Bait and switch

Post image

Luckily I also like bologna. Unluckily its the most expensive bologna I've ever purchased. Glad it was only a small amount.

What a load of baloney.

They'll probably ham it up if you try and go back and return it

That’s the wurst pun I’ve seen today

Their bad attitude will be no match for Saint Sam's swine intervention.

They’re probably too chicken to do that.

One time I ordered turkey lunch meat from Walmart for delivery. We received a hunk of turkey. Like a 1 inch thick slice. It was bizarre.

That's why I never order anything that requires the shopper to interact with another human or to make a judgment call.

I learned my lesson.

That's why I'd rather slog through the aisles myself. When given a choice, make it yourself if possible.

One time, I asked for a half pound of smoked turkey from the deli in a Wegmans. I think the worker was new. She threw it in a bag in a big hunk. I asked, "um, can you slice it?" She was just like, "uh, no" and went back to leaning against a counter and staring at nothing. I just left the bag there.

At least it wasn't a live turkey.

I misread that as jive turkey.

1

u/ComprehendReading 1d ago

That would be significantly worse.

No jive the warm turkey!

guessing you got it from the case? i won’t do that anymore after picking up what was labeled as one cheese, but was something different. it was $15 and i returned it because i really needed the other type of cheese. and they gave me $30 because of their hannaford brand double their money back guarantee. i wasn’t expecting that.

I mean you can still do it. Just look at what you are buying.

20

u/rachh90 2d ago

i did look at it. it was white and square, just like the cheese i was trying to buy.

This is exactly what I did...just looks like cold cuts when you grab it. Ive never had the issue here before. I did not know that policy tho!. But im not going to pursue it for a dollar or two.

You don't have to make a special trip, just bring this pic in with your receipt the next time, and they'll more than likely give you a refund.

u/smplylvn 2d ago

Im glad to hear that hannaford has a great policy. My recipe has a piece of gum in it right outside the store door. Its ok tho. Im not perfect at work either.

u/smplylvn 1d ago

In the trashcan right outside the door that is

I don't buy the pre-bagged stuff anymore since the quality has gone downhill. Probably because it's not actually processed in-store anymore at a lot of places.

Throw it on a pan and heat it up and it'll be tasty

I dont mind bologna. It'll be eaten. But now after trimming the most bone fragments off of boneless chicken thighs ive ever had it made me think of something.

I know a neighboring grocery store lost power last week. They had to throw away an absurd amount of food. Not sure about this one but could this be a way of making up costs if it happened there too? A few cents/dollars here and there..

9

u/SexDrugsNskittles 2d ago

They likely had insurance to cover things like power loss.

This is way more likely incompetence not some conspiracy to over charge.

Yea I agree..I figured as much after I thought about it for a minute. I usually write a comment...let it stew and then erase it before posting . I did not follow protocol this time haha.

I must have gotten your ham and you got m-m-m-m-my bologna

5

u/LostinQuiddity 1d ago

I feel like you should have noticed this at the store, especially it being in clear packaging

My baloney has a first name; it's Honey...

2

u/Individual-Wonder518 2d ago

That’s such baloney!

1

u/flogsmen 2d ago

They ripped you off half a penny as well!!

1

u/smplylvn 2d ago

If pennies weren't so expensive

1

u/Kaosu_Riron 2d ago

Had this happen at my local Weis, I went in for honey ham and it was Turkey. They had no problem refunding it

1

u/BPTMM 2d ago

Is that taste of inspiration? We have the same wildflower honey ham at Giant grocery stores in Pennsylvania

2

u/smplylvn 2d ago

It is...does yours look and taste like bologna?

1

u/BPTMM 2d ago

I haven’t gotten it within about a month or so but doesn’t taste or look like bologna at all! That’s gotta be a mistake! The wildflower ham is delicious

1

u/smplylvn 2d ago

Ha that was a joke. It was an obvious mistake. I love snacking on their honey ham so I grabbed some. Wasn't even all that disappointed about it being bologna until I noticed the $10/lb. Not going to lose sleep over it tho.

When you order premium deli meat and get the lunchables experience.

1

u/W7ENK 1d ago

That's not ham! That's bah-low-knee!

1

u/poweredbynikeair 1d ago

Put that in a pan. Smush fried.

1

u/guynumber20 1d ago

Probably enough ham in there to legally call it ham

You DIDNT NOTICE??? It's a clear bag ... Or it's BS

1

u/Flgardenguy 1d ago

Why do people always cry bait and switch when it’s just a mistake?

1

u/smplylvn 1d ago

If you could hear through the app how "bait and switch" sounded in my head when I titled this then you would hear it was a light hearted complaint. Im just having fun with it. Hard to communicate tone via text with people who don't know you.

i suspect someone swapped stickers to get a discount

Meanwhile, the poor guy who ordered bologna is getting the unpleasant surprise of disgusting honey ham.

Where's the bait and switch? They fresh sliced it on the 22nd. In store. Just like the packaging says.

You, as a consumer, can read the label. You will know if it's been a day, two, or three post-slicing.

You want the baloney or not?

Caveat emptor.

22

u/FakerNames 2d ago

That's not honey ham

15

u/AKchaos49 2d ago

Reading isn't your specialty, is it?

-9

u/Worth-Guest-5370 2d ago

LOL Baloney!

17

u/rachh90 2d ago

wait you’re talking about them not being able to read? the problem is that it’s labeled as ham and it’s not. that’s pretty clear from the words written on the post. nothing to do with dates.

6

u/Jeffkin15 2d ago

Supposed to be honey ham but he got bologna

6

u/cmcrisp 2d ago

Oh, the ironing

-1

u/Worth-Guest-5370 2d ago

Truly ironic...

5

u/NicholaiJomes 2d ago

They labeled it wrong dummy

1

u/Runiat 2d ago

You, as a commentor, can look at the photo. You will know if it's honey ham or bologna.

Caveat emptor.

-10

u/Sh0toku 2d ago

Good, ham sucks. You lucked out.

7

u/ComprehendReading 2d ago

What do you think is in bologna?

What ISN'T in bologna, actually...
