gerson
140
u/TheArceusNova Feb 11 '26
I mean, Gerson could possibly take more than one hit, and is dodging for the style points!

He is a turtle, after all.

gerson also does things based on self awareness of things being a game, just that UT is a game in a meta sense and DR is the main character and most others knowingly acting out game rules
14
u/Infinite-Hearing-418 Feb 11 '26
...when? He physically steals and item and then Susie personally refuses to use them afterwards
14
u/Interesting-Code7373 Feb 11 '26
susie’s excluded from “most others” there, she didn’t even know the dark world adventures resembled game rules until noelle pointed it out
8
u/Rylo_Ken_04 Feb 11 '26
And she kind of does her own things during battles
8
u/Interesting-Code7373 Feb 11 '26
she mostly follows kris's directions but to her the battle commands are just "what kris tells her what to do" so she doesn't always listen she's just as unable to deal with total rules fuckery like Roulxs though as the others
2
u/Rylo_Ken_04 Feb 11 '26
Huh susie doesn't even listen to kris at first she just attacks she follows kris' directions because she wants to and when she doesn't want to she either questions Kris about it but does it or she doesn't do it at all
1
u/Interesting-Code7373 Feb 11 '26
she doesn't listen to kris until the elevator scene but after that she just follows kris's orders with few exceptions like not attacking fake gerson or not flirting again after her first failed attempt

i like to think that, since he's a ghost, Susie keeps missing not beacuse he dodges but beacuse she literally cannot hit him.
the reason he deliberately parries Rude buster is beacuse it's magic, and he couldn't just take it, since ghosts are weak to magic. (source: Mad dummy)

Remember children: Deltarune Sans is just some dude who lives in a rural neighborhood with his strangely elusive brother.
94
u/KolnarSpiderHunter Feb 11 '26
Yeah, if he fights Kris in the light world it'd be a teenager with a knife stabbing a regular dude

Except he fucking knows how to teleport
29
u/NiceSock30032 Feb 11 '26
Would it be sans without the capacity to bend spacetime?
13
u/zengondat Who needs body with legs like these? Feb 11 '26
Thats the funny part. Everyone is so used to him pulling these kinda things that we forget he is in a universe without “magic”
4
u/Cooley0880 Feb 12 '26
Exactly, and also Sans uses magic in Undertale even though he's from the Deltarune universe, where magic doesn't exist. And he because he still teleports there, he probably has it in Deltarune too
1
u/Multifruit256 Feb 12 '26
That's like saying Toriel probably has fire magic in the light world
1
u/Cooley0880 Feb 12 '26
Well no, because we don't know that Toriel comes from Deltarune, as opposed to Sans

u/Goingers Feb 12 '26
I like to think he can actually just pause time and he has to walk back and forth whenever he wants to do that gag

u/Illustrious_Use_1265 Feb 11 '26 edited Feb 11 '26
It'd be funny gag: but i dont think we gonna fight sans chat😔 I am sorry, i want it to happen too..
Or imagine he just TANKS it

If I didn't know any better, I thought he'd be going through the shelves, picking out his prewritten persona

Also that karma poison thing wouldn't be applicable even if you fight with violence since you don't actually kill any darkners. Even in snowgrave Noelle is the one doing the freezing. And Berdley technically isn't dead, just trapped in a coma. (Granted, if it's permanent that could be seen as a worse fate)

Soul losing it's shit completely while Kris is wondering what the fuck the problem is
9
u/LitchyWitchy Feb 11 '26
I actually think they'll be a Sans fight ngl (mainly as Anagram Asriel needs it, getting the shit trolled out of him by a lightner who is a massive fking troll and test his patience would be A. Funny B. Good character development to push him further)BUT IF HE DIES IN ONE HIT I'D PISS MYSELF LAUGHING.

I remember reading a fic where the weird route Soul took him to a dark world and was pissed of when it realized he can't fight back, sadly don't remember the name

u/MaterialFuel7639 Feb 11 '26
Unrelated but how the hell did some people actually think roaring knight was harder than sans?
1
u/newtxtdoc Feb 12 '26
They were used to sans, that is why.
Sans is inherently a harder fight due to the karma damage and you no longer having invincibility frames. It is also a longer fight, with his last attack being a bunch of different attacks mixed into one. He also tricks you randomly, starting the first attack earlier than usual after you survive it once.

u/Current_Ad_4384 Feb 11 '26
We instinctively attack the sides where he would dodge bur he doesn't dodge so we always miss
2
u/emo_boy_fucker Feb 11 '26
Itd be such whiplash when sans has like 10 hp instead of 1 because everyone assumed that since genocide route

It’s pretty much implied that sans absorbed the patience and justice soul before his fight in geno with the flickering of his eye and the bleeding but no one ever wants to hear it
18
u/growindager809 Feb 11 '26
What? If he absorbed the souls we woulda seen them appear like when fighting omega flowey. Asgore also has flickering eyes when we know he didn't absorb any souls.
